Very bold & woke of you to say.
He was a pirate? Do you have source? It's just a theory, a woke theory.

Well Columbus is the most famous and one of the first of them...I was reading a book about jamaica from an italian author that spent 10 years researching everythings about jamaica starting from the colombus fisrt travels there (they firstm discovered islands like jamaica and cuba) it says that columbus was spending time there with native peoples and a leader of them tribu even asked columbus to bring him to the spanish lands, but colombus declined because he wont bring such pure peoples to those lands and show them to his kings.. you can image it....

I think he was just a man with a desire of discover new things and brings gold that was necessary to cover up the investment that spanish kings made...
In jamaica they killed alot of peoples in guerrillas too till it go his indipendence from england...

EDIT: you cant be a pirate with golds of the crown lol.... there was a cannibal and violent tribù in those islands, i dont remember well where but ye image going there without know a shit and found peoples that want kill you...

Here in Brazil we still have tribus like this inside the amazon jungle, recently they killed a man who worked for the government for like 30 years with preservation of the those tribus..kinda weird but truth.

Poland

+ very cheap, can eat a dinner for 5 euro or travel by train all the way across the country for 15 euro,
+ beautiful nature and countryside - although you need to know where to look, as popular places get very crowded in the season,
+ western idea of political hypercorrectness is largely absent from the public attention,
+ natural disasters (volcanoes, earthquakes) are non-existent, extreme weather is rare,
+ overall life is generally decent as long as you're not working like a mule for minimum wage.

- everyone, even your friends, are extremely nosy and judgemental about how you're living your life,
- our government has obvious authoritarian ambitions,
- the catholic church has a massive influence on public life (luckily this is slowly changing),
- public healthcare is a sad joke,
- terrible air pollution in cities during winter.

What can I say? Technology is good - dependency upon technology isn't.

Depending on anything is good if it benefits you, so long as it's reliable(because if it isn't reliable, you cannot depend on it).

Also take into account how well humanity can adapt even if something suddenly becomes unreliable or unusable it doesn't mean it's run as being reliable was bad.

But then again, you have all these fancy smancy degrees and you are not ignorant, so you already knew that lol.  ;)
