Someone please explain me what is the damage a flamethrower does depending on..

if u block the worm on the map while the fire burns below him, you will get more damage due that reason.

Flying flames (the elongated ones) deal little damage. You should always try to make the worm touch the flames sitting on the ground (the star-shaped ones) as long as possible.
