Title: dibz internet.
Post by: avirex on February 08, 2014, 02:41 AM
dibz has been having trouble with his net.. its a slow service, and he often has a long lag in games, some times he pulls through the lag (even after the lag lasts around a minute)

but often times, more often lately, he drop out

does anyone have any idea how he can improve his signal??

i was thinking... CONTROL + ALT + DELETE > Task Manager > Processes > right click wa.exe > set priority (High)

this is just 1 idea i had... not sure it works, does anyone have experience with this?? will it work? should he try it??

anyone have any better ideas?

If his network lags, prioritizing WA would change anything, the only solution should be to call his provider.

Changing priority means that wa can use the processor more often than the other applications (threads).

Does he have wifi connection?  That can be slow if the router is a cheap one.

Causes can be many. For example,  few years ago I had connection problems every time the phone rang. I solved them by installing filters for each phone.

Setting priority high won't help as Tomi already said.

Avriex, this could be caused by load of things.
Some question he should think of.
Is his speed connection slow only for wa ?
Did he install new program that could use internet recently ?
Does this happens always or at specific time ?
Installing this prog (http://www.seriousbit.com/netbalancer/) and looking at program bandwidth usage could help.

got a microwave that could jumble the wifi signal ?
got an antivirus or any prog that could auto update and use your bandwidth ?

"my gf's breast size is poor, i need some program to increase it"

Just change provider, or make\buy antenna which can improve ur wifi speed.
If some time ago it worked very well and now not, check if some rogi neighbor stole ur password and using all traffic, also try replace your wifi point near ur PC.

Dibz, why don't you run a cable?  Or is the signal coming from the neighbor's house and that is why it is so bad?

dibz, give more information about your net...

no one is going to be able to help with you just saying "i have wifi"

also, dibz is in a unique situation, so he is limited to doing things such as "running a cable" but thats his business to share, not mine....   but dibz, atleast give more info about your net, the provider, where the router is, what you use to recieve the wifi etc.

right well I think its from the neighbour... but I had to pay £39 for 30 days no cable... the signal is poor and sometimes cut out. As far as I can see theres nothing we can do about it. just have to hope its ok.. the provider is bt wifi-with fon

You can change your wifi router's channel, there could be people nearby using the same channel as you, which causes interference. Might explain the intermittent issues. You'd have to login to the router to change its channel.

It depends if you need strength or quality.
Being on the same channel increase your channel strength but reduce its quality.
