playoffs shouldn't be allowed to last longer than an entire season.  divide the 60 day season for each playoff round: for singles that's 20 days for each round and for clanners that's 30 days for each round.

I think a strict deadline that's the same every season would do a lot of good, because I've heard some really bad excuses for playoff games not being played.. if you've heard any bad excuses too, post them!

"relax, no one else has done their playoffs, we have tons of time"
"i'm going to clanner/i'm in a clanner"
"nah, I'm not ready right now/i'm not warm, sorry"
"i haven't even contacted my opponent yet"
"i'm lazy"

with a strict deadline, none of the above excuses would be allowed at all and they would be kicked out of the playoffs for wasting people's time.  only extreme situations can ask for more time, but only then would a mod consider giving extra time.

xD  well.. sorry, I know it's not random deadlines, I chose a poor word.. I just couldn't think of a better word for 'not-universally-standard' deadline

playoffs should be taken much more serious as it is taken nowadays from the players.

IMO after seasson finnish, should be seted 3 dates from tus to players play the game. or agreed from the players, but if players agree for a date, they MUST  play it in the date.

It is funny as peoples dont give a f@#! for playoffs and i see the efford that D1 does here to see the games played.

Where should be interest  of players to play it as soon as possible, if u dont care to playoffs, then just dont play the league.

and plus, id set some punnishent for those who make in playoffs and dont play it.

when i played my last playoffs vs random i was innactive for almost 2 mounths when i was active and warm he doesnt played with me.

After i break to play for 1,5 mouth deadlines was fixed and i needed top play innactive :P

i think than no deadlines for playoffs is ok.

I felt the way darkone and myself got the ball rolling on the playoffs over summer worked well. We set deadlines and did remove those from certain pairings if they were unable to make these deadlines.

I felt it worked even if it was annoying at times.

now i dont know how the current playoffs are going due to my own inactivity but i think having a cold set deadlines could be problematic. Im more in favour of correct results and waiting then removing lazy players, also sometimes life does throw up its own surprizes and people do have genuine reasons.

I think what you and DarkOne done was perfect for this league, at least to get a start.

I feel there should be set deadlines, 2 months for 4 clans to do up to 2 sets of Bo5 and 8 players to do up to 3 sets of Bo5 is way more than enough time needed, if they just spend 2 months to reach the playoffs, I see no reason for clans to play a possible 12% of the amount of games they had to play to REACH the Playoffs and for singles to play up to a possible 12.85% of the amount of games they had to play to reach the Playoffs.

I think most players need more incentive, strict deadlines work and recent statistics prove that, but some people find it unfair (I don't).

I think some players are a bit bored of Playoffs after trying and failing or winning all the time, they don't get enough satisfaction unless they come 1st place, which is why huge announcements could make 2nd and 3rd more noticeable and a proud position to achieve.

I also think that Playoffs need to be played faster.
It should be not difficult to play your first round playoffs game(s) within the first week after the season finished. People just always try to be in top shape, when they're playing PO's, but this delays the games just too much.
(and yes, I know that I was one of the lazy players in the past; but at least I played all my games at some point ;d )

I think that the 1st in PO should get a free pass to the playoffs of next season (with enough games and winning rate), this way people would give more importance to the PO.
It could work better for the players which are below top 4 overall, they probably would fight more for this place because is preety hard to them reach top 4 season with our rating system.
More than this, at least the three best playoff players should get any kind of shine in tus site or another reward that gives atleast some incentive. Today the season winners receives more attention that the playoff guys.

Well, if you care about playoffs, why didn't you finish the playoffs when Random was there? (I guess this answers your first question)
Why did you leave for 2 months when you knew you had playoffs to play?

It's one thing to criticise, zippo (I just showed you it's really easy to do), but it's more useful (and more praise-worthy) to try to come with solutions, like most other posters in this thread are doing.

Tougher deadlines in my opinion. 1 week per series. If you don't complete the game, then your banned from the next months playoff.

By series do you mean the 1st series as in Quarter Finals, then 2nd series would be Semi Finals?

I think that comes down to the seasonal points being ordered before overall.

the TEL playoffs are showing me once again that playoffs still take way too long

a season lasts 60 days -> 20 days for each playoff round is enough time..
that's nearly 3 weeks to play at most 5 games per round.

January 1st - January 20th: all quarterfinals done by the 20th
January 20th - February 9th: both semifinals done by the 9th
February 9th - February 28th: both final and 3rd done by the 28th

it's February 13th, and you'd think they'd already be at the final, but no..
-> there's still a 1st round matchup that hasn't even come close to finishing (1st game was played today 44 days into the next season)
-> random is stuck at his semifinal spot because this above 1st round isn't finished.
-> crash is lazy again, holding up mablak. they're stuck at their semifinal matchup.


Sorry if I'm the only one bothered by this, but this is too relaxed. people not making the effort should be kicked out earlier. deadlines shouldn't be a mystery date in the future either.. they should be the same every season and strict so that whoever makes the most effort deserves to continue. at least do it for sake of closure -> so that the ultimate winner will be known by all at that strict final deadline at February 28. this way, the next playoff can start fresh. overlapping playoffs that finish at random times makes them feel way too unimportant.

You are totally right there, I definately support set deadlines for all Playoffs for all Leagues.

I agree to franz too. I dont understand how one can put effort and time in a season and after dont play the playoffs quickly. I dont have to tell any names cause its kind of obvious who's the brake here.

Is there just not enough support to try these new rules?

Was hoping this could have been used for the upcoming playoffs starting tonight, but if not, I'm still going to keep defending this. Even if it's not used now, I'll campaign this for the next playoffs..
