Lmao, so I was just browsing the Internet and I found this game called Hedgewars, I'm not trying to advertise or anything but I just thought that I should let the WOrms Community know ^^. http://www.hedgewars.org I just downloaded it and tried out the shopper mode, It's not as fun as Worms, and it's a lot harder =/ Try it out if you're bored :D
You can actually customise your "Hedge" with hats and stuff, it's pretty entertaining.

Team17 could sue them no? Except the players, all the concept, even graphics are so similar. It is great someone tried to recreated Worms, but if you're gonna put this much effort why not make something unique?

plagerism alright, Some of those texture are pretty much identical like the cheese, rocks, palms tree, clouds. Mother f@#!ers we should get the whole worms community to spam their forums with hate mail. I really do believe this was made by an ex WA player who couldn`t compete with the l33tness of WormNet.
I wonder how big their online community is? hope its not big because they are all potential WA players who have been miss guided and dont no what they are missing.

I tried this shit some years ago, the only thing was good for me it runs on mac auauh and I hadn't to rebbot, but it sucks as hell. We played 2 times with Alenic, the rope sucks so much and it's sad remaking worms.

Let's not start a whole campaign against hedgewars here pizzasheet. This place is for discussing games, not for online vendetta's.
Hedgewars is what it is. It's up to T17 to take legal steps.. or not. It's their property after all.
There are so many clones out there.. who cares? It's not like any comes even close to WA. If people want a decent game they should pay the price and buy WA.

Trolling their forums won't makes things better. If you care, go to their online channel, play with their players and introduce W:A to them.
Here (http://www.hedgewars.org/node/3694), someone is saying unless you don't copy code or art work, you can "borrow" everything else without a problem.

I downloaded the game.
Cons on first glance:
1. The hedges design are worse than worms.
2. The accuracy of the game is lower than W:A.
3. Roping is not enjoyable and doesn't function properly.
Pros on first glance:
1. The game is not limited to 256 colors.
2. You can zoom-in, zoom-out with mouse wheel. Could be so useful for worms.
3. It seems that it is a growing game. Like our PX, there seems to be weapons getting added often.

Yeah, the roping is so ridiculously bad implemented, even the shitty Worms Reloaded that I tested on the free weekend gave me more joy when roping. Worms clones with shitty rope mechanic can go away, just like all the other Worms games from T17 excluding Worms2,A,WP.

It's still better than many of the latter 2d games after WWP to be honest.

Nice to see that there's an actual discussion going on, I expected this to turn into a "Hate on Hedgewars" thread, oh and Konata is not my girlfriend, I saw somebody state that :P And I'm not Mablak either lmao.
EDIT: Re-read the thread, so some guy decided to flame the Hedgewars Forum, not a smart move. Do you really think "Potential" WA players will start to play it if you do crap like that? Now they think that our community is a piece of crap.

You can download the game and then watch demos from the site I think. It's like replays I suppose.

In worms momentum is cumulative. In hedgewars momentum is conservative.
There is a push feet against ground to gain physically wrong momentum. In worms that doesn't exist.
You can slide long distances because the friction is very low.
You can change aim direction in mid air, you can't do that in worms.
I think that is the reason for 1 shoppa : 20 highlander ratio that you see in hedgewars.

Game still seems to be in early stage, latest version 0.9.23, i played it and it needs more development, not enough weapons, too many soundbank voices disabled and AI is probably dumber than Worms, even when CPU level set to 5 :/

Altho when CPU set to level 5 it's just a little bit dumber than the same in Armageddon so it doesnt really bother me, and i like to play together with a CPU against another CPU, not sure if this exists in Worms games
Nevertheless, Worms 2 & Armageddon are still million times better, but i can have fun with both HW and originals

Not just Hedgewars stole the concept from Worms series, they even stole Sonic The Hedgehog sprites for their Hat and Flag remakes. Same with Nintendo's Mario being stolen by just a bunch of punks, which DON'T MIND ABOUT ANY COPYRIGHTS. Even my story mods have a credit (Based on Team17 Source). But they? NOWHERE TO BE SEEN.

Maybe we should just release Worms 1995 as open source
That way, we would have an actually good artillery game be open source.

There is also a free-to-play game on Steam called "Bombix" which is a blatant Worms rip-off as well. It's a terrible game yet some people on Steam seem to think it's better than Worms for some unexplainable reason.
