That pretty much sums up what's wrong with worms nowadays, doesn't it? Seems like people should listen to Cueshark some more.

Newling, you are welcome to join the holy max server sometimes. Good fights on big nice maps with big weapons for men and a Tobi in his best condition since 2008. The max scheme is without chute of course with random mines developed in 2008 with love and care.

Bye

To be honest it doesn't, to begin with people have always been kicked from games even when WA started, there is nothing wrong with kicking people you don't know from games, there are only 3 reasons I will kick someone from a game:

1) If they don't speak English(so can't learn rules from me).
2) They speak English but aren't willing to listen/learn rules.
3) I am hosting a clanner or another game designed for specific people.

But I will usually write a message before kicking them, telling them why I am kicking them.

If I ever see someone in #AG asking for help about anything I will do whatever I can to help, but there are so many people who either don't wish to learn or who are impossible to teach because they don't speak English, when WA 1st came out there were so many American, British players and generally English speaking players who would sit and chat in the lobby, it was easier to communicate back then, now most players don't speak English as their primary language, so it's ridiculously hard to teach/tolerate noobs when you can't communicate with them, this goes with Russian players not being able to teach English or Spanish etc, and Italian not teaching French etc...

The ONLY way people will stop being kicked is if there are automatic messages in each players language of choice which explains rules/schemes/websites etc, popping up in #AG and other channels every 30-60 seconds or something, and also each time they log on or start WA little "Did you know?" hints and tips could pop up like you get with other games.

But with T17 showing no interest in WA, I doubt a project like this could ever work.

If you don't want to know more people and if you want people to quit before giving wa a chance, then you are correct.
The difference between then and now is that there isn't as much of a steady supply of newcomers anymore.

I've brought this up before. The problem is that the long-time players are an in-crowd that either:

A. Play a limited number of schemes, such as rope games.

or

B. Play amongst themselves, like clan and TUS games, or games scheduled with friends/in-crowders via chat rooms.

or

C. Are hardcore and arrogant, such as NNN.

Very few are like me, who log in to WormNET and play almost anything against anybody, like everyone did in the old, old days.

As a result, newcomers either think they aren't wanted, or think there's no action, when it's merely hidden from view.

Lots of pop-up help/hints/site links on WormNET would be a great help here, but the in-crowd seems very happy with the way things are, and therefore there's no motivation to do anything different...

I don't really see that as a fair statement, of course i'd like to know more people, i'd love to show more people Darts for example, and I love helping people to learn this game whether it's Darts, Roper, BnG... But I rarely meet any new players who speak English well enough to understand what to do. Also, most people who even can speak English, they generally don't have a nice attitude, they don't chat in the channels asking for help, or how they can learn, they just join Wnet, join a game, they get kicked, then they swear and insult people because they have no patience, so really, f**k those people... I'll help anyone with a nice attitude, but some people are just c**ts.

I am correct either way actually.

The difference between then and now is that there isn't as much of a steady supply of newcomers anymore.

With all things considered, I am extremely impressed we even still get newcomers 16 years after WA was released.

I've brought this up before. The problem is that the long-time players are an in-crowd that either:

A. Play a limited number of schemes, such as rope games.

It's ridiculous to consider this a problem, part of the reason people still play this game is because they found something they are passionate about and have a group of friends to enjoy it with. How many other games do you know that have lasted 16+ years? You are trying to make something positive sound negative...

B. Play amongst themselves, like clan and TUS games, or games scheduled with friends/in-crowders via chat rooms.

Again, this is exactly the same as point A.

C. Are hardcore and arrogant, such as NNN.

I don't have much experience with NNN, I pretty much never seen any of them, or at least don't notice them, could you elaborate on why you consider them hardcore and arrogant?

Very few are like me, who log in to WormNET and play almost anything against anybody, like everyone did in the old, old days.

Like everyone did in the old days? That's a lie lol, i've played this game online since it started, it was just as divided back then than it is now, you had different channels for different schemes, and you still had scheme specialists who played only Ropers, only BnG and only Elite, you also had the all-rounders who would play all of them well, then there was the famous Warmer community which is definitely the most elitist of all time, and of course there were some players who would play any scheme, these people either faded away, or found schemes they would favour.

As a result, newcomers either think they aren't wanted, or think there's no action, when it's merely hidden from view.

Nope, that's also wrong, I am not saying there aren't problems, but you haven't used the right words to describe them.

Worms Armageddon, unlike any other game I know of, is unique.

Most games are WYSIWYG, most games like shooters, or click and control, or RPG are straight forward, easy to play, you can watch a trailer for them and know exactly what the gaming experience will be like, with WA, most new players expect nothing more than some random fun with some silly weapons, new players have NO idea how much depth & skill this game has, they have no idea how serious people can play this game and how long it takes to learn how to play the most popular schemes, it's definitely a harder learning curve than most games that exist.

So when faced with different rules and people who play serious, they are lost because it isn't what they expected.

Literally every person i've told in real life that I play Worms Armageddon they automatically associate it with randomness, humour and sillyness, if I try to explain how advanced this game has become they look at me like i've just farted really badly...

Lots of pop-up help/hints/site links on WormNET would be a great help here, but the in-crowd seems very happy with the way things are, and therefore there's no motivation to do anything different...

Well, you are right here 50/50, of course pop-up help etc would be awesome!, but we lack the proper tools to do this, the people who want to make changes don't know how to make those changes, we aren't programmers, and even people who do know how to program say it either can't be done, it's too much work for a few people or T17 won't let us make changes.

So it kinda sucks on that part...

So stop making it about yourself, please.

Jid knows enough, and is skilled enough to be able to find/join games, I think when he says "everyone" it's an overreaction, he quite possibly joined while all that was hosted was games hosted by HostingBuddy and Shoppers, I am sure he will find the games soon enough.

Also, I am not talking about just me though, it's not just my opinion, i've noticed others act and feel the same way, all the members of dS are equally friendly and helpful with noobs, but everyone kicks people from time to time for the same reasons I said.

It's weird for you to focus on the negative rather than the positive...

Point out the positive in his post:

:( just been on wormnet for 1st time in months got kicked from every game

It's great that dS is a positive exception to the rule, but it's still pretty obvious the majority kicks unknowns.

Lol I meant a negative reaction to my post assuming it's all about me, when I was actually expressing positive thoughts that I like to help people :)

I can't disagree that the majority of Wnet kick unknowns, however, I believe the majority of well known players are kind enough.

I don't have much experience with NNN, I pretty much never seen any of them, or at least don't notice them, could you elaborate on why you consider them hardcore and arrogant?

Truthfully, not all of them are arrogant. But some are, and they are the hardest of the hardcore. They're SO good at Normal-Intermediate, it looks like they're hacking. But they're not!

Even five years after launch in 2004 when I started playing the PC version, there were far more casual games being hosted in AG than there are now. By casual, I mean variants of normal or games with rules where the host is friendly to beginners. Then, ropers/clanners/the hardcore in-crowd got bigger, turning off everyone else. I saw this happen in real time.
