Gaming Central / Against the Jellub
« on: February 12, 2021, 01:13 PM »
Last year I made a game, which I've uploaded as (very) "early access" on GameJolt. Here's the link, and here's some introductory text from there.

https://gamejolt.com/games/jellubs/584379

Quote
It's a tactical turn-based (or turn-based strategy) game in which simple autonomous machines must destroy blob-enemies ("Jellubs") on a hexagonal grid. The player controls the positions and movement of the machines, as well as their upgrades. The Jellubs, which come in different types, land in random places at the start of every turn. The USP of this game is that the player can see four or more preview-screens of the exact landing patterns of the incoming waves of Jellubs, which lets the player plan where to move the machines, for optimal effect.

There are lots of gameplay videos to watch.

It would be hard for me to go much further with this project. I'd be interested to hear any opinions from wormers. Thanks  :)

Very probably yes. Maybe the time's ripe for some FTM tournaments.

Thank you for your nice words, Ashtar, and congratulations on your silver medal. I also salute your positive attitude after losing a game you could've won - most other wormers would've gone away in a huff, or become abusive.

Thanks for organising, Tomt. And "gratz" to Korydex, a somewhat underrated normal-player IMO.

It's a date!  :)

Korydex and Ashtar, if you choose a date and time that suits me, I can host for you.

OMG this works!  :-\   I always assumed that team info was internal to the game. After all these years, I can't believe the Deathmatch and Quick Game names can be changed!  :o  :)

Get with the times T17!!

Lol. This game has even more kult-value now  ;D
They should replace him with Meghan Markle  ;D

Here's a question about the Royalty team: who is Sal?

My best guess is Sally Acorn from the Sonic universe, but I don't know if she existed in 1999. Knowing Team17, there was probably a tea lady called Sal who worked in their building, and it's her.

You mean the 4v4 game against the Royalty team? I don't think it can be changed in any way. Do you not like having to play against Prince Andrew?  :D

Edit: the worms' names can be changed, scroll down to read how!

I've come to view the sexuality issue as tedius and can't be bothered to read more about it. I think anglicans are divided on it, especially West (pro) vs Africa (anti), so it's another example of the Broad Church phenomenon (which isn't a bad thing). Most of the hard anti-gay stuff is in the OT, so if you think the NT is more important, the issue is less obvious. And even in terms of the OT, maybe it was debauchery/promiscuity of a general nature that caused the downfall of Sodom and Gomorroh, via STDs.

I would advise that people on both sides of the fence respect each others' opinions, and the best practical solution is probably to tolerate homosexuality within a "heteronormative" culture (i.e. don't promote it, like we do in the West).

Seventh-Day Adventism is one of the more extreme formulations of Christianity, whose less attractive elements include creationism and the weird idea that judgement of souls began in 1844. In reality, the most significant event of 1844 was probably the completion of Mendelssohn's violin concerto  :)  I am also amused by the coincidence that the author of this book, Ellen White, shares her name with one of England's top women footballers.

More generally, however, Rafka is acting in accordance with the Great Commission with these posts of his, and in a non-denominational sense I support him. But instead of 7DA, you might like to check out Anglicanism, which is more sensible and credible; catholic AND reformed, it is the "middle way" that gives you the best of both worlds of Catholicism and Protestantism. If you're dissatisfied with a meaningless hedonistic and depressive life, open your mind and give Jesus a chance. And remember that God is not "a big man in outer space" (or "an object among objects" to use Aquinas's phrase) but the basis and foundation of existence as we know it, objective AND subjective. Don't go to science for explanations here, because this only deals with objective reality.

In terms of books to read, I read this one last year and thought it was very good. I don't know if a free e-version exists, but here it is:

SiD v Kory, tasty game! Streamworthy.

If the mysterious Morgan finishes in the top 3, he/she may have to disclose his/her true identity in order to receive his/her winnings. If he/she decides that secrecy is more important than money, then perhaps it should be split between the other two podium-finishers.
