Title: Username Origins
Post by: Spenner on July 06, 2017, 03:46 PM
What does your username mean/where did it come from?

Mine came from my cousin, acting like a retard, saying my name (Spencer) while drooling, when I was 10 or so.

TheMadCharles - Mad for my personality
h3oCharles - I wanted my WA team to have the condensed formula of H2O, but in Cyrillic alphabet of the game there wasn't a 2 in the lower index... there was a 3 however.

Karol from Polish to English -> Charles

Why am I "Mega`Adnan"?
Well, I dunno, just probably wanted to add random coolness to my name. Or maybe I used to play too much Mega Man games before I discovered W:A when I was 15 or 16. xD

People know me on WA for 2 names(cuz to me TheKomodo & Komito are the same thing), pre 2000 it was PudgieBudgie, this was when ropa was leadermagikarp and TheSheriFF was EliteBoyZ.

TheKomodo comes from my favourite childhood song - Mauro Picotto / Komodo (Save A Soul)

I don't know why I added the "The", I guess my favourite players were like TheSheriFF, TheClash, theHamster, TheWalrus TheFudo etc, I guess we're a special breed cuz pretty much everyone with a "the" in their name was awesome at WA in some scheme or another.  8)

So Komito happened when I was in cfc, chatting on Ventrilo with lalo and daina, can't remember if it's because he had trouble pronouncing it before his English improved or it was just his own version but he just started calling me by Komito and I thought that's pretty cool and unique so I stuck with that as a stage name and had it online on WA for a year or 2.

Started playing under nickname SenseiZion on GameRanger.
Zion is promised land to rastafari people. (something similar as in movie Matrix, if i'm not mistaken)
Vicenzo and myself smoked lot of weed during high school days. He's an ugly junkie now.
During those high periods I fell in love in reggae music, rastafari culture.. etc.
For "Sensei" part of the nick, I really can't remember how it got in. Probably in one of our shopper sessions on game ranger, if there was few won games in a row.. We used to take it seriously back then.

Remember after discovering #ag and tus, in one of our first clanners, after few ugly fails, Free told me: "You should change your nick, cause you're far from being a Sensei"
It was probably biggest insult I received here yet. Well, I removed the other part of the name.
Suck it Free!

PIZZASHEET

I once heard a guy with an italian accent say Piece of shit! but it sounded like pizzasheet, I thought to myself thats a nice way of censoring a name for an online game such as worms.

My nick comes from my real name, but it went through several modifications. I started with my real name in 2005, when I was 10 years old and got a Siemens phone. At that time I was experimenting with some software modifications regarding Siemens phones, and a few Russian forums existed where I was particularly active. This was especially the case when, around 2006, I got a BenQ Siemens E71 which had standard button mappings, but an unusual screen resolution (240x320) for a Siemens phone. As the result, only a handful of J2ME games worked without input errors and with the full screen resolution. There were multiple forum threads where users published patches for 240x320 games, and one guy I talked to particularly often on this topic. His name was Ness, which was a shortened version of Nester (his real name). I thought it was quite cool, so I made up something similar. That is how "Stepanesss" was born. This nick remained in use until 2010, and was the nick with which I returned to W:A in 2009, participating in Winter Worm Olympics. In 2010, I was playing some Parachute Races with an Ukrainian dude called Argonat. His online nick was "argo", but he was registered as "Argonat" on the Russian forums, and I was curious what had made him change the name. It was for the sake of simplicity and to avoid double-entendre that could potentially lead to confusion. I felt that some of this applied to me, so I decided to shorten the name as well. To make it unique, the last S was capitalized. Thanks to that dude, as it was him who gave me the idea and oversaw the transition.

Post by: Zsír çoban on August 19, 2017, 05:20 PM
Zsír - Hungarian for "fat" as substance, like used on bread; çoban - Turkish for "herdsman", but "čoban" in Bosnian i think means "farmer", so it was supposed to be "Fat Farmer" or "Fat Hillbilly from Slavonia" or "a shepherd who likes fat". I don't know Hungarian, just read "zsír" on a milk package

Bloopy is an alien character I started drawing when I was 9 or 10. I guess the name came from imagining bubbling pools of slime on his home planet making a 'bloop' sound.

back to topic

Some years ago i was playing WA with friends via Hamachi, later have discovered WormNET. At some point i met a guy, whose name is lost in sands of time. He taugh me how to remap keys and to rope a little bit. Of course, my moves were very noobish and awkward with a new key layout, but by time i got used to it and new layout prooven that its much better than deafult one. This made me better player overall. Meanwhile, i have heard Cyberworms soundbank and started to use it right away. Later i made a proper grave for my "robotic" team and what was missing is proper names for worms. Google did not help, but later i recalled about The Corrupt, a faction of robot warriors from 1999 Unreal Tournament. Eight names, exactly what i need. And... Since i became much better player and well-sounded The Corrupt's leader name Xan Kriegor remains not used, i decided to take it! New map new Tobi palyer - new name! Besides this, "xan" is happened to be a part of my real name - Alexander.

Something like this...

All this time I read your username name like "Bloody".

I guess different pools of slime could have different accents... blup, blop blihp. I definitely intended it to rhyme with loopy. Although in the song I pronounced it more like Bloop-eh just to be silly.

My car's licence plate is BLOOPY now too. 8)
