Title: Lack of rule knowledge and consequences?
Post by: darKz on April 18, 2010, 09:13 PM
Okay so we just played a clanner vs OmG. I guess most of the active clans know them already, but to sum it up, they're complete newbies, don't know much about rules and don't understand English very well.
This (https://www.tus-wa.com/leagues/game-24396/) is the game in question. As you can see we tried to explain the rules to them (don't mind the chat near the end of the game, we were kinda fed up with them).

So how does TUS handle this? I mean it's not funny playing against people who don't know the rules and don't seem to want to learn them. SPW's suggestion was that each time a clan (maybe even player) registers to TUS its creator is asked a few questions about TUS rules to confirm that they read and understand the rules. Or something like that.

Hope you guys are up for a discussion about a tough topic. :P

Great idea.

PS: There is also many players who don't know rules and don't care about it.
Even when you tell them the rules, they say "I don't care", or "no". Isn't very funny, and you never know what to do on such a case.

Yeah that clan we played them last night we had to report a free win coz they didn't want to play our pick coz it wasn' t a true scheme (hysteria) MI should remove them from the league clanners.

well we had same problem against them  :P
i'm not sure if they really don't know some of the rules or just don't want to respect them and make fun of us...
for ex: in our rr game vs them, after placing all the worms @ start one of the omg guys just knocked all the other worms down  :o :o :o (with clearly intention  :D )
and during the shoppa game they tried to make glitches, although Godi` explained them that glitches are forbidden @ TuS leauge games :P

Anyway hopefully they'll get the system and they will improve their English skillz  8) 8) 8)

Peace

The problem here is that they rather don't understand the ethics which the worms online community has, since this is a pretty unique game and league system compared to other games, they just didn't get it so far. They will, I am sure.

Other than that, this is the first similar issue in, what, 2 years? I don't think any preventive measures are necesarry, unless this issue propagates.

How about translating the scheme rules in the respective language? Question is if they would bother reading them then though....

Translations are also on the to-do list. :) But of course, as you say, it doesn't guarantee that they will read them.
