Title: Your Top-5 games for the PC
Post by: HHC on June 25, 2011, 11:39 AM
What the title says. Games for PC, not for the consoles & no browser games.  :)

Ignore WA/WWP, naturally that's the best xD

Mine:
1.Panzer General 2
(http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/article/980417/b_1_8.jpg)
Must be about 15 years old now, but I guess the most fun game I ever played. It started turning crap when they tried to go 3d, but this oldschool 2d is still awesome. Contrary to other 'tabletop'-wargames it's easy to learn, challenging and just fun to play. First bombard them with the artillery then send in the Tiger-tank to blow up the remains 1-by-1. Objective is to capture all the yellow-border flags on the map (city centres, strategic locations, etc.).

2.Battlefield1942
Classic game of course. Was great when I first played it and it's awesome still. Vietnam is also nice, but after that it got a little complicated/overdone. The essence is captured in 1942 and more you really don't need. I always had fun capturing the hillpoint at Charkov, get into one of them mobile artillery pieces and just shoot away at the enemies trying to run across the bridge that leads to the center of the city. It was carnage.

3.Age of Empires II: Age of Kings
Everyone knows this game. No need to explain  :)

4.Trackmania United
Played this online for 2 or 3 years. The only racing game that really took the time trial mode to the next level. Lots of fun to play, but a bit of a strain on the hands. The ability to make your own levels is also what makes TM TM.

5.Worms:Reloaded
Despite all the shittyness... still an awesome fun game to play.

That's it, tell me yours  :)

1) Warcraft 3 (the game is excellent and extension with dota is just awesome)

2)Tomb raider 2 (i know it's not exclusive PC but i used to play it on PC and get lot of memories with this game)

3)Plant vs zombies (the version PC is the best), this game is just stupid but vvvfun to play a little repetitive once u finished it but concept is very simple and provides lot of fun.

4) Dungeon keeper, who never dreamt to raise their owns devils ?

5) Commando, this game is old but vgood!

1. Thief Series - some middle age stealth based game in which you perform burglaries on wealthy lords and such. :)
2. Splinter Cell series - again some stealth based action game only in a completeley different setting.
3. GTA series - nothing beats those in terms of variety and fun in an open world environment.
4. Race 07 - very fun racing simulation, especially online this the shit.
5. Shot Online - really fun golf rpg, might look a bit crappy at the beginning but it has so much depth. :)

Well, some more to mention like TM Nations Forever and the Gothic series. I also had some fun with the Tomb Raider parts. :)

But anyway, it's a old game developped by a little company, so I guess it's normal GTA is better.

Lol lion king isn't a PC game, you'll have to change that :P

Ropa/Anubis, I loved WoW until they brought out Lich King, to put it simply, I just didn't have the time to keep up with everyone, seriously WoW addicts make any other addict look like a 1st timer, WoW addicts don't do shit except that for like at least 12-16 hours a day, and they don't sleep at weekends...

Plus I think WotLK and this new Cata sucks, I haven't even bought Cata, I just can't be arsed... They keep changing everything and it bugs me, I just started to perfect BG's with my druid at level 70 then they f@#!ing changed the talent trees n shit, to be honest in the long run I think i've wasted my money on WoW, I don't like the fact I am paying for something they keep changing, it's like just giving your money away for free... (And I know I probably stand alone on this opinion).

But still, whilst playing up to level 70, was one of the most fun/addicting games i've ever played :)

I finally managed to fix the colour bug with older games on windows7  8)

Go to desktop, right click and select 'personalize'. Now select a theme with a solid background colour (I picked black - high contrast). The background theme will now change.
Next, right click again and select display settings. Don't change anything here, just leave the window open. Now start the game.. and voila, all the colours are perfectly fine!

Works for AoE2 and all other oldschool games  8)

After you're done playing simply close the display window and change the theme back. Works like a charm and you don't need to kill your explorer anymore  ;)

1. Planescape: Torment (BioWare and Black Isle in its best, old RPG's were something made with passion)
2. HoMM III (compulsory element on the party)
3. The Witcher (our polish success and if you read the book before, then you're hundred time more sucked into the game, finding out analogies, which normal player would forget or not even recognize, makes you smile pretty often)
4. KOTOR (both, great plot, especially in first one)
5. Gears of War (though maybe I'm not a shooter fan, this one is really something, blazes new trails, enjoyed it quite much)

1. Worm Armageddon and World Party of course - I have never spent so much time with any other game, for 6 years, almost without any break
2. Diablo 1 - I tried Diablo 2 but never liked it as much as 1... easy but really cool game, with fantastic vibe
3. Deluxe ski jump - drama grafic, drama sound, but great fun! xD
4. Sims 1 - I spent with this game lots of time too, but it was 10 years ago, I played after Sims 2 and 3, but never as long as 1. I always liked to get better and better job there, and never used cheat for money :P
5. Tropico - cool strategy, I have always wanted to have my own island. Just for relax :)

not necessarily, it was released for PC too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hogs_of_War
but I'd choose emulation, cuz in PC version AI forgot how to move around

The version we are talking about was emulation though.

I recently bought Hogs of War on Steam though and it works ok, still doesn't feel as good as Playstation version.

It also lacks the cutscenes which sucks :( Rik Mayall is a legend!
