CuSticK, not sure if you already know this website but a huge list of people here - https://worms2d.info/People

I think of WA as having different eras, for me it feels like - 1999-2004 / 2004-2008 / 2008-2012 / 2012-2016 / 2016-2021

Kinda just wanna write down a few people that had the most impact on me during the first few years between 1999 and 2002.

Do you remember any of these people? Have any similar stories?

M3ntal - Met him through Warmers, SfX hype and a shared passion for music production, since then i've been down to England to visit him pretty much every year except last year of course and we remain good friends.

Avatar - Along with DodgeFreak we made BDD - Bringers of Death and Destruction, my first clan! This guy was from Holland, I remember chatting with him almost everyday via ICQ about school, girls, parents, being bullied and so on, i'll never forget him!

DodgeFreak - Used to play so many warmers with this guy, he was in our clan BDD, was a great roper and a great friend!

Link - Man, Link was so important, I played with him a lot and learned to become a consistent Roper because of him, he was so ridiculously good at actual Ropers with this amazing charm and friendly personality that was so laid back and easy to get along with.

TheSheriFF - This was the first "pro" roper I ever saw, this is the guy who made my internal dialogue go "WTF!"

TheHamster - Leader of TEA, which I joined during their comeback in 2006, a lot of fun games.

Jmoberg - Inspired me so much with his legendary scrolling and power spikes, he was so fast!

FlowingWater AKA Franz - Before the massive news that FlowingWater was actually a guy called Franz, highly regarded as one of the best Ropers of all time, skilled at every roping scheme, insanely consistent in Ropers and absolutely magnificent in Warmers, a style that was a pleasure to watch.

Leadermagikarp AKA Ropa - Before all the aliasing and controversary surrounding Ropa, he was an extremely ambitious roper and we both beginners when we met and kind of got better at the same pace, both quickly becoming very strong in Ropers and fast in Warmers by early to mid 2000.

TheFudo & TheWalrus - I cannot remember exactly which year I met these guys, but remember all night Warmers with Fudo and playing a lot with Wally as well and ALWAYS got these 2 mixed up for some reason, at one point I thought they were the same person... Both absolute units and legends in my eyes.

BigC & Nimmer - I forget which clan they were in, but used to play against them a lot in clanners, they were both excellent ropers and friendly.

FaTaL - Someone I warmed with a lot who coined the move "The FaTaL Dance" which another community started calling pinball, it will always be the fatal dance to me though!

SpinWinG AKA TheClasH - This guy was nuts at Warmers, was the first person I saw doing multiple kicks/double kicks/triple kicks in succession and was a very solid Roper.

Fabrousse - From what I remember, Fab and SpinWinG were both French, and they were kinda like best buddies, when I first met them SpinWinG was already highly skilled but Fab was more of an average skilled player, very capable but nothing stood out as being special, however he did go on to make one of the most famous Roper map packs of all time, so he has a great legacy!

Volrin - This guy at times felt more like a myth than a reality, I only ever saw him play a few times but f**k me the dude was insane, was considered by many to be the greatest roper of all time, yes, even better than Anubis, Volcolm & Mablak. (I would say Mablak is definitely the best TTRR player of all time though)

Volcom - During that era of 1999-2004, Volcom was straight up the best "Roper" player there was(by Roper I mean the scheme Roper, not the generalization of using rope), his statistics reflect how good he was, insanely consistent, pretty much never fell, never missed crates and never missed shots.

marco - This guy had a magnificent style in warmers and could pull off beautiful combinations of moves, one of the top ropers of the early era. I wish I could remember the 4/5 letter acronym that he invented that he taught people how to rope with. It was something like:  Timing, Adaptability, Practise, Speed. Or something similar...

Actually, not only with roping but marco actually changed my life, told me about the pineal gland, lucid dreams and a lot of other stuff, would chat about theories, possibility of other life in the universe, astral projection and stuff. He helped me to become confident in myself and talking to girls and stuff, i'm actually pretty angry at myself I forgot about him because immediately when CuStick mentioned MASH I was overwhelmed with memories with marco, dude straight up changed my life in a positive way!

One of the rare novel posts of yours that I managed to read through lol.

FaTaL - Someone I warmed with a lot who coined the move "The FaTaL Dance" which another community started calling pinball, it will always be the fatal dance to me though!

Cool info! Is this true? Fatal dance? Never heard anyone said something like this before.. And I've been around for quite some time now.

Yup, I remember him doing it for the first time vividly because it was on one of the most popular Warmer maps of all time - Gundam.

The part in the middle, seems like it was made specifically to do the fatal dance, during a warmer he sorta hung on the roof, stopped for a moment to type "I call this the fatal dance", then dropped from a spike right into it, bounced back and forward about half a dozen times, then took off again, it blew my mind lol.

The DFWU guy was Erod. Me and him and Goaty used to play together allllll the time.

And yes, 'pinball' is the 'FaTaL dance.' He's the one that figured it out and he's the one who started using it way before anyone else.

WA's best years were definitely 99-07. There was a time where the community was a bit split between WA and WWP but the crazy thing was we had enough players to actually support that. Neither game suffered from low population during that time, from what I remember. I am one of those players who adopted WWP almost instantly and it wasn't until quite a bit later, after WA had received some nice updates, that I went back to WA exclusively.

There's so many awesome and fun players who have been a part of this community over the years, and it kinda sucks that I forget a lot of their names until someone else mentions them and all of a sudden I am flooded with memories.

On the topic of Volcom - he was incredibly good at the start because I am pretty sure he was a hardcore W2 player. He had a big head start compared to people who started on WA. I remember he seemed absolutely amazing for those first few years but eventually other people's skills started to catch up and all of a sudden he didn't seem so amazing anymore. I'm not putting the guy down - he was a great roper - but the skill gap narrowed significantly after a while. He was a Mexican dude and there was another Mexican guy who went by co0L, I believe. He was a really good roper too.

In the *very* early days of WA, the best overall player was a Brazilian dude named BadCereal. I am talking about the first year, maybe a bit more... at least that's what my memory is telling me.

Yeah I remember BadCereal being the very highest ranked player on WormNET at one point, I can't remember the other person, but the top 2 players were BadCereal and someone else.

Then all that time spent chasing Elite rank personally only for WormNET to get hacked and ranks taken down. At least I did earn my legit fiery health bar!  :'(
