New PC, no more Worms?
« on: July 20, 2011, 04:36 PM »
Yo, I just build my new PC and of course I picked Win7 64bit and I think René told me that it doesn't work on Win7 or at least 64bit...
So I am asking if it does (no point in downloading the iso if it won't work anyway).

Here are the speccs if anyone is interested:

nice Anubis. I also built my new pc nearly two years ago now, also using Windows 7 64bit. worms has been working just fine for those two years. if you ever get any problems, you can ask here or t17 forums because there can sometimes be little settings changes to help.

I also have Win 7 64.bit. Works fine.
There are just some issues with several graphic cards drivers ;d I simply use an old driver for my HD 5870 to run worms smoothly.

I did! Just not every week ask franz. :P

And ty for your answers I'll get Worms then, new TFT now too. I hope 1920x1200 ain't a little bit too high. xD

Nino: Not yet, I tried The Witcher 2 and it works very smooth on max settings, so no point in increasing so far. :)

hehe ye anu, true, i did mount a monster pc years ago cos i like it very fast, lol, and also just a tip everyone must know already, i did raid 0 on it, and it wors much faster then with single HDD, the point is, processor, memory and rest , wait to much for HDD to read the stuff and process , then if u do raid 0 or even buy an SSD computer gets faster as sex of  rabbit lol

Don't listen to BlondZ, hehe. I, too, play worms on win7 64bit.

PS. Dude, you bought 5400 rpm HD?  :-X You could ditch one RAM stick (you prolly don't need 8GB ram) and buy a decent HD instead. But nice PC otherwise.
chakkman> if rok was a girl i d marry the bitch lolz

Actually, the plan was to get a new silent and cheap HD for storage (I record gameplay videos) and soon get a SSD for Windows only. So yeah it might be a slow one (well compared to my old ones it's very fast) but slower operating speed ensures longer durability.

Works at 110mbits/s which is almost 2x as fast as my old one (60mbit). So I am quite happy with it. :)

I was deciding between 5400 and 7200 though, the price was identical but the reviews for the 5400 were SO much better (VERY silent, no problems, all reviews 5 Stars) and the 7200 only had 4 Stars and many people said that you can hear the HD even within a closed case. So since I wanted to get SSD anyway soon I decided that I definately want a silent HD for storage.

Iam not sure my friend, SAS drives , works on speed of 10k or 15k rpm and it is very durable, made to works in servers for years ae.

i think there are some seagate discs with 7200 rpm as silent and as durable as this oneu bought ae amigo.

How much the entire thing cost?

1. Why Green PSU? They are known for causing noises/parasite. (At least the ones in my country)
2. If you wanna enjoy 1TB hard, you should never get 1TB hard drive but split it into at least 2 HDs on raid 0 as nino suggested. (I have 4 HDs on raid 0, yea suck on it nino ;))
3. Why Intel Core i5? Why not i7?

btw I'm not attacking you. Looks like a nice PC :)
Due to massive misunderstandings: MonkeyIsland refers to an island not a monkey. I would be a monkey, if my name was IslandMonkey meaning a monkey who is or lives on an island. MonkeyIsland is an island which is related to monkeys. Also there's been a legend around saying MonkeyIsland is a game. So please, think of me as an island or a game.

@satanicbeard, i know u r not running a server m8, i was just trying to say you could get a 7200rpm with the same level of  noise as a 5400rpm and durability ae.

@monkey, hauhua u have 4 HDs in raid 0 but hey w8, you got raid 0 + 1 no?

btw 2 HDs of 500GB in raid 0 will result in only 1 Logical HD of 500gb, ye  it coasts more, but performance say aeeeeeeeee.

Just 4 x 320GB on raid 0. Technically I'm having 4x faster HD performance!
