An intentional feature [I personally don't believe this isn't just another bug] added by Team17 prevents fall damage from being applied the first time the worm hits the ground after being hit with an explosion. [...] If you're looking to maximise the damage done with an explosive weapon by having it throw the enemy worm high into the air, you should aim to try and have the worm bounce off of a wall on his way up so that he receives fall damage on the way down.

Have watched the replay, yes, its regular stuff, after explosion, a worm have to hit a side of a pixel so fall damage could be appliacable to it.
-
yah but if it was only fall damage, that height should be like 5, not 15
but I think it's speed dmg here =P
-
What Husk said. I expected max 50 dmg.
-
I've done 90hp dmg SS without FD, just speed damage.
-
wtf @ people talking of fd and "speed damage" like these are different things

It's obvious there's a difference with regular fd and speed related fd.
So, why it would be wrong to separate those 2?

Did you manage to find a non-speed-related type of FD?
-
Makes sense when you dont fall from anything and get damage.
-
If explosion occured above your worm, you have some speed and a half of explosion crater diameter to travel. At the end, only speed matters, so free space between worm and ground might not be present. At the other hand, worm must hit the wall to be a subject of fall damage...

WTF 8, stop with this attitude "i'm the smartest boy around".
Too cocky, too hilarious.
-
> Says bullshit
> Says more bullshit
> Blames someone for being hilarious
That's not the way to go.
-
Sure kiddo, you're the real mvp around here.
Bye bye.

nice retreat, thought you would at least TRY to explain what exactly you thought of fd

'Speed damage' there refers to a worm hitting the ceiling (or some other surface) from below and coming back down. In this case Sensei's worm travels downwards and hits a wall, so it would be more accurate to call it regular fall damage.
I think speed may have some influence on fall damage which is where the confusion is coming from?
Anyway, assuming the nade did 46 damage I'm not too surprised by 14 fall damage there, you see that kind of damage in ZaR / roper a lot where the worm is on the side of the map, and hits the wall on the way down.

yes exactly
