Description:
Welcome to the Selecsteria Cup

Selecsteria is a new alternative to the standard Hysteria scheme that Kaleu created with the main purpose is to eliminate the unfair practice of "Telecow", while maintaining the scheme's characteristics.

What are the changes in this scheme from the usual Hysteria?:
- Worm Selection available in every turn.
- Worm Selection doesn't end hot-seat time.
- Worm Selection remains even after Sudden Death. (To prevent turn skip forcing of SD in order to disable WS.)
- 1 turn delay for every weapon but Teleport. (This is to prevent 1st turn advantage and avoid unwanted piles when spawning, Mad Cow still with more delay though, 3 turns in this case.)
- Enabled Fraction Round Timer. (This allows Sudden Death to approach even when all players finish their turn in under 1 second, so SD doesn't rely on turn skips anymore.)
- 30 seconds round duration instead of 10. (The game will last over 10 or 11 minutes before SD starts. This increase is needed for the game to last longer with fraction round timer enabled.)
- Water flood rise set to medium.

- Game version 3.8
 - bo3 format (up to two wins)
- 1 vs 1 battle
- 4 Worms in each team.
- Use random generated open Island maps. The default map size is 1920x696
- Glitches disabled.
- No rules.

I just wanted to say that Kaleu and I tested this scheme with 9 seconds fuse grenades. In my opinion it is an interesting feature to the scheme, however Kaleu was not convinced enough about this and prefered to keep the scheme as it is, with not so many changes to the original one. So, I suggest people to try playing with 9 seconds grenades to see if they are ok with the idea, since it can be useful with LG shots or "+" bounce.

I really liked this scheme when I played it years ago, but I remember worm select ending hot seat time. Why would you change it? What are the pros-cons?

I can add and accept the 9 second grenade scheme as a second one if you provide a link to it. If desired and agreed by both players, it will be possible to play it, but the first scheme will be the priority.

All changes and the main goals of creating this scheme are described in the general information, as well as by reference to the scheme itself.

bo1 or bo3?
Thanks for noticing! Added - bo3

Well Worm Selection is there to avoid the practice of Worm Rotation Tactic. This turns the game even more oriented as an artillery scheme, so the one winning doesn't need to worry so much after several hard shots he did if the opponent will easily recover without the need of so many skillful shots. The tactics of teleporting next to a worm or grouping allied worms or friendly fire attacks or suicides will probably not be as useful now in this scheme.

The Worm Selection is there because some people don't like random order of worms. Now definitely answering your question: Worm Selection doesn't end hot-seat time is an important feature v3.8 allowed this scheme to use it because you can change worms during the whole 10 seconds of hot-seat time, before v3.8 if you did that you'd have only one second to do this and still find time to attack. Now you can select the worm you want to play in 4 seconds, use the remaining 6 seconds to think on what to do and prepare an attack and then attack using the whole second.

The Cup has started.
Please do not delay games. If you are inactive for a very long time, then I will have to look for a replacement for you, or transfer more active players from the group to the next stage.

Today I have been testing this scheme and I am thoroughly impressed. This is such a well-thought change from the other Hysteria. Well done!

That's not necessary. 9 seconds grenades is a feature implemented in RubberWorm probably thinking on Black Hole Gravity or Wind affecting weapons. For Hysteria/Selecsteria this is really a small detail. You would rarely really use the 9 seconds grenades, even though maybe with time the pros may master it and use them instead of petrols depending on the situation. I'll not make a new scheme just to add this.

9 second fuse in Hysteria gives many more shot possibilities, for example an 8 second low gravity grenade is like a no wind bazooka with LG or petrol with LG, granted you know the height it will explode which only takes 1 attempt to learn and memorize(It's very similar to 4s FP).

Not to mention in general the larger fuses make it possible to roll/bounce grenades deep inside tunnels etc, 5s LG with an extra second becomes a lot more valuable edge to edge.

It's great for funners and doing trick shots, but i'd say it makes it far less challenging in competitive/serious matches for experienced players, this is probably why Team17 limited it to 5s originally, at a guess.

Siba, the other players are being inactive even now and I doubt they will play their matches, I know u set the deadline until 27th, but you should look for other players already to fill in place of the inactives. I think it doesn't make sense to wait it out any longer now.
