Too many leagues for the size of WA

Do we have too many leagues and schemes that we make WA worse than it could be in terms of competitive play?

Imagine one league where all classic schemes counted to some kind of global ladder, but we could still have individual scheme playoffs or something. I like TTL but i won't play TUS classic because i have no desire to play big rr or tower rr.

Then there is onl, trl, free league, koas league, i think the more we've made wa a sandbox for new schemes, the more it's killed competitive play.

I still thing we need to centralised all leagues into 1 global ladder.

I'm not sure what is planned in new TUS but i wonder if as a community, and not just the TUS community, but the inter onl guys, the koas people, we could all come together to decide on what would be best.

ps. i'm a hypocrite and love TTL ladder.

This sentence is absurd and I will explain why:

Until the update that made playing with 1 second possible, Hysteria didn't exist. Hysteria is now one of the most played schemes for many, many years. Competitive Intermediate was not played in the beginning of WA online community. The culture of playing it came with WWP players that migrated to WA. Trick Race is something very well known and had many players and even communities that love this scheme. The culture of playing Trick Race competitively is something recent compared to the scheme that dates 2001. The next WA update will probably include many new scheme features since 3.8 introduced a new scheme format and didn't add many scheme features except RubberWorm and teststuff ones. People will never stop creating schemes, specially because WA is not all about competitive events. I'd say that the minority of people play it competitively. And once new schemes are played new ones such Grenade Wars become favorites and start being played competitively. Your sentence is similar to those people that say that people shouldn't play challenges because they could be playing leagues or cups instead. You shouldn't cut an important section of WA just because apparently your creativity for creating schemes is inexistent. Schemes are the core aspect of WA in my opinion.

I agree with Chicken. At least at classic league, there are too many schemes. Some of them are similiar, like hysteria and aerial, or ttrr and bigrr/tower even wxw/shoper.
I think we should change some of them to free league.

When I said that couple of months ago (when TRL got introduced), no one backed me up.. Everyone just thought I'm trying to troll Komo or something. W:A is more and more dead each day. That's a fact.

I hoped, after 3.8, DC would throw at us lot of small updates.. At least on monthly basis. That would make players stay.. Would probably get us some newbies that would get interested why they get Steam notifications every few weeks about updates on a 25yr old game... Etc, etc.

Unfortunately, DC doesn't think that way.. Or he just ignores it.. Or it's a Team17 call and he can't do anything about it.. Not like we'll ever know the reasons behind it. Some of us won't get affected anyway, cause we will be here until the last day, but most of the people got bored/old/uninterested. We can't change this by forcing new leagues or even making the changes to existing ones.

That's why TRL is the best idea lol.

Sensei, you should also watch the Deadcode podcast.

It answers some errors you've made in your post.

Not everyone gonna watch a podcast just to find answers to a particular thing. Of course an counter argument could be made ''If they want the answer they should watch the podcast''. This argument makes sense from a business perspective but not from a small community that is divided.
I mean if you want to know about Somebody's toes and nose then that sort of Information should be encouraged to be pursue. Ultimately I do not care if big stuff about WA is spilled on a podcast or elsewhere, as longest people don't say ''Well if you wanna know you ought to listen!''. It doesn't hurt to answer on the spot..

:)

Long time ago I suggested 2 leagues for tus: Noob (Qualification League) and Pro League.

QL : Elite, Hysteria, and BIG RR.
Pro League: Intermediate, BnG, and TTRR.

Although the schemes I mentioned for QL could be replaced with popular schemes too. OR just have a league about Popular Schemes (PS): Mole, Kaos, Normal & Shopper..

In any case, in addition to the schemes I proposed for QL and PL, users should have a ''special scheme'' under their belt, it would pretty much be like special weapon.. But the special scheme can only be in use if the player has lost 2 times in a row.. Of course the special scheme shouldn't be some random made up bullshit on the spot, it must be a scheme that is well established and recognized.

Would I play more if this happened? Probably not lol. But why do I write this? Just rambling  ;D

Once there was 2 leagues and 100 players, now there is 100 leagues and 2 players..

Error is thinking that twitch podcast, for ~20(?) live viewers, is the way community should be informed about new updates.

These posts are kinda hilarious, at worst the extra leagues are extraneous and irrelevant.  The onl players don't want to play trl, the kaos league players don't want to play tus classic, ect.  Eliminating them is not going to make these people want to play elite, bng, and ttrr.  At best there is some small activity.  Nonissue.

It's a really good idea but unfortunately there isn't many new people that are inclined to play league, I can understand it truly.  15 years pros beating your monkey ass 19 times out of 20 can get rough and no other people to play at your skill level can get bad feels going.

Its a good choice.

Schemes should be the same in silver and gold league. It's a qualification, for the main league.

Players from gold/main league can't play versus silver/qualification league.
It could be good to newers players

Wow...

Sensei was right...

I'm sorry Sensei...

Also Kradie... Wtf... Kradie is right... That's the best idea for the league.

We need a fresh start and MI will give us that when he updates to TUS 3.0.

I trust MI  :-*
