Iam curious about that thing of play poker for a living... how that really works? u just started with a few amount of money and now u every month take ur "profit" playing? to pay ur bills?
pretty much. wouldn't recommend it anymore though, online poker has been on a decline and it has gotten pretty tough :). I was fortunate enough to have an old c&c clan mate coach me who was top 3 at heads up (1v1) poker so it was pretty easy for me.

the problem is to get to the point where you don't lose money online would require hundreds of hours if you start from scratch and without knowing your current skill level it's really hard to give tips. a few years ago one could just recommend  a few books but all these books are outdated nowadays and you actually have to pay for good coaching videos. almost everyone loses money playing poker so you should probably just play some play money and have fun :).

To give you an idea of how much poker has changed in recent years. 3 or 4 years ago Phil Ivey was considered the best player. Last year he was down 1mio+ and games actually formed around him at the highest limits and ppl would stop playing once he left the table.

Hey spalding, always refreshing to see oldies crawling under the rocks. I'm always up for some elites so you can message me if you see my snooper on.

Another poker fanatic here and yea I agree its getting harder to beat higher stakes games (online especially)
but micro-stakes especially are still really crushable so if someone is interested in the "poker lifestyle" and make some extra money just watch a bunch of videos on youtube, especially theory stuff. Don't try to bluff in micro-stakes, unless you have good reads - just play ABC poker you learn from videos/articles and playing according to bankroll management you are going to make money.

And if your anything like me, your most costly problem is going to be how you handle yourself when downswings eventually hit even when you are playing +EV game (basically meaning you were making the correct decisions, because its all that matters in the long run). Keep your head straight on the mental side and one should get paid. :)

I would suggest 888poker because micros are easy to beat or Unibet because one can't use softwares on it so the games are easy to beat and there aint any hardcore "grinders" on them. Finding a good poker software and a deposit bonus deal are evething to be considered to the +EV factor because why would you want to play in a harder game if you dont have to, right? Oh and you also get free 8 dollars/euros (I think) when you register just to check it out. If your cards hit right from the start, one should be able to build a bankroll from it.

In a nutshell, hard and getting harder by the day to make a living out of playing poker but theres still easy money to made on the lower stakes.

If I would be making a career out of it, it would be cash tournies non-stop and taking drunk people money on the casinos.

I wont be though, worms for lyfe.

Hm, im curious what changed in last time, spalding. As I said, didnt play much poker last years.

And yea nino, luck in the short, skill in the long. After hundreds of hands /games the better player (skillwise) will win, for sure. If you play 100 heads-ups against me, you mabye win some games with luck and some with skill. But in the end, the score is 75:25. When you join a tourney and it ends with a busted full house, its bad luck, cause only one tourney. You cant fold a full house and you have to call that f@#!ing all-in. You also knew he was a aggro donk but hey, he had the better full house and you are gg. After 100 tourneys you will have the better stats then that aggro donk you lost unlucky some time ago.

Luck in the short, skill in the long. And not only in every game, even life is running like that. People who dont get this will always babyrage and cry and yelling opop imba and will never learn how to improve. For example kinslayer, he is exactly that kind of a guy.

@Free, nice from you to invite Spalding for an Elite. But hey, you also have one eac match open so get it done ffs..  ;D

Tips like:  Get pocket aces, limp, limp, limp, the SHOVE on the river!!  Pro plays!

up against straight draw?  flush draw?  no problem!  all in!  KURWA!

If you want easy and fast money, try playing some cash games on Paddy Power poker (bookmark store with their own poker client). Newbies at their finest, it actually get's boring after few tables. Didn't try large ones tho, was playing just to kill boredom few times.

Hm, im curious what changed in last time, spalding. As I said, didnt play much poker last years.

technology has developed a lot and playing by "feel" won't cut it anymore. There are GTO solvers now that most high stakes players use making the game a lot more mathmetical than before. GTO means game theory optimal, you basically try to play a strategy that cannot get exploited (taken advantage of). this is why players who mainly relied on their intuition and feel like phil ivey struggle nowadays.
