Title: New cups
Post by: DarkOne on March 23, 2010, 08:05 PM
'lo there,

Less cups are being played now, so there's room for new ones!
I'm gonna set up a new one for schemes that are played relatively less, but I need to know which scheme would be most welcomed.

You can choose between these:

in principal, I'm going to be hosting one cup, but if there's a close tie between 2 (or maybe even 3), then I wouldn't mind hosting more.
Let me know which one(s) you prefer :)

But if you're going to sign up, I'm gonna need you to do your best to get the games played! That means not signing up if you know you're going to be busy soon.

How come BattleRace isn't on the list? :(

Moleshopper as it's the only scheme listed containing a bit of strategy. ;)
Why not transform your post to a poll? You'd definitely get more votes, D1.

I don't mind if people want to participate in more than one of those schemes :)

Didn't feel like hosting a battlerace cup is the short answer. Perhaps later on, though :)
Or you could host one yourself

You can always make a multi-selective poll, just saying... :P

edit: typo

I vote for elite pwnage v3, t17 pwnage v3, ttrr pwnage v1...

Basically schemes that are popular with the majority of tus players.

Seems better to host cups that people will actually want to participate in, rather than lesser played schemes of which people dont really care whether they win or loose :D

then it's a good thing I didn't include those schemes in my list  :P

Just because they don't care whether they win the cup or not doesn't mean they won't try to win it. But the bonus for these type of schemes is that they won't try to bend the rules and get cheap wins (in theory, of course, there's always an exception as I've noticed earlier)
Besides, elite, t17 and ttrr get their fair share of activity already, don't you think?

People play those schemes anyway, in my opinion, Cups and Tournaments are meant to be the "less popular" schemes.

You can try to host with scheme #98 (https://www.tus-wa.com/schemes/scheme-98/). It's with standard weapons power and balanced crate rate!

Most definetly wfw. I think it is a common free scheme and getting atleast 16/20 ppl shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you have a mappack with 10-15 maps and anti fort rule and in addition have 3 worm selects =D

Then it would be a good idea to attach a poll to this thread, as has been suggested already.

As far as I knew, polls only gave you one vote. I want to know how many people would participate in certain cups, so I want to see what people think about each of these cups.
I'm not sure if you understood my question here, Dmitry! I said I would host the cup. Does that mean you're voting for moleshopper?
I've assumed this is the case and added your name accordingly

You got to know one thing, people are really lazy. Posting in a thread takes too much effort for some, that's why god invented polls. ;)
If you want to let people vote on more than 1 scheme just use the underlined box:

Also, MI can put the poll on the mainpage or something, you'll get plenty of votes that way. I'm not being an ass, just trying to help. :)

The Classic schemes are played a lot in the Classic League. Cups have to include the less popular schemes because of the obvious failure of the Free League, not to mention that those are just as fun as any other schemes. You are not obligated to join. :)

Funny, I think the same way about T17 and elite ;D but that's just because I don't like those schemes. I wonder if it's the same for you ???

I'm gonna leave the poll up for a couple more days. It seems to be a very close race, so it looks like I'll be hosting more than one cup

Well it looks like wfw will win =D Make sure you use a scheme with 3 ws and anti fort rule. I would allso recomend you to have a mappack and prechoosen " tie breaker maps " as i had for my ctf cup. But etheir way i wanna wfw !

Why would I do such a horrible thing as restricting people in their map choice?
Anti-forting rule was already included in the poll

I'll close the poll (and put the cups up) next monday :)

I think it's safe to say Walk for Weapons will have a cup starting monday.
I'm curious about the other cups, though. All of them seem to be equally popular (with BnA seemingly more popular), with well enough possibilities for a cup.
Title: Re: New cups
Post by: DarkOne on April 05, 2010, 01:47 PM
Well, the results speak for themselves :)

WFW: 30 votes
BnA: 24 votes
Bungeerace: 20 votes
Jetpack race: 19 votes
boomrace: 17 votes
moleshopper: 14 votes

WFW and BnA are the clear winners, so I'll start up cups for those.
However, the other schemes also seem to have enough people voting for it. It seems all of them would have enough people participating, so that's what's going to happen!

I'll start hosting cups in groups of 2, starting with the cups with the most votes. I've asked MonkeyIsland to remove the limit on public cups that can be hosted at once (we have to approve them anyway, right?)

You're free to host one 8)

WfW and BnA cups are now open for signups (at least, BnA will be within the hour). Apologies for the delay.
The maximum for public cups has also been removed now.

Let the games begin!
