Title: [Classic] Elite Cup: Knockout Stages
Post by: Rioter on February 25, 2009, 12:40 AM
***The knockout stages for elite cup have been moved to this topic: HERE (https://www.tus-wa.com/forums/cups-general/(classic)-knockout-stagesreport/)***

OK, first off, once I double checked all the tables, I will then create the groups.

The tables for the knockout stages will be created shortly, I have not had the time yet, and wednesday is never a good day for me doing things like this, way way too busy. Thursday at the very latest the knockout stages can commence. Sorry for the time gap.

One big snag is because two groups had zilch results, who will be filling in their places? Do I pick people out of the hat who did well but not got through? So on... Suggestions welcome

RULES FOR KNOCKOUT STAGES.
Once again it is best of three games! Whoever loses is knocked out the cup.
Same rules as before otherwise (use common sense when applying them)

For the semi finals, the losers will play a third place play-off.

Table for knockout stages:
Table removed thanks to bitch wagon. KinslayeR can put the new one up.

I'd cut off groups C, I, K and P, and had 24-12-6 and 3 finalists...
I and P players have no games at all, C and K players have only 1 game played, everyone else that goes further have at least 2 games played, it's fair...
huh?

As I mentioned there were two groups with no games whatsoever. Group I/P: None of them will go through, and they have probably found themselves in the blacklist. Group C/K: I will contact the people who played to see if they are still active and what not.

and what about me? I mean due to the fact, that no one except me was active in my group, I wasn't able to play any games...

OK. It would have been nice if you PM'd me the problem beforehand.

Again, I will look in detail about it tomorrow (tonight is not going to happen)

I posted quite the same in the other thread with the tables and you even replied (on the last page [4])...
but nevertheless, it's more important for me to know what will happen with me in the next stage :S

Ye, it's going kinda slow, even the deadline for the 1st round was too long, imo. If it's continuing like this, finals will be held in spring, lol.

OK Tables are about to go up.

There are some notes on who went through on the knockout stages, specifically due to the empty tables, there were three places up for grabs. I have given these to pr, beer and the loser of maeckes.v.flint game, as they would have been the top 3 losers, based on total points, and rounds won.

But I won my group(L) so why I have to play vs winner of group H?  :'(
as far as I remeber it should be winner vs someone who was second in his group ;)
But here first(koras) vs first(medal) and second Dark vs second mackes 8)

I'd say semis Bo5 and finals maybe even Bo9.

Edit: Dunno, but I'm a Bo5 (minimum) fan at all, you know. XD

OK I might have missed a column out. I will colour it now to make it easier as well. Thanks for pointing that out.

No. I never liked that way, as it can be manipulated. It's sometimes also unfair.

RANDOM is much better, and less likely to cause problems, as it's random.

Thats pointless arguments ...... Same here it can be manipulated, its also unfair ::)
But U are MOD.
Well now when I checked all pairs and tabels I see its 'random' ... before I just checked my group and my play offs opponent group>< wanted check how good he is (was really suprised when saw 1 L vs 1H and 2L vs 2H... as U see its unfair too).

Nevermind, good luck guys!

I agree with Koras... We both were 1st in our groups and now why we have to play against guys, who were 1st in their groups? Imo THAT is unfair... ;x

I agree with Koras and Dulek - there's no point in winning the group if u get to play against winner of another group later.

Yes, but what about the person who came second? They probably going to get beaten by someone who came first in their, and it's kinda against them, they can't escape that.

Title: Re: [Classic] Elite Cup: Knockout Stages
Post by: KinslayeR on February 27, 2009, 06:17 PM
I agree with Koras, Dulek, Rok and Jakka..
Dude, if u don't have f@#!ing half hour to update table, and when u FINALLY do it (coz u found so MANY time in ur so busy life), u do it wrong, and when Koras say to u what's the problem u smite him and talk about "Sorry, am I not allowed to have a life and an education any time soon?"

YES, man u are allowed everyone is, but u should know that being mod means to have 15 mins/per day to check site, upload table etc.. I really don't think so if easy upload table, write some numbers like "1", "2" there, takes so many times..
If u are really so much busy, then don't be MOD man..  No one forced u to do it, right ?  Man, I work sometimes 15 hours/per day,  and still 15 minutes for me is not so much to do thing u should do being mod.. U can smite me. I really dont care, but U just give a shit about tus, and I agree with Koras about new mod, maybe someone else will find 15 minutes in his life to update table and make better "knockout's stage table" coz this one really sux..  and i still dont understand what's the point to win the group if u get to play against winner of another group later..  :-*

Dunno, but do it like this?

1st of group A vs 2nd of group B, or whatever group, and so on, and not sure about letting beer, Flori and the other one pass to this stage, since they are actually out, so just give the player, that has to play them, a freebee, bla bla, bye. XD

Just givin' some mo' ideas.

Finals Bo9 and EVERY other round Bo5, forget about group stages at all, just do it like a playoffs tree, always 1v1 Bo5, 'cept the finals. So you have to pair randomly only once, and the rest does the playoff tree, you know.

What he siad

Fine then.

I am fed up with people bitching.

If you want f@#!ing reasoning, most of what keeps me busy comes up when I least expect it. If you want to live my life for a week then please by my guest. Otherwise stop your moaning!

Time wise, I now HAVE TIME, but what do I get when I have the time, everyone shooting me down! So I really am on the verge of give up.

Really, I'm fed up of dealing with what's being mentioned and really don't want any more involvement with this site any more, because in my opinion most of you are just all annoying little f@#!wits who don't think and just moan groan and make my job just that little bit more unbearable (however minute)

NOW THEN

TABLE REMOVED, I don't recommend playing with who you were meant to play. The NEW TABLE will be posted in a moment, with ammendments

@Twistah, freebies = doing something for nothing. Er.. no. Those three did something, and even though they would have not got through, who else would I have put through. People who didn't play?

@f4st, there was a table there, it worked on FF and Safari.

@Jakka, thanks for your words of wisdom, they are ignored.

@Twistah (recent), that's probably a good idea, bo5, then final bo7. The only downside is time.

Anyone else want to bitch about me? No. OK I messed up somewhat on the groups. I will admit that. Then again editing the tables was a pain to do, and time consuming, and really wasn't something I look forward to. If I had 5 mins, yes I could edit it, but I don't get it finished and consequently there's no point.

Also the tables has been corrected!!!!

Also having two members of my family in hospital doesn't help as well.

Redone tables will be up when I get home in 2 1/2 hours (2h30) - OK?!?!?
Or do you want me instantly replaced by KinslayeR

Title: Re: [Classic] Elite Cup: Knockout Stages
Post by: twistah on February 27, 2009, 09:13 PM
Nah, final Bo9 ftw. I mean, it's a final, I don't think time will be a big problem for maximum 9 games (what I don't think will happen anyway, more like maybe 7 games), you don't have to play them in a row, can split em in 2-3 days, you know. And the rest Bo5, from NOW on already, I'd say, if you play 3 or 5 games, doesn't rly matter, it's only like 30 minutes more, if ppl dont have time for this, then they shouldnt play worms at all, actually. It's not like he has to spend weeks 24/7 for this and Bo5 makes it much more skill, few luck games doesn't matter cos the better player prolly woulda win in the long run.

Summary:

No group stages now anymore, 1v1 all the way, Bo5, semis Bo7, finals Bo9 ftw. Playoff tree would have been cool, you straight can see who's out, who's not, who you might get to play and so on, that tree > group stages and anything else imo. What ya guys say?

Simple, you weren't. I was trying to avoid mentioning it, unfortunately you've pestered me about my lack of, so heres a major contributor.

With the playoff's twistah is suggesting, your thoughts MonkeyIsland? Would they work in what you are coding?

And yeah, Bo5 for the knockout stages, apart from Bo7 for semi and Bo9 for final/3rdplaceplayoff

Tables are now being written up.

No problem with coding bo3, bo5 or more.
Aren't they a bit lot?

Really, I'm fed up of dealing with what's being mentioned and really don't want any more involvement with this site any more, because in my opinion most of you are just all annoying little f@#!wits who don't think and just moan groan and make my job just that little bit more unbearable (however minute)

Should I consider that? Or that was an emotion that just passed?
Rioter it is not about not having a life. It is simple math. You accept it if you think you have time and you can do it. I once told you I can ask Obama to be mod on TUS. So if he update tables every year or more, then nobody must "moan", right? cause he is the president and have a life?
Do you want we start a "Who has the busiest life" contest here? Are you sure you will win?
Title: Re: [Classic] Elite Cup: Knockout Stages
Post by: KinslayeR on February 28, 2009, 09:41 AM
That's what I mean! but I wrote it in a bit harder words, sorry if too hard Rioter but it is true.. U are not only one busy here and as sayd MonkeyIsland it is just simple math, u dont need to have all day for that or whatever..  And I still think no one forced u to be the mod, but maybe I am wrong ??
I dont say u are bad mod but if someone say u true and u smite him for that and u say "Sorry, am I not allowed to have a life and an education any time soon?""
then it is bullshit.. 5 minutes or so is NOT all life, that's what I mean, u wanted be the mod, u should find this 5 minutes even if ur dog will die..

Bo9 final maybe is not bad idea but I dont see point to play bo9 elite, it is not comet dodging or intermediate, if u loose u dont loose coz u had worse positions or w/e, u loose coz u are worse than ur opponent, so bo5 is totally enough (for me).

I've got some more words of wisdome you can ignore.

I remember Worms Olympics in the summer of 2008. Some boy called Rioter was supposed to host some tourney, but cancelled it when it was supposed to start whinning and complaining about the people. Then some kind person took over and the tourney ran perfectly smooth. If you can't handle the people - don't try it.

Stop crying about your f@#!ing hard life you make most people laugh.

You just ain't got the right attitude to be a mod of any kind. Thank you for ignoring.

Bo9 sounds cool btw.

Well if you weren't all nagging, I would have had it up. I was about to post it, but since I saw all that above, I thought to myself why the hell should I bother any more.

I really don't want any more involvement with this site at all, for reasons I have specified. It appears a lot of impatient, nagging and all in all annoying people are here. Yes I was slow, and yes I will apologise for that, but if everyone's going to have a go, then why bother.

End of.
