Someone who insulted zar. Other than that, it could be very suspicious.

That's a long ''Hmm''. Do you hmm that long in real life & much at all?

WA community is small, so I think it can be reasonable to assume that people we have never seen might be a potential alias. A bit of a unfortunate affair. But now that I think of it, in Illusion's case, it seems like he's from the old Worms 2 clan TMNR The Mutant Ninja Ropers. The leader (Or one of the members of this clan), came up with a script for Worms 2 that allowed players to exceed the numbers of rope swings, so that the player could have infinite taps. A pretty cool idea of its time and an achievement of the roping evolution. I did play with one of the members sometime ago, he seemed like a chill guy, we had fun, unfortunately I forgot his name.

I'm just skeptical, and it's not far fetched that someone who needs attention to enjoy a game would research people who used to play 20 years ago and impersonate them.

It's happened many times before and will probably happen many times again, funny thing is it's probably the same few people doing it  :D

You can't even really hold that much evidence against someone from that long ago, people change drastically in that timeframe, behaviour, location, language.

You would think someone who hasn't played a game for 15+ years would usually look really rusty as well.

I could be wrong, but I ain't buying it, it sucks and feels lame tbh, but I just don't trust this kind of thing anymore after all the people who have faked it over the years.

But, at least it creates activity I guess...

So let me get this right.... People that alias, creates activity to the league, is a good thing?

It is like saying... People that cheats, brings activity to the league. Is that a good thing too?

And what? We are supposed to accept this? Well according to you, we could.

Why do people alias? Fun? Attention? Trouble?

Have you aliased?

This seems mental to a lot of people, but it happens, i'm not saying it's definitely true in this case, but it happens.

When you used to be one of the best, and on that journey got lots of attention, lots of compliments, but then it becomes so normal for that person to do good they don't receive as much attention anymore. I've seen people in this situation take on the identity of a noob, or someone that hasn't played for many years, because it gives them attention and compliments again.

Look at music, artists become a huge thing for a while, topping charts everybody loves them, radio playing their music everyday, then all of a sudden you are like "I haven't heard of xxxx for a while, I wonder what happened to them". Now, these bands just stick with their loyal fans, move on gracefully, and get on with life. But they don't have that buzz of being "The new hot thing" ever again, and for some people being that "new hot thing" is the best feeling in the world.

Granted, it's nowhere near as common in such a little game like Worms Armageddon, but the general idea is the same, and some people like being the centre of attention.

On the other hand, some people do it just to see how people react, and others might do it for privacy.

It's probably an alias but who cares

Low probability its some w2 player, he was trying to explain to me his back story when i didn't even ask questions or care.

The question still remains: Is it okay to use an alias to bring activity to a league?

In my opinion, no, they should play as their original name people knew them by, and if they were hated in the past, they should change their behaviour and earn respect the hard way.

^^ That's if they are playing Leagues, don't care if they alias and not playing Leagues.

i don't care about previous respect or anything like that, people have a right to a change of identity.

The only problem is previous rankings in the league and using it unfairly in terms of points earned etc.

MI could approve a change of name in that case without it being publicly announced to the community.
