General discussion / Re: WA is on life support

I think he's really the only one I'll rope with or that is online and actually engages in conversation when you're playing... most don't...

Maybe you and skunk simply don't relate to people you refer to as "most don't", and they purposely remain quiet because you don't say anything that's interesting or engaging to them? We're not all compatible with each other, especially with differences in age and culture.

It's like this story I heard Terry Crews talk about being a parent, as a very athletic and strong male type, who was into sports and stuff stuff, he struggled to connect and bond with his son, his son who is very nerdy and interested in technology and stuff, and he realized they were drifting apart, he was trying to encourage his son to take up his hobbies and his interests and his son wasn't interested.

Then it all changed for him when he realized that wasn't working, and to form a more meaningful bond with his son he should focus on trying to take an interest in his songs hobbies, now Terry Crews and his son do live streams on Twitch together, he's a major PC enthusiast now.

Maybe, this game and the community just don't relate to you anymore and you are beating yourselves up over it instead of either moving on, or embracing the changes.

I guess you misread what I said or I f@#!ed up how i pronounced it lol. I meant he's really the only one I'll rope with because nobody is online. at least on my time zone. he's also one of the OGs that still ropes this game. I've left snooper open for days.. in #ropersheaven and #ag... nobody hosts roper games (anything rope related) or BnG for the most part... i don't see any increase in community size, it just stays where its at which is cool. the games playable not saying it isn't... and i'm someone who loves change btw, so.. if the game is changing, cool. lol. i'm not even complaining, i love roping when i get the time too or if people are around even if i don't know who they are, it's fun. or i'll just do some offline games by myself, who cares? lol

Technically the game will never die because you can just rope around by yourself if you're bored... in terms of finding someone "on par" with your skill and roping... that can be hard... or when you host games and people quit on you, that can suck. It's just like Counter-Strike 1.6, that games been dead for a long time and people still play it... or they play 5v5 pick up games, yea it takes a long time to get 10 people into the server maybe but it happens... worms is an easier game to play by yourself then a first person shooter multiplayer game. It's definitely not what it once was... but I enjoy the games I play from time to time with skunk, I think he's really the only one I'll rope with or that is online and actually engages in conversation when you're playing... most don't... i get it most don't understand english either... it's hard with the timezones of the community, which is what makes the game itself awesome, the community of people from all over the world. Idk, it's all how you view it... but when you've played something from the start, it's never going to be the same. Shit, I remember when WormNET had ranks up and everything when you logged on... Ropers Heaven just packed with ropers... like roping was the meta during a time in worms, it was sick. I'm just glad to still be tappin' my spacebar and roping around. it's pretty sick on 1440p 165hz lol, you go to think that you used to play any scheme really on like 1024x768 max on a monitor that weighed more then yourself :D

I don't like ZaR roper personally but that isn't because the scheme is bad per se, but rather I also think that old school roper is boring these days. I loved it for many years and played more games of it than I could possibly recall, but as I continued along my wormy path I came to realize that I simply prefer other roping schemes. IMO, WxW on a challenging map and hp crates instead of weapon crates is more fun - even if it's zooks only. (Although I'm unhappy without drills!) Roper is fine and all but the crate luck and wind luck is completely bogus sometimes. These days I primarily play Big RR because there's no luck involved whatsoever. I don't mind playing Big RR with no chutes either, but adding a weapon(s) in RR? No. Absolutely not.

facts. Big RR/WxW are the most challenging/fun rope schemes... i'd say TTRR as well on a somewhat difficult map... i always struggled to keep steady arrow control on a tight TTRR map. ropers are fun but they are cr8 luck based big time for the most part, but being able to pull off runs with a hard cr8 or bad wind is pro asf.... they are still OG though just like BnG. any rope scheme i enjoy tbh unless it's a "shoppa" lol. i'm with skunk on that one, i'm not a fan of ZaR roper myself and i'm not putting down the scheme either, just don't dig it. i sure do miss the days of when hashtag Ropers Heaven was packed with wormers, not Anything Goes. oh wellz...

Have you been around since like 2003+?

I have a lot of respect for Psydome and he was king of the pre-LG era, but he never reached the level of BnG variety that players got after his era, as we started using Low Gravity and more shot/map variety he never used. As for creating almost all of the trick shots, I believe that's far from true. Plus, he pretty much stopped playing around 2003-2004 because I only played him once after that era and he was god awful, if it was even him, probably an impersonator though.

Either that or he changed his name or something, and yes i'm talking about the guy with blue hair that used to write HONK HONK VROOOOOOOOOOOM all the time.

Special shout out to the GIT clan, THEY invented most of the BnG trick shots I ever seen.

nice k740 bruh cheers m8? cya on twitch come see me stream soon bud kthxbbqsauce BnG streamin and dreamin. and yes i have been around since 2003+ i am theChipmunk don't you remember me komito? lol

I don't mind innovating when it comes to gaming, but to keep that innovation locked away behind proprietary consoles really sucks, especially when the consoles are lacking in power compared to other offerings, and also when a lot of the 'innovations' aren't really that great. I'd much rather be able to buy Nintendo titles on Playstation (my preferred platform) and purchase accessories if necessary. A lot of the innovations that Nintendo have implemented are gimmicky and not very good in general, and I say that having owned most of them at one point or another.

I don't necessarily want an 'adult gaming experience' from my console/games - I just want quality games that are fun to play and have a good replay value. Nintendo's games are great... I just hate their consoles. The Switch is a total piece of shit, hardware-wise. The joycons in particular are so fragile and prone to breakage that you might as well buy a replacement pair the moment you buy a Switch. It also just feels awkward as hell playing a Switch. It's not ergonomic at all, everything feels tiny (at least for adult hands) and the screen quality isn't very good. The Wii U was a joke. The original Wii was interesting when it first came out but for me the novelty factor wore off quickly. It was pretty fun for casual 4 player local gameplay, like if you are hanging out and drinking with friends or whatever... but for more serious gaming? Nah. The Gamecube had some decent games on it but for idiotic reasons Nintendo decided to not go with a standard DVD format and chose these tiny discs and weird controllers instead. The last decent console Nintendo made IMO was the N64, but even by then their main competitors had adopted CD-ROM as their format, which meant much better audio quality and more storage space for textures and whatnot. N64 was cool when it first came out but it has not aged as well as, say, the PS1 IMO. (PS1 also has vastly more good titles available for it.)

All that isn't even getting into the true handhelds and the gimmicks wrapped up therein. I have a soft spot in my heart for Nintendo but in recent years I've learned more and more about how they suck as a company (there's so many YouTube videos on this) and that combined with the gimmicks and games that never go on sale is enough to keep me away. Nintendo's online gaming service is also absolute garbage compared to Sony or Microsoft. Right now the best value in gaming is a used PS4, hands down.

agreed. putting a solid state drive in my PS4 Pro was prob one of the best things i've done lol... i paid out my ass for an Xbox Series X in December... and i won't do that again for a PS5, i'll wait for it to restock at retail price.... will most likely be buying the digital edition too for $100 cheaper. Nintendo was good back in the day man... if anything... you can't hate on the N64. Goldeneye, Mario Party, Mario Kart etc etc etc. Even the SNES and regular Nintendo were the shit. but as the generations progressed, they got worse. totally agree. Sony/Microsoft takes the W. good game.
