Help with Rubberworm
« on: June 13, 2016, 06:37 PM »
Hi! This is my first post here!
I have been having some trouble enabling rubber worm with hosting buddy. I have no problem when I do the hosting myself because the commands are straightworward. But with hosting buddy you need to set something with the crate probabilities and ''add'' something and ''do'' something'' with the bytes, according to the worms armageddon page. I know I could just make my own scheme , upload it and use it whenever I want but it would be really useful if I could choose the settings on the go.
Thanks,
Oistrakh

Hmm, HostingBuddy doesn't support Rubber unless you use your pre-made scheme afaik. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Rubber settings are stored in unused values like i.e. crate propability of french sheep strike (witch doesn't have any efect on normal game).
At http://worms2d.info/RubberWorm you can look up witch values are used for rubber features.

!crates french 5 i.e. activates antisink feature.

with hostingbuddy it shudn't be more complicated, just replace / with !

also u might wanna just upload ur scheme to wsdb... let's say its wsdb number would be 123456 then when u join ur hostingbuddy game u just write: !wsdb 123456 and it loads the correct scheme everytime

It does but it's reaaaaally harder than just custom hosting and it's basically useless if the ones who get in your game don't have Rubber Worm

Hosting buddy is also connected with TUS now.
You can type, for example:

!tusscheme 992 (it will host BnG league scheme)
!tusmap 1234 (will host whatever map is on that number)

And ye, like husk said, for rubberworm just type ! instead /.
Maybe you'll also need to type "version" after !:
!version antisink

Exactly! Those values are killing me! I mean I know how they work but my main problem is that when I put !crate armageddon 1-5, whatever I do I always get 1% Rubber  :-X. That's what I want to solve!

Bouncing worms percentage is achieved by X/255, of which X is what crate value you type in

The best way would really be - upload scheme to TUS and load with !tusscheme ####

As
a) some values aren't acepted by hosting buddy - like "!crates armag 25" for 10% rubber hb sais "Invalid crate propability: valid values are 0-5"
b) wsdb always "repairs" schemes with rubber settings  :-X

Well - any rubber scheme is useless if not all players have rubber  ;)
You can tell people to type /tellv to verify if they have it.

It sanitizes the schemes not to prevent RubberWorm, but as an anti-noob measure. There are thousands of "broken" schemes around created with external scheme editors, where people set obscure unused values without knowing they're unused (except by mods), making their game and their replay files incompatible with RubberWorm users. WSDB has helped reduce the amount of these badly designed schemes, but certainly not as much as would be preferable. This is why SchemeEddy is one of the worst scheme editors, because it misleads new players into enabling nonexistent scheme options.

Dec 31 2013 00:00:44 <StepS> this problem has been around since the Worms Armageddon's release and no one has even tried to beat it

I see - wonder if the TUS scheme builder also repairs that (and just allows unused settings, that are important for rubber) - or if there are manny corrupt schemes here…

And - one reason i sometimes miss Worms 2 with precise setting for everything.
