so I was cleaning out my office and found my WA and WWP discs. I havent played in at least 14 years. Shit I was still living at home with my mom when I played. Since then I have moved 4 different times. But I kept bringing the discs with me. Maybe I thought I would have a Rocky like return and kick some ass but I never installed them. I did play Worms on Xbox Live when it came out on the Live Arcade. It was a bit more difficult playing with a controller. But I was ranked top 10 for quite some time. Anyway because I saw the discs I did some googles to see if there was still a community. I browsed around quickly and saw some familiar names. Maybe a few more will pop up but hello. I hope all is well. What is up?

SUSUII YES! That is the one. There was one other clan after that. I believe I left SUSUII because I was never on at the same time as the rest of the clan. So getting in matches was tough. So I left and joined HEX I think. I lasted another 6 months or so after WL died. I stopped playing for a year and made a comeback on cl2k singles and dominated that. But it still wasnt much fun anymore. WL was so much fun. But even then the endless hours of friendlies and talking shit in chat. I was always a night owl so staying up late and mixing it up in chat with all the European players. Good times.

Holy shit this is amazing. Rn5 or red number 5 the cancerous ingredient in gummy worms was my first clan. Ghetto hawk was the leader and I kept in touch with that guy for a minute. you know what now that I think about it you were the same age as most in the community. I was in my early 20's back then and it seemed I was older than most that played. I just turned 35. Man that hex link brings back a shit load of memories. Especially seeing all the AIM handles. I stopped using AIM a LOOOOOOONG time ago. I only used it to communicate with people who I played worms withand a couple of friends. But every once in a while I would logon via Aim Express just to see if my friends were still on it. I would get a ton of random messages 3 and 4 years after I stopped playing from people I never even played with or talked to challenging me to league games. Well one day I get this message from a girl. I had never talked to her before nor did I know her. But we start talking and I am asking how she got my username. She wouldnt tell me. Well we talked for a little while and she sent me a few nude pics. Very attractive girl. Then before she signs off she lets me know she got my username from her soon to be ex boyfriends friendlist. I guess he did some shit to piss her off and she started sending all his friends nudes. Hahaha thanks?

So, im not totally sure i remember kradie.. but since i been back this past month, i have had some games with him, and talked with him in AG.. and from what i have seen/experienced, i thought he was a pretty cool guy.

so, when you did quit the game, did you just totally erase it from your memory?? if you did not save the CD-rom and come across it from time to time, would you never have returned to the game/forums??
for me, i never really left the game for long, i have had many many many 1 year breaks, 2 years breaks, 3, and even maybe 4 years break, but i always had worms in the back of my mind, or kept in touch on forums... i think because i never got involved with any other games (mainly for the fear of getting addicted, and wasting too much time, as i did with worms) it was easy for me to stick around worms for so long...
but i always wondered how people that spent hours and hours, and years and years on this game, could just disappear and never even google to see if any leagues are active, or try to download the game to see if Wnet is active, or even just to toss yourself around on the rope for old time sake.
so in short, i guess the questions are:
have you ever thought of the game, without coming across the CD-rom?
have you ever had the urge to play again in the years since you been gone?
have you ever wondered if people still play, and/or old schoolers are still around?
when you did decide to search for a w:a league/forum/community... were you surprised that w:a still had an active community, and were you surprised to see so many old schoolers that you knew from back then?? or did you expect this?
these may seem like odd questions, i just really have always been curious how it could be such a big part of many peoples lives in the past, but never check back in.

My intent is not pass judgment on other people here. It's pretty self-explanatory when one reads the content of each posts.
I am sure the majority of the posts submitted by people on these forums are thought out. It's just a random banter with no emphasis of personal conflict. It is as you said ''You do not know him'' but ''he do not know me'' So it goes pretty much hand in hand. And I am very sure that a lot of you are great people once one get to know each of you.
Although my first post in this thread was just a humorous confession regardless of truth or not, but it was not taken lightly. Such approach (Which was bold on my end) disturbed the beehive, causing mass debacle of something that should had been taken lightly or ignored.

I was DJing a lot and I was working full time at my normal 9-5. Also new girlfriend who is now my wife. I always wondered about the community more so than the game. But I never really actively sought out forums or anything. Had I never come across my CD I probably would not have looked/found this place.

I have never had the urge to play again. Although I might give it a go sometime soon. I actually told my wife about this post and she remembers me playing when we first got together. She told me to install it. MAYBE. I really didnt expect this thriving community. I figured when Team17 abandoned the games everything would just die. This was very surprising.

i guess the age difference plays a big part in it, i never considered that...
being that you started in your 20's im sure you had better things to do, and it was not a major part of your life... for me, being that i started at 12 or 13.. it was a big part of my life, especially being that i was just discovering the internet at that time. i was completely consumed with worms, there was not enough hours in the day for me to play worms :D
so, i just could never imagine leaving the game, and never looking back... but as you mentioned, i guess it depends what age you started playing at... that makes sense...
anyway, you should take your wife's advice, and install the game... its not like you have to play like you used to.. just casual games, maybe even some league games.. i use worms to relax me.. at the end of the day sometimes, ill get on worms and have some games, can relax, and not think about any stressful shit in life, just toss the worm around the map :D

For those who don't know Rob, he was one of the coolest players on WormNET. When I talk about the "good old days" of Worms this is what I mean... great ppl who just aren't around anymore. I would play W:A far more often if people would just come back. There's a small handful of people who still play that I enjoy talking to, but nothing like the old days.

no facebook brother sorry. Back in the myspace days old mistakes kept finding me and creep back in my life. So I have stayed away from ever version since then.
But I did install the game last night. I played one game. I am on right now for a little while longer. Practicing my roping skills. If you want to call them that. I'll leave it installed and see when I can find time to play. Going to try and give this thing another go.

as i said, you dont have to play hours each day... just once in a while pop in for some games, maybe find a clan to join and have some 2v2 clan games...
you will find its pretty relaxing after a stressful day, and most of all... fun ;D hope to see you soon man.

i found out I now suck at roping and the game that I rarely lost in Elite I also suck in that too. Gonna have to clear my schedule and start a Rocky style training montage.

the competition in elite is about... 10x what it used to be...
back then, there were only a hand full of good elite players, now.. just about everyone is good... there is probably even strategies that were not used back in your day as well...

not happening. I am chalking up these losses to forgetting the little things. I used to lose 1 out of maybe 10 matches before. I can get back there no problem.

After 10+ years you surely have lost a huge amount of skill, no matter how good you were, that's why I do a warmer or two every month. It kinda helps keeping a decent amount of skill, or at the very least minimize the effect if I was not playing at all.
Btw, if you want we can play a roper now. :) Gonna be in #AG for 10-15 minutes just in case.

Hello everyone, I'm hijacking RobOne's thread to introduce myself. I too haven't played in forever and I recently reinstalled the game after I saw it on sale on Steam.
I used to be active in the early 2000's and while I do remember some names on here (Avirex, Komodo, Anubis), my memories of my time on WA are pretty blurry :) I used to be buddies with FlowingWater, marco, AlienElite, etc. I forget the handles of most of my former friends, sadly.
I was referred here by someone I met on WormNet today, nabwhoo. He was pretty good at roping so I'm glad there is still some talent out there and that this great game still has some life in it!

i am not gone!!!! f@#!ing holidays are busy times when you have a family. The free time I have these days between work and my son and his amateur hockey career is late at night. Nobody is really on then. But I still stop in from time to time.

still not gone. I was on the other night and of course like all nights nobody was. I think I need to reinstall the game it is giving me issues. I have not gotten any better though. I guess you have to play more than once every two weeks. Oh well I guess I have to live with my new shitty skills.
