two of my friends recently bought this game, and I wonder what the best scheme for introducing them to worms would be
my first thoughts were intermediate and hysteria, but I find the former too slow and the latter has too high of a learning curve
so ye, ideas?
-
It can not be more classic than Normal. Hyst is too tight for newcomers, i remember my first Hysteria, it was hysteria indeed :D
-
well, like I said, both me and my friends find normal too slow
now that I think about it, pro might be the best option
-
shopper is a noob magnet
i used to love that shit for the first month i played

kek, pretty much all schemes are either too slow or have a too high learning curve
http://worms2d.info/Schemes idk, maybe you'd find something fitting
I was going to suggest Kaos because action, but the noobs would just immediately waste all their stuff and then complain complain complain
sooo yeah, try Shopper
-
alright guys, sounds good
we'll be playing bungee race then
-
Full Wormage or Rowy Madness with delays first to introduce them to all of the weapons, then:
If they like rope more than anything, play Shopper
otherwise, play Intermediate
EDIT1: Omg, haven't read the OP in the first place. Try Normal but with less turn time maybe? Problem with them is that they don't realise that this is a turn-based S T R A T E G Y game. civ 5 plz

they have realized that it's a turn based strategy game and they love civ 5, so ye

[...] and they love civ 5, so ye
then why dafaq they think is slow? civ 5 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay slower than this.

but civ 5 has simultaneous turns

rope: shopper definetely
ground: after learning some weapons, kaos is a great noob scheme. Especially the version including double damage, concrete donkey etc
-
Max scheme. They will love Worms afterwards

no.

wtf thoughts bout kaos

Oh yes. There is NOTHING worse than these restricted schemes with shit weps for beginners...they will hate it.
-
The Beginner scheme is the best choice for the newcomers. The Select Worm at the turn's start + unlimited Ninja Ropes, Kamikazes and 1 Laser Sight make the Beginner scheme the best scheme for the newcomers!

in your opinion, yes
in everyone else's opinion, no
-
If they're already familiar with Worms but not the online part of it, Shopper is a good choice.
If they're completely new, Intermediate is fine.
-
Full Wormage is nice to test all weapons and stuff xD

It doesn't matter. Just, don't pick Hysteria as the best scheme for the newcomers, it will sound like a hell for their brains. Even I can't act so fast in this scheme, althrough I am an advanced wormer

You can't give them all the cake at start!
They will never move from full wormage.
-
And they would never move away from max scheme, exactly. So better give them the shit first. First the work then the pleasure
-
What about FORTS? This scheme limits tactic part of game, but opens good artillery style.
Intermediate+
SINGLE PLAYER -> TRY MISSION :D:D

I Did move and all others from my time did. it is relative, Einstein knows what iam talking about

Sorry for the necro, but I suggest Full Wormage.
Seriously, they can use whatever weapons they want.
-
Time Trial Rope Race
-
anything rope related, roper (easier maps), warmer, shopper and flyshopper. flyshopper is much better than wxw for newcomers
-
I'd recommend a lax Kaos (give them a couple ropes/teleports/jetpacks to start with). Kaos scheme is great because they can play around figuring out weapons without instant turn loss from damage or missing their single shot by a mile. that can be very frustrating to new players, especially in a larger group (minutes between turns), this gives them a chance to settle in.
Hysteria is in my opinion the best scheme to improve shots, but the fast reaction times make it a bad introduction for newcomers (short wait between turns is a positive, once they're familiar enough to try it).

This. Newcomers should start with Full Wormage because it's fun and easy for them and they get the chance to try out a bunch of weapons and figure out what they do. After a while they can transition to other schemes like Blast Zone, then to ones with more limited inventories and get into the finer points of strategy. Newcomers could also perhaps give shopper a go eventually to practice up with the rope since it's a pretty simple scheme.
