Title: Cup #247: QuickdrawCup
Post by: Husk on July 13, 2011, 03:25 AM
- If a players don't be at #RopersHeaven at start date for knockout and group pairment for over 15 minutes without sending notice to the moderator on the reason for this problem, he or she will get automatic drop from the tournament.
- 15 minute rule above also applies with playing a match against an opponent.
- Rules are going to be very strict to make this contest go quickly.

is this a cup or a tournament?

Thanks :P

yea that part what I pasted is a bit confusing, we don't rly have this strict rules in cups usually. Maybe take note of how people have hosted their cups, and get the big picture how it works (=

I understand what you mean, but I made rule for the good of all people. I noticed cups and tournament can unnessarily be extend due to lack of strict rules. These rules should help tournament be shorter and more fun. Hope you guys enjoy this underrated scheme.

mays groups bo3 too?

I think group should be bo1 because you get to play three game before knowing whether you're out of the cup or not. Bo3 will make the game 2 long for the group pair. I can understand your point if it's a tournament.

bad placements and gg if  round 1.

in tus was quickdraw cup, one game - 10-15 min , i think that max 45 min in game - np  ;)

if this is cup, why u deadlines in 4 hours.

i host tourneys - often come max 8 ppl , but i host up classic schemes (elite, t17, hyst).

in last quickdraw cup join only 10 ppl, but sign up was open ~1 week.

I understand your point once again. We'll be promoting this cup quite a lot before sign up actually ends. Also I can't do much bout back luck match in earlier matchups. I lost on Dabble and Fidget largely because I fought against 2nd strongest opponent in that tourney.

quickdraw is never bo1 xD

check this last quickdraw cup, try copy some of the features from it: https://www.tus-wa.com/cups/cup-110/

haha mate!

Firstly GJ at hosting a quickdraw cup!

but... this is a cup not a tournament lol, you are confusing cups with tournaments. Tournaments take place all in one session, everyone needs to be in AG at the same time. Cups take place over a few weeks (or even months) as it takes longer to get all the games done. So get rid of all those deadlines, this isnt a tournament! You can still have deadlines for each round but they are never meant to be played all in one day. For example you have a deadline of 2 weeks for the group games to be played, then another deadline for the knockouts. Depending on how quickly games are getting played you can change the deadlines when and as you need to.

Trust me, the deadlines you are proposing WILL NOT WORK! Not only will they not work, they will also discourage people from joining the cup altogether. They are not necessary, cups are not meant to be rushed in a few days. Its good to have deadlines, but doing it the way you want to will not work, there are too many games that need to be played and people are in all sorts of timezones, use regular cup deadlines. If you dont change the deadlines this cup will be a fail, and that would be a shame seeing as it will be a long time til the next qd cup. None of us want your cup to fail, so remove all those deadlines... now!

To clarify, this cup will be a fail if you dont remove these deadlines and none of us want that.

Secondly, group games NEED to be bo3. Quickdraw NEEDS to be played with a minimum of 3 rounds, thats the nature of the scheme. Make group rounds bo3 and knockouts bo5 (finals bo7 would be good too), and then ill be playing for sure!

As Husk said, look at the last qd cup we had https://www.tus-wa.com/cups/cup-110/ better to do it like this!

+ I made a map pack of 100 qd maps that im gonna upload to TUS, so maybe remove that link and then link the map pack when its all uploaded, cos theres only 4 or 5 maps in that link.

So yeh GJ for hosting this cup, but you NEED to remove those deadlines.

Mate if you want to be strict about the deadlines, id recommend these:

Group games (bo3): 10 days
Knockouts (bo5) and finals (bo7): 7 days

That is a tight deadline compared to most cups but this scheme isnt very well known, there wont be many players so we should be ok.

And don't prepare deadlines (by dates) in advance, because there are too many cups at the moment.

But you can do as NAiL said; I mean, prepare a number of days/weeks (1 week, 10 days, 2 weeks, 52 weeks...) for each round instead of the date, maybe your summer cup will become a Christmas cup with all these unfinished cups.

What he said :) I'll try to get more involved with cups getting played in time, but lately, things have been going pretty smoothly

Thank you very much for your constructive criticism and general friendliness. :) I think I got much better idea of how cup works. It's kind of pity that cup has to be RIDICULOUSLY LONG as I don't like huge downtime in general. I tried to follow NaiL guildelines more closely, but I plan on putting the cup rule fairly strict and professional still. Because the Cup have long duration of time to finish it, I will DEFINITELY RAISE ROUND #. I probably won't host this cup until NaiL uploads his new, better map pack.

For Moderator: Reject this tournament as this cup is still waiting to be approved even after sign up start date has been passed. (It's my fault for demanding the sign up date too soon.) I will be hosting this cup again with much better organization.

For all, sorry for the unnessesary trouble.

It's always good to see new people hosting cups :)

I'm not going to remove the cup though; you opened the cup, so you should be able to modify the description of the cup.
You seem dedicated to hosting a cup, so I see no reason to reject this cup.

As for deadlines: you can use the TUS system itself for setting specific dates as well, so no need to put specific dates in the cup description. You can just mention the amount of days for each round and the end of the signup time will tell all participants all they need to know.

Alright great. NaiL don't host your cup as this cup isn't canceled. Just finish up your map pack and msg me, so I can put up the link for the new map pack. ;)

hmm, would you mid if I took over managing the cup instead?

...cos the last cup wasnt very popular, I can get alot more people to play this time though. I also wanna do my own description and put more example games. If this was any other scheme I wouldnt ask, but seeing as I created the scheme and it still isnt very well known id like to host it if thats ok.

I'll gladly let you take charge of this cup, but talk to moderator about this. He's the one who wanted me not cancel this cup, so yea...  ;)

I know mate.

Darkone me and Dumb are friends, we play lots of unusual schemes together, he understands why I wanna host it. If it was one of his schemes he would want to host it.

We both want me to take over, so please let me!

Thanks!
