Tech Support / Re: Can't make a scheme with tools such as jetpack
« on: March 23, 2020, 01:42 AM »
i'm the full wormage now, but still the options are incomplete. [...] The Select Worm appears, but no jetpack or any other tool.
That shouldn't be happening. I just reset my team file (and made sure this locked the extra options) and enabled Full Wormage via TeamED, that alone enabled all the unlockables. Did you maybe miss that you need to go into the "weapon cheats" menu (one of the buttons top-right, with a star) in the weapon configuration menu in order to get to utility options?

Schemes / Re: Need help with creating scheme for party play
« on: March 23, 2020, 12:51 AM »
Despite I left super weapons on, they are disabled in game.
I'd like to ask what exactly do you mean with "super weapons on", to make sure there's no misunderstanding. Are you talking about the top-right yellow button in the weapon options of a scheme? Are you sure it doesn't have an effect, considering it only enables the possibility of a random event with a number of limitations, rather than doing something obvious instantly?

General discussion / Re: Can't enter WormNET, banned message
« on: January 13, 2020, 10:55 PM »
If you get a message that you're banned when connecting, check the green text in the message log at the left bottom corner. This usually happens when you, someone on your network or someone who had your IP address previously had a virus or open proxy on their computer. For that reason, your IP was added to a blacklist. This is done to prevent flooders, spammers and griefers from connecting to WormNET using public proxies and vulnerable/infected computers and causing trouble.

To remove your IP from the blacklists, visit DroneBL and EFnet RBL, submit your IP address (it should be filled in automatically) and, if you're listed, send a removal request. You should also scan your computer for viruses and malware, otherwise you'll be blacklisted and banned again. Once you removed yourself, just wait for your WormNET ban to expire (this currently takes 12 hours), and you should be able to connect again.

Schemes / Re: Land Schemes OR Rope Schemes?
« on: January 07, 2020, 07:37 PM »
How am I generalizing?
By calling a gameplay-diverse group of schemes fast for the sole fact they're based around the rope. Shopper plays pretty slowly, Trick Race and the likes can take a lot of tries to progress for non-top players...

Should my curiosity be denied? Should people stop making surveys? Should people stop partaking in surveys? Should we not ask what people like? Should we stop making conversation? My intent was not to divide people, cause a big uproar with pitchforks etc.
What even... why all of that. Sounds paranoidal.

Not getting the relevance of those statistics either, they only represent a few chosen schemes, ofc not equally. Am I not understanding the main question of the topic? Would "I prefer land schemes simply because of Elite" (for example) count as a valid answer, even though it only really talks about one scheme?

Schemes / Re: Land Schemes OR Rope Schemes?
« on: January 07, 2020, 07:56 AM »
I prefer rope based scheme because it is fast and fun
Yet Shopper exists. Think you've generalizing things too much.

I can't say the same about an intermediate where you can't get bored
The scheme where half the games between players of similar skill level are decided by auto worm placement and turn order, and the other half by whoever fails first? Yeah how can it possibly be boring to continue playing something you've already lost for 20m?! Then there's the tactic of using up all 45s of turn time just for Sudden Death, even if 10s were more than enough to reach the position for the shot. And girdering and teleporting only to delay the inevitable.

I play different cards
Not enough Google Translate proof-reading.

General discussion / Re: 4.0?
« on: January 01, 2020, 04:09 AM »
Nope. 3.8 was "almost ready" a year ago, and there's still no simple-to-find announcement about what's going on.

I never said 4.0 was ready. Work on it hasn't even begun, let alone being ready.

(Edit: BTW, by an alternative definition of what counts as part of 4.0, CyberShadow has done a significant amount of work on the non-W:A-specific API aspects of it. To my way of thinking, though, "beginning work on 4.0" would mean working on W:A-specific aspects.)

There are a ton of finished features and fixes already implemented for 3.8, but release is blocked by some other things that aren't ready. I'm trying my best to make it ready, to meet the end-of-the-year deadline.

"Why is it still joining #PartyTime 10s after the start? Let's check WebSnoop"

Waited a bit more, nope. Other channels were fine. Snooper restart fixed it. Maybe some weird internet hiccup.

Just to be sure, you did resave the team after changing the flag file, right?
btw resaved the original Skynet flag in IrfanView, works

Files Comments / Re: File #1908, hq_ninja_rope_effects.zip

unzip them and upload them separately plz
What'd be the reason for this?
Possibility to only download one of the files. Example of how it looks like to an end user: https://www.tus-wa.com/files/file-1769/

Announcements / Re: Worms Armageddon 3.8.0 changelog sneak peek
« on: October 04, 2019, 10:43 AM »
Was there really a demand for big and colored maps back in the day?
Was there a demand for electricity back in stone age?

This feature is the reason why modern worms era is so bad. Everyone plays on big maps instead of tight ones. I hate big rr, tower rr, trick race and other noob schemes that were made because of that feature.
We shouldn't promote drug use on TUS.
Do it in safety of your home guys, stop sharing opinions with others when you're high.

there were leagues before replays
Were they any good? Usability, cheat-proofing etc

built-in ranks which allowed to play ranked games within the game. They could bring it back
How long would it last before getting hackered again?

Why not implement wkWormNAT into the game
It currently depends on a community server, what if it goes down? If everyone was to start using it, would the server go fine with this extra load?
Remaking all of this into an official feature with proper support would be great yeah.

As for cheaters, some kind of anti-cheating software could be developed. Just like it's done in counter-strike and other games.
While some kinds of cheats can be avoided by restructuring the game logic, others aren't really avoidable - such as macros or aimbots. One exception to this are anti-cheat modules, such as GameGuard and Valve Anti-Cheat. We really don't want to go in this direction, since such software usually intrudes on players' privacy and is expensive (in terms of resources) to develop and maintain.
[...]
Blocking WormKit-like software is impossible, short of going the GameGuard-like rootkit-spyware route.

it's hard to find ttrr players anymore because everyone plays big rr instead.
Just play tight Big RR maps then.
Doubt TTRR's player count would increase much even if Big RR was suddenly gone forever. I wouldn't want to train for months, find a good keyboard and find a worthy opponent who did the same, all just to have a good game.
I guess bigrr is like billiards and ttrr is like snooker...

billiards is more accesible for most, while snooker requires more precise control

Without replays, unfortunately you can't trust everyone to play fairly :/
*shrugs* I can't trust everyone to play fairly even with replays.

Tech Support / Re: CD Player questions in 2019...

Update installers: https://worms2d.info/Updates_(Worms_Armageddon)#Archive
In game's root directory should be update documentation, see the "Supplementary Documentation" section for a summary of features added in updates.

I own the original CD - can I play with people from Steam?
And GOG and everything. Except those who decide to lock themselves into LAN emulators like GameRanger.

can I trick Steam into showing me as in game for my Steam friends to see?
Library -> Add a game -> Add a non-Steam game, needs a Direct 3D renderer chosen in W:A's options to display Steam overlay (Main Menu -> the button with questions bottom-right -> the "Advanced" button bottom-right), the lastest is the bestest.

it sounds like 3.7.2.2. is latest version albeit controversial?  Do you guys actually use 3.7.2.1 still because of this?
Mods that depend on game logic (such as RubberWorm) break every update, and nobody could be bothered updating them for 3.7.2.2, probably because it's got no visible changes and is easy to downgrade back to 3.7.2.1 (just launch the 3.7.2.1 installer).

I am digging through old HDDs to try and unearth my account stats, teamnames, replays, etc...
Just in case, stats and teams are in the \User\Teams\WG.WGT file.

I will host some Walk for weapons / chuteraces / mole shoppers / t17
Moles and Team17 should go fine, but don't expect random people on the server to know WfW or chute races, nowadays you'll need to call your friends to play other schemes than few mainstream ones. Maybe somebody more active&caring can list them, I only can name Intermediate and its countless variations, often in style of "let's add 10 bananas because explosions", and Shopper.

is there a way to upgrade the limit?
You can't create more than that amount. This is a limitation of the file format that cannot be bypassed at the moment.
