Leagues General / Time Machine labels
July 16, 2009, 08:22 AM
When the number of seasons grow more and more, TUS Time Machine only shows a bunch of numbers for each season and I've noticed it's gonna be so confusing. (Seeing a lot of number that you don't know which is which)

So I added labels for each season. It looks something like this:

I started this topic to ask for the best labels of each season. We can set multiple labels for each season, So that each time the Time Machine is loaded, It will pick one of each seasons labels by random.

So if you're interested, Post the best label you think that suit an specific season.
(Notice each league has its won season)

Squads are way different than a clan or community.

A squad is a group of friends (Max 4) joining together, All of them have equal rights to edit their squad or kick people from it.

At the moment squads only work for the TNL league.

How to join a Squad
To join a squad, First you must have its joining password. Ask the squad members for it. Once you have the password,  Goto your league settings, Scroll down the page to the "TNL Squads Options".

There are 2 fields. Enter the squad acronym in the first field and its password in the second field and click on the "Join Squad" button and you are done.

How to Create a Squad
Again in the TNL Squad options, You will see the "Create Squad" part.
Pick an acronym for your squad (Max 5 characters).
You can set a full name, A flag also.
And at last pickup a join password and click on the create button.

Once the squad is created in the same page, You will see your squad edit options and people that have joined it.

Have you had a bad start? You can reset your entire stat, Yaaaaay!!!

ok. Before you get confused,
You are allowed to reset your stats:

1. Once per each season
2. In the first half of each season.
3. If the stats you want to reset is under 1000.

Otherwise you will see the reset button is disabled.

If you reset your current season stats, Your games in that season will be reset and you can keep your previous points + a new start in the current season.

When you reset your entire stats:
1. Your overall stats will be reset, Which means if someone watch your overall stats he/she will see that you have 1000 points.
2. When you report a game, The league system counts your new points and won't look at your history.
3. Your history WON'T be reset. If someone look at your stats in previous seasons he will actually see your stats in that time. Why?
If everyone could reset his stats permanently, Then we shouldn't keep any history at all.

If you reset your current season stats, You get to reset your entire stats as well anytime in that current season (If we are in the first half of that season). But if you reset your entire stats, The current season button will get disable too. In other words, The reset button for entire stats is like History reset + current season reset.

First I wanted to code some "advanced" search which gives a lot of options. I thought to make 1 field for search and include all the "advanced" things inside it.

In all of the leagues pages you can see the search field :

The search field combine all the words you type together, Tries to find all the words.
If you have doubts about your words, you can include !or in your search words, so that the system tries to find games that have at least one of your words.

For example:
MonkeyIsland WxW Roper !or

Will give you all the games containing: MonkeyIsland OR WxW OR Roper

But this one:
MonkeyIsland WxW Roper
Will give you all the games containing: MonkeyIsland AND WxW AND Roper

If you are looking for a sentence you can put it in the double quotes:
"The Ultimate Site"
will give you games containing that line. but
The Ultimate Site
Gives you games with word The AND Ultimate AND Site.

The words you enter are being searched in the :

  • Game IDs
  • Players names
  • Schemes
  • League type (Classic, TNL, Free ...)
  • Game type (1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3)
  • Game style (Single, Clanner, Country, Squad)
  • The uploaded replay name
  • In-game chat  (You must include !chat in your keyword, otherwise the search won't look into game chats)
That's all. nothing hard ;)

Just some examples how to search :

1. Are you looking for a game you know its ID? then its the easiest search :
e.g.  Type  "4365"  (without the quotes)

2. Looking for games for specific players?
e.g.  Type  "pr f4st"  (without the quotes)

3. Looking for games for specific players and specific scheme?
e.g.  Type  "pr f4st ttrr"  (without the quotes)

4. Looking for games for specific players and specific scheme and specific game style?
e.g.  Type  "pr chelsea ttrr clanner"  (without the quotes)

5. Looking for games for specific players and specific game type?
e.g.  Type  "pr chelsea 2vs2"  (without the quotes)

6. Looking for games for specific clans?
e.g.  Type  "pp clanner"  (without the quotes)

You can combine as many words as you want and the order doesn't matter.

An example of game replay search:
I searched for "pr", in the last page :
https://www.tus-wa.com/leagues/search/pr-16/

There's a game (last one when I'm writing this),  KeKkO vs Artharas.
If you download the replay you will see that pr was watching their game. ;)

Leagues General / Intermediate on Test
March 10, 2009, 10:17 AM
The situation to me looks like this :

1. When I put the poll there, it was 10, 7 in favour of Intermediate. Now it is 34 to 26 in favour of Intermediate. But the point is some people do not enter TUS because it has Intermediate. So they won't poll minus for Intermediate. I can say 34 is the true poll for Intermediate, But 25 is not.

2. In this season out of 150 games there were only 17 Intermediate games so far.

3. Free league has  few games in it. I'm thinking if we move Intermediate to the free league, Would it give more activity to the free league? If so, Intermediate players can have their own playoffs in the free league since Intermediate would be the most scheme being played there.

4. Intermediate was in 3 seasons on TUS. I'd like to test to see how things change with it being in the free league.

I'll be moving it to the free league. in 1 or 2 days. and probably will add 10 more days to this season and We'll try it for season 4 and 5.  If there were no big changes we'll move back.

Those 4 are main reasons.
This thread is for the people who still thinks we shouldn't move intermediate AND have some better reasons than those 4.

Here's the idea.

TUS give points like leagues to cup games. Having that the tie problem in groups might be solved easily. If 2 members have done same in their group, The one with the lower rank will proceed.

If so, Maybe we can mix members league points with their cups points (probably their tourney points too in the future).

Pros and cons? shoot! ^^

Cups and Tournaments General / Finishing cups
February 06, 2009, 07:49 AM
Seems that cups are getting out of control. and look crappy to me -.-

I'll stop any coding process on TUS, And I'll finish Cups v1.0 in the few incoming days.

To make it short,

Everybody on TUS have a "scheme Inbox". He/she can save as many schemes as he wants in this inbox. You can modify your schemes online anytime, and If you want you can make that scheme "go public" so that others can see or download it too, otherwise they are your private schemes.
the TUS scheme editor/Maker will do the changes to your scheme file too. So there's no need to run W:A or any other program. the only thing you have to do is editing it online, TUS will do the rest.

To make it long ^^
I'll do it step by step:

1. Go to TUS scheme editor/Maker. It is a place which you can save your schemes. Its link is on the main navigation menu under schemes. There's also a link in your user panel called "Submit a scheme" :

Enter your scheme name in the first field.
ok, Now you have 3 options.

1. Select a scheme file from your hard drive, after selecting, hit "Load".
2. Enter a scheme ID that is already on TUS, In case you wanna do some changes in it, then hit on "Load".
3. Leave these field alone. System by default will load the game Intermediate scheme.

I want to upload a Bungee Scheme, I select it and I hit "Load" :

System will load your scheme, gameoptions and weapons.
If I want, I can do a little change to it, before saving it to my Inbox. In game options part, The explanation on how to change their value will be written on the information box when you put your mouse on it. In the weapons options, All boxes acts the same.

For example I want to make my Teleport infinite, I click on the weapons options bar, after it got open :

I can click on the weapon image (or the bottom of the ammo image) to increase its value like the game, so after 9, it will give you infinite ammo.
By right clicking on this box, the value decreases. (Sorry opera users, they can't use right click ^^, Opera believes that right click in your browser is so important that no one must mess around with it ;) )

OR you can simply type the amount you'd like on the top of the image. That is an input field there. (not just a text).

Done editing your scheme? You can click on "Save this scheme to my inbox". It will save your scheme file to your inbox, and it will redirect you to your scheme inbox :

This is showing the list of schemes that you have saved to your account. The Book (bible ;D)  image is your file, you can click on it to download.

On the right, You have 2 links : Edit and Delete.
Delete is clear enough.

On the edit page,
You will have your scheme full control in case you wanted to make that scheme public.
You can set :
Scheme name,
Scheme full name,
Scheme type, being Battle, Race or ...
Scheme image, You can set an image for it. As scheme symbol?
Scheme examples : Up to 3 replays on how to play your scheme.
Scheme full explanation.
and editing your scheme file.

and at the end You have this button to make your scheme public :

By clicking it, Your scheme will be viewed in the TUS schemes lists. Note that once it is set to be viewed on public, You can't delete this scheme anymore. But you will have access to all kind of modifing it.

Do you want to have a board in TUS forum?

If you want a board for you clan or community, Or if you have any specific idea, post here. :)
#252
These are 5 other possibilities of our league.
Please take a look and poll which must be applied.
Please post after your poll, that if the system must be changed in this season, OR the changes must go for the next season.

before you go on, the last stats which is by the formula, is not sharp. but close to reality. notice "face" was 9th in stats and he is 17th in the last. it refers to, he claimed he gained lot of points cause he was new in the second season.

STATS BY CURRENT SYSTEM

40 AND -30 POINTS AS BASE POINTS

40 AND -40 POINTS AS BASE POINTS

40 AND -30 POINTS AS BASE POINTS AND LOWER POINTS FOR BEATING LOWER RANKED (DOUBLE AMOUNT OF WHAT IT IS NOW)

40 AND -40 POINTS AS BASE POINTS AND LOWER POINTS FOR BEATING LOWER RANKED (DOUBLE AMOUNT OF WHAT IT IS NOW)

40 AND -40 POINTS AS BASE POINTS , LOWER POINTS FOR BEATIN LOWER RANKED, KEEPING YOUR OWN RANK FROM PREVIOUS SEASONS BASED ON SOME FORMULA

On this post I will be showing the accepted ideas for the tourneys.

Unique's post needs more reviewing, So the accepted parts on that will be here later.

1. Verifying code.
In your tourneys settings page, You will be asked for a 5 digit code that you can change it anytime. Since TUS already knows your nick, clan, country or any other information, You can tell the tourney mods this code. By entering this code to the system, TUS will register you in that tourney. It is for preventing faking your nick.  MODS are trusted in TUS, But you can change this code after each tourney you play.

2. Replay uploads
After EACH game you won, you can tell the mod that you won it, and mod enter that in TUS system. This will open up a field for you, which you must upload the game replay. Since most of the time after you win a game you have to wait for the next round, You can use this time for uploading your game replays.
As it is right after the game, So almost no replay gets lost in time. However mods will be able to force a game to win without uploading the replay in some cases, but that player will receive minus points.

3. The tourney page
The tourney page will announce current status for that tourney.
For example, If tourney hasn't started yet, If you view that tourney page, you will see how much you have to wait for the tourney to start.
If you view the page after registration are opened, You will see the people already registered in that tourney, So that you won't bother the mod asking him : List of players please...  or ask him 3 times "Am I in? Am I in ?"  (So that Dario won't yell at you ;) jk )
If you view it after signups are closed, you will see the pairing.
If you view it in tourney round 2, you will see the results for the round one.
If you view it after the tourney, You will see the tourney and how the tourney went.

4. MODs rating
After a tourney is finished, You can rate how the mod acted in that tourney.
There must be some element for "Trusted mods".

* This page will get updated each time.

Why does the system still calculate new points with the old score, if there was a reset?

*System calculates your rank by all the games you have done no matter in what season*

- To make people play with their nearest rank.

Imagine some player reached the rank elite.  It means that he is great player in that scheme, right?
Now he plays in the next season. He starts off at 1000 pts. But should the system count him as absolute beginner too?

If so, Then he can play with noobs and gain enough points. Since he is elite in that scheme, he can beat lots of noobs, and go up easy ...
But if the system count him as an elite player, he better play with higher ranked players to gain enough points, than noob bashing.

It is not a total solution for noob bashing, But still it decreases some.

TUS Discussion / Next Part on TUS, Map database?
January 03, 2009, 08:00 AM
I'm thinking about having a map database on TUS, before I start coding the Tourneys part.

Why? There are a few map database sites already!

Reasons :   :D

  • I have promised Big Billy before I start coding TUS about making a map database :D
  • Connecting Leagues, Tourneys and Cups to Map database :

I've been checking replays. I see most of the time, the host takes advantage of hosting "His Maps".
For example, In the WfW if you know the map well and your opponent is not familiar with the map, I say he is dead already before the game starts. I gotta say almost in EVERY scheme there's this advantage that the host can take. It is not his fault. Someone must host!

So I'm saying TUS can pick up a map by random for the players.
For this, The system must have :

    1. Rated by being standard maps :
People can vote for the maps if they are standard to be play for a serious game.

    2. Rated by difficulty maps:
Is a map easy, normal or hard?  System can pick a map for them in the normal categorized maps. e.g a normal wxw map.

Another advantage I guess we would have by this is :
When picking maps, 1st player goes to some page maybe "Map picker".  He request a map, then his opponent must go to that page and confirm, and then system will give them a map.
So if someone is faking somebody else's name, he can't come to site and confirm his map.

Leagues General / Prize on the leagues
January 03, 2009, 07:35 AM
Actually this is not new idea.
People who know a bit of the history of TUS, would smile and say "Finally!"
(Yea yea I will write a history about TUS)

New year started, and TUS showed its potential though there were so many negative advertising about it.
I'd like to lift TUS up to the next level.

*10 dollars as a prize for the winner of season #2 classic league singles*

You don't need any new registration or any payment. As stated, It is only a prize to win, So nothing to lose.

I don't want to make any big deal out of it. So please do not shout on roofs about it.
On the other side, we will be collecting stats for this prize about :

  • How many more complaints we receive?
  • How much (more) sucky attitudes, insulting ...
  • How much people will act crazy, So how many people we have to ban?
  • Can we handle it, So that does it worth it?
  • Will there be any games for the free league?
However,
If people can't hold themselves together and start to act crazy
OR
If the poll says "no" :
it will get canceled. (TUS is still a site made by people)

p.s I still hear people complain about the points system. I will be finalizing leagues in the next week. If it really bothers you, put your opinion in leagues ideas.
#257
There's a Time Machine select box at the top of most league pages :

Select the season you want, and click on the "Set, GO!". It changes the leagues time to that season in all pages. For example If you set the time machine to season #1 in recent games page, The stats page will show you the season #1 result too, so does every other page.

There's another option called "Show me the overall stats". This will show you ALL the seasons together, Without any time limitation. For example if you want to see players stats by every single game they've played, not only by 1 season, OR you want to see a player rank in TUS, Set the Time Machine to this option.

I guess this is be the easiest way to find something in previous leagues or maybe to compare same page in different leagues.

Leagues General / Rates level changed
December 27, 2008, 08:50 PM
Today rates level changed.

As some people asked about it, I changed it to each 60 pts 1 level. So that the difference between people becomes more so more points can be gained/lost in games.

We'll see how it effects the results. I guess it will decrease noob bashing.

(It may change back to what it was before.)

Leagues General / Leagues Rules
December 27, 2008, 07:41 PM
1) General Rules, Behavior

  • Spamming is disallowed in the games and also on our site. You may not fluster your opponent by writing pointless materials constantly.
  • Insulting other players, people is always disallowed in games and also on our site.
  • As there might be some players under the age of 18, no sexual content may be uploaded or shown on the site.
  • No racial or any other discrimination is allowed on our site or in the games. Any behavious like that will be highly penalized.
  • Cheating by any program is highly forbidden. Anyone caught on cheating may be banned for the whole season (at the moderators discretion).
  • Noone may use alias and ask for league games under alias or claim one's Cup or Tourney game under alias. Getting caught with aliasing results banning (at the moderators discretion).
  • Registering double accounts is forbidden, results banning.
  • No graves or teamnames may be used that might confuse the opponent.
  • You can play the same opponent 15 times in the same season in the same league. Report page will give you an error if you try to report more games.
  • The schemes have their own set of rules, which can be found in the description of the official league schemes. They can be found here: https://www.tus-wa.com/schemes/?leagues
  • You must use the official schemes found on the schemes page. If you host and use the incorrect scheme without telling them, your opponent has the right to replay the game with the correct scheme.
  • In the second half of each season, players are allowed to play matches for a single clan only. Their victories as part of any other clans will be void (at the moderators' discretion).
2) Lag-outs

  • If one player lags out and returns to the given channel, the game should be continued with handicap or restarted.
  • If a game is lagging, do not quit. Quitting means you surrender. If a game lags out, let it lag out.
  • If a player lags out and is not seen online 10 minutes later, then the game is taken care of by the following rules:

  • If it was the first game, then the game should not be reported, rather played at another time.

  • If it was the second game and the loser of the first game was seemingly losing the second game too, it can be reported. At any other occasion the moderators will decide about the outcome of the game, after it is posted to the forum's League Complaints section.

  • Moderators will never decide about the outcome of a game considering the skills of the players. Always the state of the game is what the moderators consider.
3) Quitting

  • Quitting a game before it ends means you forfeit the game. There is only one exception to the rule: if your opponent chose the wrong scheme without informing you. Before you quit, you must point out the scheme is incorrect and that you want to replay the game with the correct scheme.
  • If a player returns to the channel but does not want to continue the game, then the quitting player's opponent automatically wins.
  • Only acceptable way of quitting is if the quitting is reasonable and the quitting player agrees with his/her opponent on playing the game another time.
  • Mostly the moderators will consider the state of the game, the way of the quitting, how the conversation went on and also the number of the game (first or second) and then decide about the outcome of the game(s).
  • Lag-outs and Quittings that could not be solved between the two players must be posted to League Complaints.
  • Intentional Lag-outs, quittings or surrendering in 2vs2 or 3vs3 games (both singles and clanners), in a way that benefits the quitting team are not allowed. In such cases, under the moderators discretion the game will be rematched or a win will be given to the opposite team.

4) Proceeding

  • First, you need to find a partner. Then you decide which kind of league you want to play: Classic or Free. Both of you have to pick one scheme and play those two games. The higher season rating must pick first.
  • Before the first game start, both of you have to tell what your username on the site is. Missing to do this might have your games infirmed.
  • Both players/clans need to agree on the map. If you light up, you agree on the map. Using auto-light up is strictly forbidden. If the opponent picks a non-default sized map without informing you, you can still request a normal sized map at the start of the game and interrupt the game. If the scheme has manual worm placement, you must make the request before the first turn of the game. If the scheme has random worm placement, you must make the request before the second turn of the game.
  • After you finished the games, and the games result is 1-1, you can agree on playing a third game.
  • EVERY GAME MUST BE REPORTED! This means DoN (Double or Nothing) games are highly forbidden!
5) Reporting

  • Winner of a game reports his own game. Losers do not need to confirm anything.
  • The game must be reported within 6 hours after the game was played. Otherwise mods decide to keep the game and correct its order or delete it.
  • Loading up a fake replay is obviously forbidden. Getting caught with this results in banning.
  • Avoiding a player/clan is not allowed. Avoiding is when you look for TUS but refuse to play against a specific opponent and keep looking.
  • If a player is looking for TUS but avoids you, you can post the logs or screenshots to leagues complaint forum and ask for permission to report a free win. If mods agree, you can report a free win and the opponent has one week to play the game. Players must arrange the game in the game/complaint thread.
  • If you want to play only specific schemes, you must make this clear when looking for TUS. For example: "TUS BnG anyone?" or "TUS no Elite anyone?". Openly searching "TUS anyone?" but then refusing to play a specific scheme is considered avoiding. After you have found out the opponent's scheme pick, you must play the game.
  • If a player agrees to play TUS with you and then disappears before asking your scheme pick, you CANNOT report free win.
  • If a player plays your pick, but then disappears at his pick, you CANNOT report free win.
  • If a player plays his pick but then disappears at your pick, you CAN report free win. But even that free win must be played when that player comes back.

6) Playoffs

  • Playoffs are played between the first eight players of the leagues' total stats, and only those get in who played the required minimum games. Playoffs are basically a smaller tourney and the site generates the pairs automatically.
  • You must play at least 80 games in the season to get in to the Playoffs for classic league. (70 games for clans), 50/20 for TEL and TRL and 30/5 for Free league.
  • In the playoffs, clans are only allowed to use players who were members of the clan at the end of the corresponding season, and who didn't play for any other clans in the second half of this season. Using players who left the clan after the season ended is allowed.
  • Each round of the playoffs stand of 5 different picks. The players pick schemes by turns and the higher ranked player has the advantage of picking first.
  • Deadlines are usually posted on the forums by the moderators, based on activity at the moderators discretion.
  • Any player or clan who fails to finish their playoff games and is kicked out will be disqualified from the next playoffs of that league. After that, they are free to qualify again.

Leagues General / What is Analyzer?
December 22, 2008, 01:21 PM
Leagues Analyzer is originally suggested by pr.

It will analyze your future games, So that you will know what scheme you should pick to gain the most possible points from your opponent, OR maybe lose ? XD

It is very similar to the report page, just choose your opponent and the way your game will be and click on the analyze button.

It will give you all the information about the schemes  :

The yellow numbers are the points being gained or lost.
The left number next to a yellow number is the points before that game (Current points).
the right number is the final points after the game.
