Hey guys, my bro wants to get a PS4... but no clue which games to get.

Problem is that all the cool race games dont have split screen mode  :-[
And other than race games, not too many cool multiplayer games around either.

My PS4 top picks:

-Worms Battlegrounds (obviously)
-Elder Scrolls online (good for wasting your life)
-The Messenger (very good puzzler)
-Resogun (excellent shoot 'em up)
-Street Fighter V
-Metal Gear Solid 5 (simply amazing)
-The Witcher 3 (once again, amazing)
-Mega Coin Squad (crazy addictive local multiplayer)
-Disgaea 5 (turn-based strategy JRPG, like Final Fantasy Tactics, only way deeper)
-Firewatch

Uncharted 4 is going to be off the chizzain

I don't see any reason to get a console beside exclusives tbh, since most times PC version offers more. Not to mention it's cheaper in a long term to build a PC instead a console.

I bought my xbox 360 for 200$ on sale and have used it for 7-8 years now, what kind of pc could i have built for 200$?  Also, I don't f@#! it up with viruses from porn like I do computers.

If you only consider console price ofc it will look cheap. That's why I said in a long term .
Calculate 200$ + 8 x Xbox Live Gold + Game prices with less discount

- You can for example build a 390-450$ PC that will outperform xBox One. Even cheaper if you wanna just outperform Xbox 360.
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Lonxu/saved/4LMNnQ
http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Lonxu/saved/gBmTwP
For example while Xbox One has 720p 60 FPS or 1080p 30 FPS, these bad boys has 1080p 50-60 FPS with better much better graphics on latest titles. (such as Fallout 4, The Witcher 3)

- There's no fee for online play on PC.

- There are high discounts on titles at Steam. Bioshock Trilogy got -85% for God's sake. Also if you're a pirating bastard it's even cheaper. Buy multiplayers, pirate singleplayers.

- And just some extra features of a PC:
* No hardware limitations
* Changeable parts. You can stick with same parts or you can upgrade it with a better part.
* More exclusives on PC.
* Indie games.
* Emulators. You can even play Wii titles on PC (or for example ZexorZ played Mario Maker for Wii U with an emulator at 60 FPS on his laptop)
* Modding community
* Infinite backwards compatiblity. I can play GTA 5 and The Oregon Trail.
* Beside keyboard and mouse you can play with a controller.

*You can't make WA maps with a console  :)

Well of course you can make a pc that outperforms xbox 360 now for 200$.  How about in 2008?  I don't think so.

I did forget about xbox live gold though, 40-50$ a year means I spent 400$ on online subscription.

So yeah, PC is cheaper.  Still like console though despite extra cost, likely because all my friends play via console.

hmmm why not both?
Title: Re: playing on ps4 right now?
Post by: HHC on April 25, 2016, 12:55 AM
A mix would be better  :)

There's stuff about ps4 I don't like btw, mostly the lack of disk space. My bro has only 3 or 4 games installed and its full already.. though it must be said he got some free content from PSN as well, but still..
The DLC's are also getting out of control, some even have different season passes and shit like that. I don't like it. Not only does it feel like you buy an incomplete game, its also a big hassle to pay and download all these different 'versions'.

Neway, PC is nicer on all fronts, except that everyone has a different model (so with almost every game on steam, 10-20% complain that the game crashes on startup.. Also, controllers can be a bit of a hassle.

I kinda like both as Husk says. PC for usual games and also for 2d, indie products. Console for when I feel like just chilling out or playing good graphic games (on PC i must turn all graphics to LOW quality to get it to work fluently).

Yeah, I am not against console. If you have money, own both. :) I support to play the games on the system with best overall. Like if you can afford build a great PC build and play latest games on ultra settings, or if most of your friends are on a console/console game, play that like Wally.

For me PC all the way because almost no friends on a console, they all on PC/Steam, PC suits my needs better (listed most of the reasons at the post before). I might get a console if I will ever have extra money for it though.

P.S. I don't think PlayStation VR will be successful, PS4 hardware doesn't seem good enough and if I remember correctly you need 90+ FPS to play via VR properly. HTC Vive seems really good (imagine combining it with a good sim racing kit) but damn pricey. ;D

PC gaming is definitely superior in a lot of ways, but what I like about console gaming is the fact that I can lay back on my couch and play games on my big screen HDTV. I kinda regret buying all of my PS4 games via digital from the PS Store. I have so many games in my account, but I can never resell them, which sucks. (But then again I like the convenience... plus most of the games I've purchased were on sale.) If I had the cash, I'd definitely build a kick-ass computer. Right now I have a pretty damn nice laptop though.

The thing that I hate about console gaming is that so many games practically require voice chat. I don't always wanna be sitting there with a headset on. That's annoying.

On the flipside... when it comes to PC gaming, it feels like your rig is never complete. It's really easy to dump a lot of money into a rig that you'll be upgrading in no time, especially with ultra 4k gaming becoming more commonplace, and VR right around the corner.

I'm going to keep my PS4 for now only because I've invested a bunch of money in games and I can never get that money back unless I sold my PSN account, and most people aren't up for doing such things.

Also, even though I play video games A LOT, I feel like it's boring as shit nowadays. I more or less play out of habit anymore. I can't remember the last time I've bought a game that actually HOOKED me and compelled me to play non-stop. I have a bunch of "AAA" titles that I've barely even touched for PS4. Most of my Steam library is a bunch of crap. I've bought a bunch of bundles from Bundlestars and Humblebundle... sometimes I'll buy a bundle just for one game.

For me, to stay really interested in and actively play a game, I need a friend who is willing to play as well. Unfortunately, most of the gamers I know are split between systems, split between games, or never have time to play anymore, or are just MIA.

*cough* HDMI Cable + Steam Big Screen Mode *cough*

Right, but it is less convenient. I'd need to have my laptop set up near my tv. I'd also need to buy a wireless controller for PC. Also, with PlayStation I can control everything with the controller. With Steam I'd have to get up and use the mouse from time to time. Ain't nobody got time fo' dat!

I don't know if you are familiar with big sceeen mode but if you play games with full controller support on big screen mode you won't have to move from your couch at all.

Also if you get a long enough HDMI cable, you can put laptop next to your couch just like me, in case if some games doesn't have full controller support. I use that when I play NES games on Steam Big Screen (you can't quit from emulators, you can also bind an unused key as Alt+F4 thou)

Why would you pay for NES games on Steam when you can just download an emulator and like every ROM ever? Aside from ethical concerns, that is..

Anyway, I'm sure that I could make PC gaming as convenient as console gaming with a little investment. If I had the cash to build a nice PC and get a quality 4k monitor, I'd probably never touch my PS4 again. For now I'm happy with a mix of both, but in the future I'm probably not going to buy another console.

I'd buy them for the convenience, but 90% are horribly overpriced..

Out of curiosity, what 10% of consoles aren't overpriced? I can't think of any.

They're non-steam shortcuts with custom grid images created by myself. When you click play, it opens emulator and runs selected game automatically.
