Well, I'm just talking about my experience, maybe it's connected to the fact that someone uses a pirated version from a torrent, there can be anything there, that's what I'm talking about

Maybe so, but it seems to me that in the future, when creating new resources for the game, you should take into account that they may be missing not only for me (not everyone has the Steam version), for example, the previous version that I used came without these files right out of the box, although I unfortunately do not remember the publisher, now I have the GoG version.

Yes, and I think I read somewhere on old forums that this also exists for display on old pot-bellied monitors, but I can't judge how true this is)
And I always thought that it is included in the game settings menu, where there is a small window with colored stripes, with the name "change color scheme" As in the screenshot below

Yes, you are right, the clouds are discolored, but everything else works well, so for me, for example, it is not critical because I usually turn on maximum falling debris in the background during the game)

I did some quick testing of front.spr a while ago. The main consideration is it obscures the view of the water and I think the parallax movement could do with some tweaking to move quicker than the terrain layer when scrolling.  It would be cool to see in a terrain though.  That layer can be animated as well.

Ahh ok, I've always been confused about why gfx, gfx0 and gfx1 all exist.  gfx0 and gfx1 take priority if they exist by the looks of it.

Yeah the wkTerrainSync sprite replacement feature is great because all players get to see the new sprites without any manual replacement. I've noticed that if you delete gfx0 and gfx1, it messes up this feature (it causes weird palette issues likely because gfx.dir uses a different palette) so you're probably best restoring those two files.  If you try the Retro Hell terrain and look at the replaced clouds, you'll see what I mean : https://www.tus-wa.com/files/file-3000/

There was no problem with you creating a new palette for your gfx.dir replacement file, it worked perfectly.  And great job with the WoG terrain!
