Yeah, that punch was amazing. :D
Also you said something about exploding crate with blowtorch, well it rarely happens. But let's see if the draw was possible with TA.
Someone TA the last turn pls. Round 5 - 25:46

Surely you can only explode a crate with blowtorch with "Loss of control doesn't end turn" enabled, right? Get your worm damaged, and then before the damage has a chance to be subtracted, blowtorch toward a crate while not holding any arrow keys.

This scheme does not have LDET, so I would be pretty sure that it's impossible to explode a crate with blowtorch.

(Incidentally, not that it matters, but Lupi's "Grenade" worm would be plopped by firepunch.)

It's possible to win though, never mind a draw:

Wow, Senator joined? I thought he insisted on playing Team17 only on islands.

Speaking of which, what order should we play the map types in? Both of these ways would alternate who-goes-first fairly, due to the odd number of map types:

  • Type1 Type2 Type3 Type1 Type2 Type3 ...
  • Type1 Type1 Type2 Type2 Type3 Type3...

I would lean toward Method #1. Both types of course only give the 3 map types equal representation if the number of games played is divisible by 3, but Method #2 is more likely to completely omit some map types from play, whereas Method #1 only requires that at least 3 rounds be played to give each type at least some representation.

Both methods distribute "who goes first" equally among the map types if the number of games played is divisible by 3.

Great to have a Team17 cup, but I must say I do not approve of the scheme. This was meant for Lupastic's Roofless T17. The longbow is a bit too weak, and lots of superweapons have been disabled that make for interesting, fun games.

I would prefer that this scheme be used.

Not 4.0, but likely 3.9 this year, and maybe even some more versions after that before the year's done. But I'd rather not say too much about it until it's closer to being ready for release. :-)

I felt bad counting this win, but I guess I can think of it as compensation for a similar error I made in Game #238474. Here is one way Camper could have won (playback at 25:38):

How come sock has progressed past the knockout stage when only 4 games have been played in his bracket, of which he played 2 and lost 1, and yet all 6 games in my bracket are done, but neither I nor Mega`Adnan have progressed? I really don't understand cups...

group 3: Deadcode vs G match is still to be played. I can't quite reach Deadcode anywhere, maybe if you read this DC, pm me on snooper? and I could call G to play with you tonight or tomorrow
Yes, I know. I was already working on scheduling my match with G. It might be difficult to find a time we can both play.

The winning attack I meant to do would have worked.

But because I didn't know if there'd be enough time on its fuse to make it the required distance, I went over to collect the other crate just in case. Then I didn't take the chance of aiming the crosshair down 1 notch from straight up with the view of the crosshair being cropped by the roof, because tapping the Down arrow quickly enough to do that sometimes is ignored and sometimes isn't, due to the way WA polls its keyboard input. But if that aiming is done in advance, there's plenty of time to do it:

disabling the freeze too was mainly my idea, due to it adds unnecessary luck factor to an already kinda luck based scheme. if one player has freeze and uses it before the nuclear trigger, thats a main luck factor and winning factor. its more balanced if noone has it, I could compare this why noone should have clusters or petrol bombs in shopper, so that flame traps can be avoided, and 120 damages with clusters can be avoided. for me, at least having freeze in team17 is the same pattern, if I use freeze at the right time and the opponent doesn't, its pretty much goes down who were luckier with crates. thats still what team17 is about though, but I view this as a way of making the scheme more balanced overall.

But you can often deny your opponent from using Freeze, by paying attention to the clock and timing the end of your turn. That was something I liked. Also it provides a comeback mechanism, giving hope if you're way behind. Sure, it can do the opposite, too, but that's always been fine with me.

and I'm not sure if I understood the part about the roof of the map?

https://www.tus-wa.com/cups/game-239296/

check out this report. thats how maps should work. I dunno any other way of how to make thin roof walls :D if u follow the cup description, you just completely disable it, thus the map turns into an island and aerial weapons come into play. this is what this roofless t17 cup is mainly about. and me trying to come up with a bit more unique, and overall balanced team17 scheme

Evidently you did not understand what I was saying.

My point is, simply right-clicking that button results in a roof that is thinner than it needs to be. The roof can be 8 pixels thicker than that if you disable it by erasing 1 pixel from the roof. And I prefer it that way. Would it be acceptable to play in this cup with that kind of map?

I understand why Donkey, Armageddon, and Sheep Strike are disabled, and I guess I can concede Carpet Bomb, but why Freeze? It's fun having that one in the scheme, and there's nothing special about roofless that would change that, is there?!

Also, how much of the roof should be removed? If you click the button to toggle the roof off in modern versions of WA, it removes all 8 pixels of the roof. But that results in a pretty thin roof. The easiest way to keep that 8 pixels in the roof is to remove it by erasing 1 pixel from it instead of toggling off the roof.

I notice you set the disabled superweapons both to infinite delay and infinite ammo. You don't have to do the latter in v3.8+; the infinite delay trick works even with ammo set to zero.

13
They would be in the weapon panel and confuse, though.

Personally I miss just eq and nuclear tbh. Patsy, vase, sally, super nana, freeze and scales are stupid luck shit imo. Super weapons are rare anyway.

That was just a design flaw that is fixed in v3.8+. You no longer have to set nonzero ammo to a weapon that you are disabling by giving it infinite (negative, i.e. 128..255 reinterpreted as signed) delay. You only have to set the delay now, and it won't show up in the weapon panel.

The Sheep Launcher move I tried at 27:47 was actually pretty tricky to pull off. Here are two ways it could work (see attachments #1 and #2 – note that the retry counts are independent on these two; the first one took 5 tries starting from scratch, and the second took another 19 tries starting from what I'd already learned from #1).

There was something else I could've done, though. A Flame Thrower double kill is easier, but there's an even better way it could be done to not only kill the two worms, but open to the left (see attachment #3).

Much better situations Deadcode had in 27:12 where he could have simply hugged the max-left girder from its left side (standing on the thin layer of the snow) and use Uzi through the Snow to kill 1 Hp guy

I don't remember considering that move, but if I did, I probably discarded the idea because it seemed too risky (both in terms of a self-hit and not hitting the target). But clearly I would've been wrong to think that, because there's a 99.710% (±0.024%, taken from 50000 attempts) chance of the attack succeeding in this way (see attachment).

Quote
maybe even a HHG placed on the left of the Dangling Pointer would have killed that 1 hp.

Considered that, and discarded for obvious reasons: If it failed, which looked likely, it'd put me in a much worse position, with only 1 cannon fodder worm to protect me against losing the invasion initiative. But as it turns out, it would have killed his worm with 4 hp damage (see attachment).

But now that I think about it, even if it didn't kill his worm, it might've actually improved my position. A Girder block of the HHG crater would only barely block worms from getting through, and would allow animals through either the top of the bottom. Of course, the only animal I had was Pigeon, but he didn't know that. So maybe he would have gone further into hiding on the left side of the map and done a girder block much further to the left, giving me control of more territory, and with only 2 worms to juggle instead of 3.

EDIT: I accidentally included the wrong attachment #1. The order of the attachments is now reversed from the paragraphs above.
