Title: Challenge #201, TCB 69: Brainblooped Episode 1
Post by: DarkOne on February 18, 2013, 07:02 PM
I'm setting a bigger deadline here, because this is a pretty difficult challenge (difficulty level 8 according to the old TCB description).

I recounted my run, it turns out that my total turn time was exactly 52.00 at the point my worm touched the finish platform. Can you fix my score while approving the replay, D1?

I'm away for a couple of days, but I'll check all replays once I get back :)

Windows 8 has been a pain to me unfortunately, which is why I haven't done so yet: for some reason, I can't exports logs etc anymore

Is finishing counted as the moment you touch any part of the FINISH island, or only when you touch the parallelogram part of it?

I think the intention was that only the parallelogram is the finish, and the bits sticking out were just to facilitate a smooth journey to Notdrowningsville.

According to what D1 told me, the whole platform counts as a finish:

hello, before i try to improve my record in the brainblooped challenge, i'd like to ask if it's at all allowed to stack worms one on another during placement?
barman: [2013-02-22, 18:51:38]
or do they all have to lie flat on the start platform?
barman: [2013-02-22, 18:52:13]
in statik's replay of the assault course challenge, he stacked his worms... so i guess it's allowed

also, what counts as a finish? all that blue platform on the right?
DarkOne: [2013-02-22, 23:58:41]
yes, you can stack and yes, the entire finish platform :)

I think the intention was that only the parallelogram is the finish, and the bits sticking out were just to facilitate a smooth journey to Notdrowningsville.

If someone lands on the bits sticking out on the left and walks to the finish, I can't accurately state the time in every replay, so I'm counting the whole thing.

Here's my annotated tool-assisted replay.
2013-02-26 12.27.50 {TA} 2013-02-26 09.16.42 [TCB Challenge 69 - 20.74 sec] 0xDEADC0DE {annotated 2013-05-22 23.24.24}.WAgame (http://kingbird.myphotos.cc/2013-02-26%2012.27.50%20%7BTA%7D%202013-02-26%2009.16.42%20%5BTCB%20Challenge%2069%20-%2020.74%20sec%5D%200xDEADC0DE%20%7Bannotated%202013-05-22%2023.24.24%7D.WAgame)

There's lots of annotations, so I recommend, after watching it normally (i.e., just watching it at normal speed, with the chat closed), going back and pausing playback to read the annotations one "paragraph" at a time.

Oh nice one, especially liked the idea of a falling worm at the beginning.

I kinda like my replay too, it required a bunch of quickly executed moves and skipped the 2nd platform entirely, sadly it was waaay slower.
I wonder which one of those was the intended solution by bloopy.
