Title: Jebus christ, do I need to set up a TdC relief fund?
Post by: HHC on December 12, 2010, 08:27 PM
Buy yourself some reliable, working technology for crying out loud.

One member has no KB, the other has keys not working, then there's the dude without a WA disc and finally there's Fada with a computer and connection dating from the time of the French Revolution..

Comee onnn, buy yourself something decent. The economy is not that big a'shit at the moment.

In all my time playing worms I must have heard the "My keyboard is broken / not responding / keylock" thousands of times : D

What is it about worms players and their shitty keyboards?

Keyboards really are the cheapest accessory yet people put up with keylock and broken spacebars and all sorts of crap.

*edit* - Oh sorry.  I didn't see this was a post in your forum until I'd clicked send!  Sorry for butting in! :<

Dämn folks, seems my comp is dead.

Everytime I start it up it restarts itself within half an hour at least 70% of the time. Very frustrating. I fixed it a while ago by reinstalling windows, but after one and a half month it suddenly crashed and since then it's been doing the reinstalling again. Today this happened too, but I got a 'windows cant start cause of damaged system file' notice as a bonus. I tried repairing mode but it freezes there  :-X

So yeah now I'm on laptop.. Tomorrow I will order a new tower (can't be arsed to find a fix anymore for this shit), which I hope to fully install in the course of next week. Till then I gotta play on laptop :(

p.s.: I've heard a lot of shit about worms having issues with the latest versions of windows, anyone know if this is still a problem or is there like a patch to make it run well?

my worms always worked fine on windows 7, the only issue was the color bug, but after this new update it is all fine amigo.

Alright I ordered the new cpu today. Should be here on tuesday  8)

Btw anyone know how I can transfer my data from old comp to new? I only have 1 monitor and 1 laptop-screen, do I need one to get access to the hard drives?
Sure hope the old one still works though, would really suck if I lost all the docs and mp3's on there..  ???

Anyway, onto another year of worms  8)

200gb? Something like that.

I can send some to my laptop, but it has only 20gb hdd and it would require me to switch between old and new comps a few time which may be a problem cause the old one may only work once  ???
I've got a 120gb external disk as well, but again restarting necessary.
Easiest would be over LAN, but yeah, I guess I need 2 monitors for that?

Isn't it a one time thing? Transfer to your 120 GB external drive and when done, so the same with 80 GB. No?
Title: Re: Jebus christ, do I need to set up a TdC relief fund?
Post by: HHC on January 02, 2011, 09:51 PM
Yeah I guess. I was hoping I could do it at once. The bad thingabout the external disk is that it sometimes f*cks up the data, loses it or damages it you know. Even if the old comp manages to start up twice, you still risk losing stuff in the process and only later find out about it. Hmm I'll see.

hmm maybe the new computer u can`t open the case cos warranty, but the best way to do is,  put ur old HDs as "slave" in ur  new computer and it will acces the old HD normally then u transfer from D: to C: per exemple.

and by lan, u dont need 2 monitors for this.

u just need to share the entire HD on windows in ur old pc, then u just turn it on without monitor but with a lan cable pugled, then in ur new computer u just go in ur windows explorer and type \\ip(local) of ur old computer per exemple \\192.168.254.100

ull see the entire disk and ull have acess for this, just copy and paste ae. a tip ae, dont copy and paste all disk, go copying by folders and there u go my friend.

Hmm I'll try that nino.

Im not a hero with cpu building (a virgin really hah), so I don't think I should open it to put those old HD's in. But your LAN tip seems really useful, thanks!

it will take ages!

the best way is to plug ur hd as slave like said nino but if u are under warranty u are screwed!

Urgh, I tried starting my old comp today to transfer the most important docs to my laptop and put the HDD's on share for nino's method..
I failed. It starts up, it shows the Acer-screen with the option to enter Setup menu or boot menu, but it freezes there and none of the keys works, so I can't enter anything.. :(

Anyway, I just bought an USB to IDE/Sata adapter, which, if it does what I think it does should allow me to access a HDD externally (that is, without having to build it into the new tower.. and thus save the warranty and possible damage from noob-skills). Let's see.  :)

ur old HDD is IDE HHC?

Title: Re: Jebus christ, do I need to set up a TdC relief fund?
Post by: HHC on January 03, 2011, 03:00 PM
uhmm i dunno?

edit: no, Sata by the looks of it.

I probably need to plug the adapter right into the box, cause I can't seem to get it out.. Comp ain't got screws to keep it in place, but some kind of safety mechanism I can't seem to figure out. :o

so all u need is something like this

http://www.leadership.com.br/produto_descricao.asp?codigo_produto=4037&familia=tlg

then ull conect ur old HDD inside this and then plug the usb cable in ur new computer, ur new computer will recognize ur HDD as it does for a pen-drive. and there u go my friend.
