Title: Challenge #865, SiMpleTonTRiCkCiTy
Post by: Triad on February 24, 2024, 10:04 AM
A new Trick Race challenge after a long time! I have submitted a slow run as a reference, you can refer to it if you have any questions about a particular trick.

MAKE SURE YOU READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU START YOUR RUN!

Also, please let me know if something is not clear enough in the description.

Good luck, and have fun!

Is any difference between MEXI and ARCH? I do not see any.

They are pretty much the same, yeah. Mexi is just arch on a bigger area.

Mexi is basically more horizontal, and arch is vertical in execution

Thanks for this challenge, nice map! These pinball, mexi and double dragon knocked me out of tempo :D

Arch performs over pillar, mexi - over another obstacle.

Arch performs over pillar, mexi - over another obstacle.

This is the correct answer.

It's like, arch over vertical lines in Big RR.

Mexi over for example, an entire island in a Roper.

Glad you're enjoying it. :) Yeah, those tricks are hard. I think this map's great way to practiise them. :D

There is a sad story about last 2 tricks that got me mad...  :D I have come when timer was 590 and spent 14 minutes for last 2 tricks lol what a shame.

Oof very bad luck, but also, your Shadow was invalid 💀

Check this image:
[attachment=1]

As you can see in the frame-by-frame analysis, your rope is not attached to the cyan part of the crane, but to the part highlighted in red (as you can see in the crane image in the middle).

Pay more attention to your Shadows in your future runs!

Maybe I will try too, but it will be 10 hours replay.  ;D I'm usually ragequitting after an hour, so no way.

Ow, you're very observant :D I didn't notice this mistake during the run.

thanks. the end lines are tricky (good luck policing them) but interesting concept for a map over all. We played the map yesterday with Billy and i wasn't doing so well and today i just turned on the game and immediately made that run without any restarts.

Good job, flashR! You finally beat my run. :D

By the way, for pinball x5, only 5 bounce is enough, you don't have to do 10.

Thanks! I knew it, but as I could see, everyone did 10 and I thought that probably I understood something wrong and should do 10 too :D

I have to confess that map is really interesting, all the tricks are quite difficult and any trick potentially can ruin your run.

Wish people knew their rope history lol, that move was already coined years ago by FaTaL, the guy who was doing it in 1999 before anyone else! At least on purpose and made it look stylish.

Then we should start saying "flying saucers" instead of frisbees, "clasp lockers" instead of zippers, "inclined elevators" instead of escalators, "epsicles" instead of popsicles or ice pops, right? Since they were initially called by these names.

No.

Languages are constantly evolving living beings.

Nah that's not it Triad.

It's in my opinion, an ignorant small community who tried to take over roping and made up ridiculous names ignoring all the legends that came before them.

I wouldn't have a problem if they were the first to coin them, they made trick race overcomplex and ridiculous to look cool.

Maybe I'm an old fart for thinking this, but yeah, as far as I'm concerned I'll never use those names and stick to the originals thanks.

 :P

(There are some things I'll admit I'll stupidly stubborn about lol)

I refuse to play Worms Armageddon, because in my opinion the game name should be Total Wormage and not Worms.

Nah, way too many mistakes. I'm sure Masta or Shtaket can finish this in ~150 seconds without breaking a sweat. I'll continue playing however and hopefully get sub 200.
Title: Re: Challenge #865, SiMpleTonTRiCkCiTy
Post by: Triad on February 27, 2024, 07:25 PM
Impressive, you did get a sub 200 (which is also a sub 180 sec / 3 min) run. Nice job!

Judging by how much time mistakes cost you in this run, I think even a 120 sec run is attainable if you don't make any mistakes, but that's a difficult task, of course.

Hope other experienced ropers will also submit some great runs.

Thanks, finally a good run. Would love to get a 120 but not sure if it's possible for me. Certain tricks are very hard to do consistently.

Sir-J.

DO this entire community a favour and start streaming your challenge runs! I would support the f out of that!

You're the only person I've ever considered to be as good as Mablak at roping challenges.

Popularity increases via word of mouth, the more people doing it and having fun doing it, the more appealing it is to other people!

I may do that but it will require some preparation. Either way, that won't happen until I receive my rapid trigger keyboard, which should arrive within a month.

I need the opinion of fellow tricksters.

In flashR's 513.98s run (http://ttps://www.tus-wa.com/challenges/download/replay-9903-1/), while he was doing outlaws to swoosh (around 125-sec mark), does his last movement before swoosh count as an outlaw, or is it an inlaw since it was done on a horizontal surface?
Title: Re: Challenge #865, SiMpleTonTRiCkCiTy
Post by: XanKriegor on February 29, 2024, 03:27 PM
Not an expert, but colored surfaces are for the rope, a worm can touch any surface, and i guess the trick sequence in question just happened to be in a little wrong part of the map. If the run was a medal contender, it would be worth investigation.
Also, tried to google Inlaw and Outlaw GIF demos - failed.

i didnt watch, but i believe the rope direction dictates whether it is inlaw or outlaw.  towards surface bounced off = inlaw.  away from surface bounced off = outlaw. this is the limit to my expertise, i tried this map but quit when i ran into 2 tricks i didnt know what they were.  animated areas would be amazing on maps like this to illustrate tricks.

Yeah, no issues with colored areas, I just wondered because the way the bounce happened.

This is actually a perfect distinction. It's true, even the rope direction is different after an inlaw and an outlaw. Thanks!

Sir-J's replay is great if you wanna check any tricks, it's almost a perfect run.

Never mind, flashR's later arch was clearly not touching the colored area, so his run is unfortunately invalid. Man can't catch a break. ;D
