Giga Liga
« on: February 14, 2014, 02:53 PM »
Hey all,

I just read about Giga Liga in another thread here, oh boy lovely memories ;)

I tried to remember the finals of the Grand Slams, but even with the help of the net it's not so easy to get that information.
Does anyone remember, or is there any page where it is listed?

Grandslam I (29./30.11.2003):
(WWP) Top3: nakra, ??, ??
Finals: nakra ?:? ??
Prize?

Grandslam II (22.05.2004):
(WWP) Top3: Turan, ??, ??
Finals: Turan ?:? ??
Prize: I think Turan got a PC worth 1000€, but he was complaining that he got the PC just months or a year after his winning

Grandslam III (21.08.2004) @ GamesConvention:
No idea. Was Worms played?!??

Grandslam IV (04.06.2005):
(WA) Top3: nakra, tradacee, medal
Finals: nakra 2:1 tradacee
Prize: 2000€, 1000€, 500€
I know for sure that it was planned to give out 2nd and 3rd prize as hardware like graphic board ect., But somehow they f@#!ed up and decided after the finals, that 2nd and 3rd just get the money. I know that trada was quite happy about that :D

Grandslam V (20./21.08.2005) @ GamesConvention:
(WA) Top3: medal, gonzo, ??
Finals: medal 2:1 gonzo
Prize: 2000€, ??, ??

I think that was the last Grand Slam featering Worms.
Anyone of you can remember and fill in some of the ??.

Cheers  ::)

GOOOOOD that brings back memories, seeing Toni and Karol sitting there!! :D
Hi Michael btw (or am I mixing up first names?), I can only really recall the last GS because I was there as a spectator as well. :)

Edit: Okay wtf, I just found this, it's a HUGE archive of GIGA TV videos, one of them says "Grand Slam". Too bad I'm not familiar with downloading from one-click-hosters like rapidshare. :(

Edit2: GS V 3rd place was Tweenies.

Edit3: GS IV playoff groups.

I try to wake up medal, he might have some more information.

One of the best thing was the Fast Challenge button. Few seconds and you got an opponent.

Rabbit, we had minimum 10 battles against eachother. Guess against flatpolak I had to play 30 times..   :D

edit, found a replay from gigaliga 2005 vs JohnMcClane. Oh I love moles ^^

:) Shame worms got removed there, killed whole german online scene  :(

But o well, good memories yeh

"Da ist er wieder, unser freund, der maulwurf!"

Wish they would show pro-gaming on my tv. Although I guess it can be hard to understand games you don't play. It tends to go too fast in most games and you don't really understand whats going on/who's winning and all that..

Goes for gigaliga too I guess. Ropeschemes are much easier to understand. I'm pretty sure people would love to see a good rope match.

Pro gaming has never been able to be popular on tv in USA, even the popular games here like call of duty and halo.  There is a huge USA following of games on twitch though.

If you wanna watch some Progaming I recommend esgn.tv, they cast them every day Mo-Fr, called Fight Night.

And guess what, it's also produced in Germany. :D
