Title: Game #228527, reported by ZorroX
Post by: Zalo the moler on September 16, 2021, 10:49 PM
I heard there was some small confusion in the stream about my girder, so maybe I will clarify :) That's "1-way girder", it allows me to go upwards, while not letting the enemy go downwards. There is around 1 pixel of mistake margin. I managed to pull it off correctly in Round 3. Danie knew he had to react quickly since he would be attacked the next turn. That's why his grandma was "rushed" in that turn.

In the attachment below I send a small tutorial on how to do it (Replay file). I suggest watching it in 1280x720 or 1366x768

One-way girder is very important to know and very useful tactic. You can do the one-way girder easily if you have a mouse with a button to change DPI. Create an option in your mouse software with a very low DPI (eg., 200), and moving your cursor very slowly (because of the low DPI), count the pixels until reach the place to put a one-way girder. In that way it's pretty easy to do that.

This map (https://www.wmdb.org/31682) has a one-way tunnel in the grenade race part. You cannot pass normally (walking) if I remember correctly, only exploding your worm through the tunnel and after that you cannot go back.

EDIT: actually you can go back by walking, but cannot go further by walking, only exploding the worm makes you go further. My next post has an image and a replay file to demonstrate what I'm talking.

This is a replay of a game on that map. If you watch starting at 19:35 my turns playing in the tunnel you will understand better what I'm talking. So, if you want to understand faster, just skip with space bar the other players and wait for the very last seconds of my turns.

There was an ONL match a while back, or maybe it was 80hp, I can't remember exactly... I can't even remember confidently enough who it was, although i'm like 75% sure it was Dario...

Anyway, he explained about this one way girder thing, and remember either him or Mablak explaining about using the Windows DPI feature so you can actually move the mouse 1 pixel at a time using the numpad or something very easily in order to place one-way girders that way.

Maybe one of those guys can explain it better.
