Hello

Hi. Joined up today and shared some sound banks. 2 of which I created back in 1999 using samples from the pc game Kingpin: Life of Crime. I found them on an old hard drive yesterday and was looking for a Worms Armageddon forum and found this place (thank you google). The other is from film Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels. I have no idea who created that one but it was around 1999 that I found it.
Anyway, I just thought I'd introduce myself and hope this is the right place to do that. I recently re-discovered Worms Armageddon in the sale on gog.com and have just set up an older pc in my man cave (garden shed) to play it on

Hello MadPete,

Welcome to TUS. You came into the right place! Worms Armageddon is still being updated and works on newer PCs as well.
Due to massive misunderstandings: MonkeyIsland refers to an island not a monkey. I would be a monkey, if my name was IslandMonkey meaning a monkey who is or lives on an island. MonkeyIsland is an island which is related to monkeys. Also there's been a legend around saying MonkeyIsland is a game. So please, think of me as an island or a game.

Welcome. Post pictures of the shed  :) jk  ;D

Eh, I'm not sure about that. An old rig is probably better for this game, he's doing the right thing imo. Personally, now that I have a bomb of a PC, I miss the old one I had simply because Worms is the only game that microstutters for me - and that ruins a lot of matches. I talked with StepS about it but there's nothing we can do about it, no matter the settings I try. So yeah, there's that...

Same here. My previous 10 year old PC played WA perfectly. I got a new PC about 6 months ago (5950X, RTX 3090) and was sad to find that WA constantly lags. I spent ages trying everything I could think of but had no luck, so I had to stop playing.

And hopefully now you will not have a poor computer to blame if you play badly.  :)

I also just built a new computer a few months ago with the following parts:

CASE ~ be quiet! Pure Base 500DX ATX Mid Tower

MOTHERBOARD ~ Asus TUF GAMING X570-PRO (WI-FI) ATX AM4

CPU ~ AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core

CPU COOLER ~ be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM

STORAGE 1 ~ Western Digital Black SN850 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD

STORAGE 2 ~ Crucial MX500 1 TB 2.5" SSD

RAM ~ G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2x16 GB DDR4-3600 CL16

GRAPHICS ~ NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti

PSU ~ Corsair RM (2019) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX

MOUSE - Logitech G300s

KEYBOARD - Corsair Vengeance K65 (TKL) / Logitech k740

CAM ~ Logitech C922 Pro Stream 1080p Webcam

MIC ~ Blue Yeti X Professional USB Microphone

STREAMDECK ~ Elgato Stream Deck (15 Customizable LCD Keys)

I know it might seem excessive writing down all the extra peripherals, though those are always running in the background so might be useful, as I have Logitech Gaming Software and Logitech G Hub running for switching mouse profiles and webcam/mic settings for streaming. From what I understand things like that can be the reason some games and apps have issues because of drivers or something, not really an expert on that technical stuff.

As you can see, most parts are pretty modern, other than GPU, because it's impossible to get a brand new GPU for MSRP and to be honest I don't need a new GPU the 1660ti is more than good enough to play any game and the CPU is more important for video editing and music production.

Maybe it's GPU dependent?

Actually, not only does this run Worms Armageddon perfectly, it runs Worms Armageddon and Rocket League simultaneously so I can switch between tabs and practise setting up aerials and flip resets while waiting on other people taking their turn if they are quiet and don't chat much, no lag, no microstutters.

On that note, maybe someone who lives nearby may be interested:

I have a spare PC i'm not using:

i7-4790 - CPU
16gb RAM - (DDR3)
2TB SATA HDD
256GB SSD

I had a GTX 970 for it as well though nobody wanted it so I sold that separately, though it is an integrated CPU so it still runs and can handle very basic games.

If anyone lived nearby in Scotland you would be welcome to take it, you could find a GTX 970 for sale for like £100 - £150. That's the GPU I was using to play and stream CWT 2020 on, while also using After Effects to make the pre-stream video stuff for my channel.

Nope, I tried everything as already stated  :(

Good for you! I wish I could say the same.

I don't think I've ever talked to you regarding this problem, and I'm not able to find any log. Besides, you have a thread where there were a bunch of suggestions at the bottom to which you have not reacted yet. I would suggest trying them first (as well as wkAntiLag).
There are a lot more different possibilities and possible tweaks out there and I'm sure you have not tried even half of them yet.
Dec 30 2013 23:59:44 <StepS> windowed mode isn't the only thing you need about frontend
Dec 30 2013 23:59:49 <StepS> you need it to be actually bigger
Dec 31 2013 00:00:13 <StepS> it actually is very small on my 15-inch full HD screen
Dec 31 2013 00:00:25 <StepS> while running at 640x480 or stretched mode makes it fuzzy
Dec 31 2013 00:00:44 <StepS> this problem has been around since the Worms Armageddon's release and no one has even tried to beat it

It was a long time ago, maybe on Discord or Steam? Can't remember. I'll try the wormkit modules though, since those are the only things I haven't tried at this point. (Oh and yeah, I can assure you I tried way, way more than half of the tweaks  ;D)
