Title: Challenge #810, Mission #10 Endgame
Post by: kirill470 on January 13, 2023, 05:19 PM
The final mission of the main story! I hope you enjoy this unusual mission. My record of 310sec is a workaround, but it is long, I added it as one of the options for passing

Yeah I'm surprised by how optimized this can get, I keep feeling like I can shave off one more second

That 66.92 looks perfect, but please don't cut off the replay sooner that that. That landing was looking majestic!

I have idea. Instead of playing nonsense missions/challenges, maybe it is the time to  walk from the shadow and show ur face in AG? maybe instead of waste 100 hours to beat the records, maybe better to spend 10-20 minutes to play tusk game or clanner?  JUST AN IDEA...

Mablak should definitely join Mole clan yes.

We will play in 100 min from now Kins, I must go for a kebab.

The main principle is to have fun. For some players playing challenges is more fun than playing competitive leagues/cups games. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Very nice challenge, Kirill! This is one of my favorites that you made. Very creative idea to play like Driver, but with destructible terrain. The map is also very beautiful.

I was trying a different path than Mablak that I thought could save some time (using mole to dig a lot on a bulky part of the map). Even when I had the best moments of my path my time was absurdly far away from Mablak. So I realized why Mablak chose that path and played that specific way, it makes a lot of sense now. The mole is not very useful, because the time is running while the mole is digging, and you can't really use another weapon until the mole explodes. So, I realized that Drill is more efficient, because it pauses the timer. And not only drill... Shotgun pauses the timer, launching weapons from ground with max possible force saves time, that's why Mablak was firing so many weapons from ground, and not only that, using fire punch to save even more time while waiting HHG and grenade explosions. That's why he ends the game using pneumatic drill. This explains the abyssal difference of time records.

I will not upload my attempts yet, but I will try more times later now that I got the secret of this challenge. I think it's possible to beat Mablak's time, but it will be very, very hard. He could have saved time using more Zooks, and there was a drill that he didn't use.

Yeah Fox, there's a lot to figure out with this challenge and most of it hinges on those turn delaying weapons

I've gotten a lot closer to the perfect method, but can't even say I'm fully there

Thanks, maybe it was worth disabling the "stopping time when shooting" function in this scheme, then you can equally use both drill and mole, because time will not stop. It would be more logical, but let it stay that way. Maybe in the next map and scheme I will do it

Alright, I think I might actually be maxed out now, sub 50

Insane, Mablak. I tried many possibilities, but then I just decided to follow your method, but with many mistakes. I'm tired of trying.

EDIT: if the time counted were the real time passed, and not the turn time counter, the methods would probably be very different. If rope knocking was on too.

Absolutely phenomenal work Mablak. This 48.98 sec is such a wonderful homage paid to the last mission of the most memorable series of TUS challenges I have ever seen, all made by Kirill.

Thank you for the great show Mablak & Kirill.

Thanks and yeah Kirill, these missions are all great, really high ceiling for what's possible on them. I would totally make a category for them on speedrun.com, if only there was some way to naturally include them

If this mission was measured by real time then yeah, the best method would be 100% different

It's been designed this way ever since "Escape the prison" first challenge, where I got my 81.98 sec time. I would also shoot shotgun multiple times over there while waiting for Holy granade to explode. Freezing the time has got its charm because it allows for some creativity.

Damn, that Pneumatic drill right after the series of Green & Holy granades rocked. What a lucky landing!

Challenge completed! Congratulations 3rd place FoxHound, 2nd place Danger135, and 1st place Mablak! Despite the fact that this is the end of the story company with the general, the missions will continue. Next 11 mission coming soon...
And, accordingly, the new series of the series
