Cup #1226, Roofless Ruthlessness

<< < (2/6) > >>

kirill470:
Groups formed, enjoy the game

Lupastic:
we changed the required win formats for the stages, group is still: bo3 as it was intended, however KO and finals will be: bo5

Deadcode:
I understand why Donkey, Armageddon, and Sheep Strike are disabled, and I guess I can concede Carpet Bomb, but why Freeze? It's fun having that one in the scheme, and there's nothing special about roofless that would change that, is there?!

Also, how much of the roof should be removed? If you click the button to toggle the roof off in modern versions of WA, it removes all 8 pixels of the roof. But that results in a pretty thin roof. The easiest way to keep that 8 pixels in the roof is to remove it by erasing 1 pixel from it instead of toggling off the roof.

But that results in a pretty thin roof, and it can still be a roofless cavern with 8 pixels extra roof there (one way is to simply draw them back onto the map, carefully so as not to add them where they don't belong, but with at least 1 pixel left empty).

disabling the freeze too was mainly my idea, due to it adds unnecessary luck factor to an already kinda luck based scheme. if one player has freeze and uses it before the nuclear trigger, thats a main luck factor and winning factor. its more balanced if noone has it, I could compare this why noone should have clusters or petrol bombs in shopper, so that flame traps can be avoided, and 120 damages with clusters can be avoided. for me, at least having freeze in team17 is the same pattern, if I use freeze at the right time and the opponent doesn't, its pretty much goes down who were luckier with crates. thats still what team17 is about though, but I view this as a way of making the scheme more balanced overall.

and I'm not sure if I understood the part about the roof of the map?

check out this report. thats how maps should work. I dunno any other way of how to make thin roof walls :D if u follow the cup description, you just completely disable it, thus the map turns into an island and aerial weapons come into play. this is what this roofless t17 cup is mainly about. and me trying to come up with a bit more unique, and overall balanced team17 scheme

But you can often deny your opponent from using Freeze, by paying attention to the clock and timing the end of your turn. That was something I liked. Also it provides a comeback mechanism, giving hope if you're way behind. Sure, it can do the opposite, too, but that's always been fine with me.

Evidently you did not understand what I was saying.

My point is, simply right-clicking that button results in a roof that is thinner than it needs to be. The roof can be 8 pixels thicker than that if you disable it by erasing 1 pixel from the roof. And I prefer it that way. Would it be acceptable to play in this cup with that kind of map?
