Worms Reloaded ongoing Review
« on: August 25, 2010, 05:49 PM »
Hey guys, just finished my first game.

Noted so far:
1) landscape looks pretty darn flat. It's not at all as 3d-ish as expected, but more like 'paper worms'.
2) rope is indeed completely messed up, it's hard to bounce back from walls, which makes it darn hard to get enough power to swing your worm on top of objects
3) comedy value is still there.
4) lots of stuff on the terrain, with exploding crates, fires, barrels, magnets and sentries it's easy to get overwhelmed.
5) game lagged a lot for my brother. It skipped for me when I was trying to rope, but otherwise pretty ok.
6) menu looks good.

For WA players who want to rope like on WA: definitely don't buy.
For players who like worms for mad cartoony action, yeah, not bad!

How come it is available for you and not for me.

Steam says it will be 22 hours till it's unlocked?

Phew, seems we didn't lose HHC ;)

Due to massive misunderstandings: MonkeyIsland refers to an island not a monkey. I would be a monkey, if my name was IslandMonkey meaning a monkey who is or lives on an island. MonkeyIsland is an island which is related to monkeys. Also there's been a legend around saying MonkeyIsland is a game. So please, think of me as an island or a game.

@Cue
Tomorrow is the official release. If you pre-ordered the game you can d/l it now. If you bought a 4-pack or are part there-of, you must wait for the official one as well  ???

@MI:
not quite, i'm gonna give it a try anyway.
But yeah, WA is a much better game than this. It's like playing Hedgewars or some other clone programmed by an amateur. It's hard to believe the people who made W2-WA-WWP made this game too, it's far less smooth.
And yeah roping sucks ass ;)

Close enough lol. Yeah, it's not really suited for the kind of professional play as WA. Indeed more for the console-market (beer, friends and weed required).

Pretty frustrating when you want to play well. Especially the rope.. indeed you can get around the map like T17 said, but don't ask me how  :D

Nevertheless, i'm still playing it, it's like playing worms on the first day, quite funny to do actually..

Well, I mean, come on, almost every little detail of the game is totally screwed. From worms animations to roping, all this is done really poorly, like if t17 were f@#!ing hurrying or something like that.

Well what else is there to say.. I kind of like the new weapons, but at the same time it's frustrating how many and especially which weapons were left out. And the game overall sucks, indeed. :)

What a big fail.

Why didn't they replicate the w:a roping physics?

Baffles me!

Ey you won't get as fast taps in WA as you get in WR lol. I'm testing it right now.
The menu is freaking me out! Seriously!

As for tapping, it is possible to tap really fast, I'd imagine fingerrolling would also work, but there's no point in tapping fast if you can't pick up speed anyway. The rope is just a means of transport there, can't compare it to the WA one where it's become more of an art.

I've gotta really say that this game is so f@#!ing cute! Optimal for kids so much. I bet you could play some kick ass team17 or elite with the new weapons and stuff. I also imagine that a shopper is possible. You can play them in cave maps. In the end I'd say that releasing it on steam is stupid. It seems to be more a game for kids which is done very lovely.
