Championship 2013 / Re: EAC 2013 - Smalltalk

Random00 vs Mablak first round!!!  :D

Yeah, that's very... convenient :P I feel the need to let this out in the open, that schedule of Random looks super, super rigged!! He's facing Mablak in the first round, at the best possible time when Mablak is at his weakest point. There was a 6 percent chance of that happening. Furthermore, Random's drawn with the top-3 of last years final table in the next three rounds. All of them having been quite inactive in the past few months. You usually need many games under your belt before performing at toplevel. What I mean is, they will probably be playing on a more stable, high level later on in the tournament. Crash is a mess right now, everyone can see that. To finish it off, SPW is facing Mablak in the last round, the way I see it as a last chance to help out Seb if needed.

I'm not trying to kill the nice atmosphere and positive energy that's been around in this tournament, but I feel it is better to be open about this. In this way people will post their opinion and discuss it, rather then talking shit behind each others backs. Am I the only one who reacted at the schedule when seeing it for the first time? I could be analyzing it too much. Just seems like there's a dead fish here and it smells really bad. Am I rude and/or disrespectful towards you guys, Random, SPW and Ray, for even thinking in this direction? It's not a lack of trust, it's more about using common sense and logic. Let's say the schedule was not fixed, you must have seen it coming that questions would be raised when seeing the schedule yourself for the first time. I guess telling about how the schedule was drawn could clear things up. Tiger used to post pictures of how he made the pairs, with paper, a hat and the help of his mother ::)

What about barman though?

My EAC2013-prediction:

1. Mablak
I believe the grand prize will be a fight between Random and Mablak this year. Mablak and Random being the best players in different timeperiods - it should be very close. Mab has been playing alot of intermediate for a long time now, which has given him both advantage and disadvantage when it comes to the Elite-scheme. There are no long ropes in this scheme! Still, Mab should be the favourite for the title based on skills, experience and his professional approach to the game. In my opinion :P

2. Random
Random keeps impressing me. I was not surprised he won the last season in TEL, but I were also not expecting it. He's really a winning machine. Random's mentality when facing Mablak for their matchup will be decisive in my opinion - because the two points given in the match will most likely decide the winner. I'm not saying Random is scared to face Mablak or anything like that. But they are on the same level what goes skill and tactic - question is who's got the strongest mind? Can Random let go of old feelings and play fresh against Mablak? I'm not so sure

3. Franz
Franz has continued to play lots of league games in the classic league over the past years, maybe not in the same frequens as during FB or XTC, but still very actively. He's turned a bit inactive in the past few months though (lol), yet his experience and skills should be enough for another top spot. I'm thinking 3rd or 4th, coinflip.

4. Almog
Almog has also turned inactive because TUS bores him. How much will it affect his gaming? Not that much! Almog is in my opinion the type of player that can be inactive for a longer period of time and still hold an impressive high standard in his game. He is tough to meet over five games and won't give away many points this year either. Almog was the only player to beat Crash in 2012, and that with a 3-0 rec. I think he and franz will fight over the last medal behind Mablak and Random.

5. Crash
I was really impressed by Crash last year like everyone else, that he was going to win with such a solid margin would have given high odds. That being said, I'm not so impressed by his games in 2013. He has been rather inactive, and those games which he has played that I've seen have not been a champion worthy. I don't think Crash has a serious chance to win the title this year to be honest.

6. SPW
SPW finished as number 5 last year, quite a few points behind the 4th place and quite a few points a head of the 6th place. Should be aiming for a higher rank this year, but it won't be easy at all. I think SPW can finish from 3rd to somewhere midtable this year, it all depends on him :D I'm questioning his huge inactivity though, and think his placement on the table will suffer for it.

7. JohnMcClane
Class! When I hear the name JohnMcClane, all I can associate the name with is pure class. And die hard ofcourse. He's a true elitist and as the eliter he is, he should be fighting for a spot on the upper part of the table. I don't know how much he has prepared for the gig, maybe he hasn't at all, but McClane is class and class we will recieve.

8. Chuvash
Chuvash is a great intermediater, but nontheless also a great eliter. Had a great season at TEL last time it was active, and he was really tough to beat. It seems like he's in great shape, and I think he can make a very solid figure in this tournament. Chuvash reminds me a bit of Albino for some reason, and that's a compliment for sure.

9. Dulek
I thought Dulek had a nice championship last year with a split 6th place. SPW thinks Dulek is not satisfied with it, but I'm under the impression that it was a position Dulek was happy with. Dulek has very nice overallskills and I think he will have about the same amount of points as last year. This should hold to placement from 7-10 or so.

10. Crazy
Finished off on the upper part of the table last year, something Crazy was very satisfied with. Has a win/lose ratio of 50 percent in everything he does on WA, and 18-20 points (depending on the amount of participants), seems like a good guess. These points should be enough to end from 9th to 13th place.

11. Lukz
Lukz is not easy to place imo. He is one of the best players on TUS, and he's won countless of titles. Elite is one of his weakest schemes though, and I don't think he will be in the top. Lukz, or Artic which is a much better nickname, has still so much class in his gaming that any position in the bottom is not very likely either. Midtableposition for Lukz imo.

12. Chicken23
What to say? Tom, how good are you as we speak? One of the great giants in Elite, but that was in 2003, not 2013. C23 will surely be difficult to play for each and everyone in this years championship. I don't think he can perform on a high enough level in every game he plays to ensure a top rank. He's been so inactive! C23 is not like Almog, who can go through decades of not gaming, and still play like the old days.

13. HHC
What is experience? HereHeComes is! Probably the only player left from 1999 that is still active on a weekly basis. He is known for his default skills, and has a wide knowledge on how to make use of weapons in the most effecient way. Sheeps will be crossing maps in ways you never have seen. It will be exciting to see what position HHC can get. I think somewhere around 9-14 is the most likely one.

14. Free
Freeman2 had a dissapointing performance last year. Table kinda lies a bit, as Free had three matches which he was not able to play and loss by default. He loves WA, he really loves elite, and everybody knows about his real level in this scheme. I don't know what to expect, but he should have a nice chance to make a good tournament this year.

15. Devilage
A solid player, but also a lazy player. If focused throughout the whole championship, Devilage could very well win it. But the days when mushrooms finds its way through Dev's mouth and nose destroys for him. How determined will Dev be for a good pos? Or will he take a joint, give a f@#! and rage TUS? I think the joint will win in the end.

16. Ray
I find it difficult to place Ray on the standing/table as well. Dissapointing result last year, where I feel Ray took too much risk in his play and lost many games because of it. He lacks some experience compared to most of the other players, but one year has passed now and that is in his advantage. If Ray can play more simpleminded and stay cold and focused, then maybe he will finish mid/upper-table. Maybe!!

17. Seba
Pass? I want to say pass. Seba is a player I don't understand at all. He can beat anyone and lose for anyone. Playing Elite at his best is a pleasure to watch. Last years performance was a nightmare. I literally wanted to hang myself with his rope. I hope Seba can show himself from a more positive side this year. I'm skeptical though, he has not played that much in 2013, so that's why I'm giving him the same placement as last year.

18. Lales
Lales, I love you, you are one of my favourite players at worms. Still going active, and always with a great attitude towards everyone. Someone had to end on last place in 2012, and it was Lales in the end. Yet, he is not to be underestimated. Lales has lots of experience in Elite, and can win against everyone in this championship. He beated franz in 2011, and I won't be surprised if he beats another top-player this year.

Will there be two more participants, or is 18 the final number this year?

Leagues Complaints / Re: clanner limitation?
June 14, 2013, 08:09 AM
Only good thing out of this topic is the focus we got on activity. Only 20 clans have played in TUS this season, which is the lowest number since april 2009. 172 players have played in the league, which is the lowest number since july 2009. What has happend? How can we get the activity back to old level? ??? And to attract more players and clans to participate?

TUS Discussion / Re: barman and his bng skillz

This,

i think in order to even the playing field, we should as a community accept any visual aids, being there is no way to stop it/determine if someone is actually using them... and personally i dont see really anything wrong with having notes, if you want to be that competitive in this game to the point you take notes, and refer to them in games, you should be able to.... but thats something we all need to agree on, so everyone has equal opportunity and advantage.

and this:

Quote from: avirex on June 09, 2013, 03:05 AM
also dev, if you have not noticed your asshole attitude gets you nowhere... not in clans, not in complaint forums, and not here. if you think someone is cheating in roperace why dont you f@#!ing investigate? what in the hell makes you think that its MonkeyIslands job to do such things???  is it not enough he spent hours and hours, days and days, months and months making this site? and updating this site, and continues to maintain it day after day for our enjoyment... not only has he invested his time, but im sure he has invested money in this massive project we call TUS... if you dont think he is doing enough, maybe you should donate a large amount of money to him, to make up for his time, maybe then he can spend more time here trying to please your arrogant ass.  *rant over*

I agree with avi, we should allow visual aids. It's the only way to have a game with equal chances for everyone. I don't like Mablak's idea of a webcamstream of playoffs to prove you're not using visual aid, it's just too much fuzz. We have to clearly state that it's allowed, and move on. Anyhow, this thread has to come something good out from. We have to get a conclusion unlike last time, where the thread kinda died out it nothing. I think a poll where people vote Yes or No for allowing visual aid is the best solution.
#415
I agree with Csongi, well said my dear friend! Dev, usually I'd try to write something constructive here, but since you're an ignorant, disrespectful pothead, I'll just say: well, it's not worth it.

SPW, I thought we agreed upon that visual aid like that was not allowed. Can anyone dig out the conclusion of that topic again?

General discussion / Team17 forums closing
June 08, 2013, 09:10 AM
I don't know if you've heard, but as of the 12th of june, Team17 forums will be closed. You can read about it here: http://forum.team17.com/showthread.php?t=66377

That's quite sad actually. I haven't been using them that frequently like others, but the T17 forums have always been there since the start and never been removed like every other forum. They have standed out as a solid plattform where you can discuss and get help in this game. Team17 are going to focus on Facebook and Twitter. They're giving up the forums for FB and Twitter! :(

The only thing I won't miss are some of the guys over there who were all smartass and trying to smartass eachother out in every thread they had the chance too. It ruined alot of topics over there. At the same time, not every topic here is that clean either :P

Plutonic was also a member of BDD Komo.

Shady, Anubis, avirex, no one saw you at your peak, how rare. I have a theory though, remember WL? When Volcom was beating people in league ropers, when Volrin and Jmo were still warming it up, the NBR crew was at its best and TEA with masterguy and co were starting to invent pro rope racing. The peak of roping if you ask me. You missed all that, banned from WL and no where to be seen, that's why no one alive has seen you at your peak.

It's a bit weird that Komodo was voted as the best roper at WCC during the timeperiod of WL, Ropa. When you're talking about Volrin, Jmoberg, NBR and so on, what year are you referring to? You say the award is not relevant, but still, it's an award which provides facts. If the award is irrelevant, is/was Plutonic irrelevant as well? I was 11 years old when I was playing WL, from my own memory I can remember that Volcom was considered as one of the best ropers, if not the best, while I don't remember Komodo at all. That's just my personal experience.

Could you also define what you mean by pro rope racing Ropa? I'm interested in what you mean and your knowledge of it.
#420
Best roper sounds alot better then top-10 Komo, I think we'll leave it with that ;P Also worth to mention that another TUS'er won a Plutonics award from that same table: HHC and Kevrpgfan fronted as the most creative wormers of 2001.
