What Messenger did you use back in the days?
« on: May 15, 2020, 01:23 PM »
I started to think about old messaging software and got nostalgic. I mainly used MSN Messenger that came bundled with Windows XP, and later updated to version 6.2 and so on. I also remember you had to the choice of installing MSN Messenger Plus, which added extra functionality and feature to the main program. It was fun to nudge people, causing their screen to shake, and to invite a bunch of people and to watch the chaos unfold xD

But I was sad when Microsoft killed of Windows Live Messenger, dark times indeed.... But they, we got discord and skype :)

I used 3, I had ICQ for the German community. AoL was mostly American and MSN was everyone else.

Msn messenger and mirc. Mirc was mainly used for searching opponents for cs 1.6 clanbase matches. Clans had their own channel ofc.

Mostly MSN and I also used IRC a lot. Sometimes AOL, plus a tiny bit of ICQ and Yahoo. Only really used Skype to talk to family. So all of them, basically!

Microsoft didn't shut down the MSN/Windows Live servers until early 2015. I still connected with Trillian until then.
