I was hosting a bng clanner the other day, the opposing clan refused to play on a map I selected, and instead they hosted with a map like this lol

All I know is that these maps were introduced ages ago. I remember playing on them shortly after I first started playing, so that's 2002-2003. I also remember the BkM guys (mainly freezer and KiLL0r) making maps like these but not sure if the idea reaches even further back.

Also the map choices page you linked Ramone is all of the played games, not necessarily means the host. Weren't komo's maps those volcano centered maps? I may be wrong though.

You don't understand the differences do you?
I only really used maps like this in serious competitive games and ALL my maps were carefully created to be equally challenging/fair on both sides, that map you showed is 100% horizontal and NONE of my maps are 100% horizontal, my maps had the bit in the middle incase some people tried to shoot too low.
I never started using these maps anyway, it wasn't me who started the trend, it is the most popular map style for competitive League BnG games, and that has nothing to do with me.
And since I never saw you ever take 1v1 BnG seriously, it doesn't surprise me you would act like a dumbass as usual, so I forgive you.

It's not about if a single map is good or not, it's that this kind of maps became sort of "standard" by time, and that's wrong. They are all the same with a tiny bit of difference.

That thread was the last attempt to change smth about it, but as many other threads it ended up abandoned with a feeling of nausea to many of us because Komo got involved (again) and U know how it goes.. [/van signature]

These maps don't encourage notching, people making notching guides public is what encourages notching, most BnG players probably dislike the way you actually play BnG, throwing 4s nades instead of 3, repeating constantly etc... You don't see anyone making threads about it, with a big red cross through a map shaped like MonkeyIsland... Not that I mind, I actually respect the fact you are open and honest about playing the way you do before the start of a game, I actually really enjoyed playing against you, it's a different kind of challenge...
Anyone who really understands how to notch can notch on ANY kind of map, I actually find Ramones maps are easier to notch on because there are less hides, these maps are actually harder to notch on because they have harder hides, so if you have a good accurate shot and a variety of shots in mind you should be fine...
The only thing I can say you might agree on, these maps get a bit boring... Ramones maps are the most fun maps i've ever played on the guys a genius when it comes to making BnG maps for funners...
With or without notching, in League matches I just prefer maps with more hides and harder places to hit, it's more challenging and enjoyable for me and that's why I use the maps I use, this "standard" was passed down from the previous BnG players, I was taught "T17 map, delete top fill bottom, -forest" and gradually over time I made small changes to make for more hides to fit on the map.
I know this exact map Ramone uploaded is taking the piss a bit, but I know what he's getting at, and who cares, most people prefer these kind of maps for competitive BnG apparently so what's the big deal, no one forces anyone to play?

You HAVE improved BnG maps in your own way, you got like 120 of them... ALOT of people love them, including me...
But this kinda map, IS the best for competitive league BnG, it's been tried and tested for yeeeeears...
If someone doesn't like this kind of BnG map, then they should host and create their own kinda map.

Ain't surprised at all! ;) As I've said, dunno why did I posted this issue (again) at the 1st place.. Really, from my point of view, keep on with monotonous -forest maps. In fact, my suggestion for tus bng would be to adopt 1 single map and just play on it, it's what's happening already but with a slight touch of some make-up, so it doesn't looks like it. Why would ppl bother and waste 20 secs to make a new map? No need.
Keep on, if Komo says it's the best - then it's the best, no need to discuss it.

Well, I am an open minded player, i'll try any new scheme/idea at least once, I don't always play on this type of map, any time anyone has ever asked for a diff map i've done it, except that one time with mm when I was in cFc.
Come up with some sketches and share them, host some Tournaments or summin i'll chip in :)
