Title: rubber worms and classic schemes ?
Post by: zippeurfou on October 07, 2011, 10:08 AM
Hello,
I'm posting this regardless of my last trl https://www.tus-wa.com/leagues/game-87344/.
First of all, he won it straight and he totally deserves the win and it is totally independent of the game.
But this game made me wonder if it is right to allow rubber worms for one player on classic schemes ?
I repeat myself, it is not a complaint but more about a debate.
To be honest, I don't really like it. Not it gives a special advantage but still it allows a player to have "something more" than the other one.
What do you think ? :)

It's a WormKit feature, not rubberworm.

There is exactly one person on planet earth who uses that anyway. Besides, not much of an advantage, puts an arrow to indicate where the crate is, but you see that anyway, you must be really retarded to need this feature.

I voted to forbid, just to piss Chelsea off.

Chelsea, do you play 640x480 or what? It's really not that hard to find where a crate fell on a standard-sized map :)

I don't really see what's the big deal with this feature.

I'd still forbid it for the reasons already mentioned. Noone should be allowed in league games to have his game modded regardless of the (dis)advantage.

Then how does an arrow which is like 4x smaller than a crate help?

Sometimes we lose time cause we didn't watched where the crate was dropped (you have to look at the map + look at the way to reach it).
So I'm ok to forbid it.

Except if you allow AHK, in which case it's non sense to ask for this.

Nice. :D

Chelsea, even if I blindfold my right eye I can see everything well enough (I mean on a worms map). But if that's really the case, I'm sorry to head it. :-X

i think if that's the reason, its correct.
I played with 640 x 480 until Jun of this year, and i had no problems about crates.
But who cares? I think that thing is most used for players who minimize

I agree with Gab. sometimes I minimize during a roper and the wa program bar makes a noise when ur turn starts and with a 5 sec hot seat time I don't really have time for searching the cr8.

I understand. I didn't mean to be offensive, if it works for you, cool, I found it weird it makes a difference.

I had this happen in a shopper vs Phanton some months / years ago. I thought it was a bit unfair because the shopper map was abit complex and sometims you do forget where the cr8 is when ur roping to otherside of map and may waste 5 seconds or something when going down the wrong route.

There is an advantage and times and we should all play on an even playing field.

When also forbid custom worm names. Every Worm has to be Worm 1, 2, 3 etc. it is unfair!

Give Chelsea some special glasses, ban rubberworm features in classic schemes.

You cannot forbid rubberworm, it has already been officially integrated into the next beta (all features except Kawoosh's new ones - this is planned yet).
Arrows - lol, it's an absolutely harmless feature (except the Darkness mode). And you cannot prevent its usage anyway: there's an easy trick - play an offline game and enable /arrows, go back into menu, don't quit WA. Arrows will be always enabled without a notification until you fully exit WA. 8)

We can discuss about it infinitely and forbid new and new simplicity ways, most of which cannot anyway be prevented. But somehow I like your idea. :)
