All the way back in early 2000s.
Without the utilization of the ninja rope to progress across a normal to big sized shopper map, it would not be a rope based scheme at all. So let's examine a little to WHY this is the case Mr Korydex. I would wager that over 90% of shopper games, players must utilize rope to advance in 30 seconds, rather than to use battle race techniques to traverse the terrain and its obstacles. Without the ninja rope, Shopper as we know it, would be slow paced scheme, similar to Team17.
So why not have unlimited supply of ninja rope in Team17 then? Simple: it is not designed to be fast paced. The map, and the random terrain and its obstacles does not allow for accelerated movement with rope. The rope is used sparingly, for tactical purposes only.
But in Shopper, you are always on the move by using the ninja rope. You are allowed to knock, and rearrange your worm and enemy worm with rope. In Team17 scheme it is prohibited to knock.
So Yes. Mr Korydex. Shopper is a rope based scheme.
Korydex:
I think it's a mix of rope and ground schemes. Usually the winner in shopper is who can better use his weapons and plop enemy worms and that's ground schemes skill. It only becomes more of a rope game on maps like this and this, which arent popular
