Title: Really old players?
Post by: Garf on January 17, 2014, 06:05 AM
I've just checked some backup files I carried over from PC to PC, and it looks like I was active back in 2001 or so, mostly.

I also recall being part of a clan called PSU back then.

I wonder if anyone from back around then is still around?

My nick was the same - Garf - I think. I used to play Pro (back when there was the offical Wormnet leagues, I used to not totally suck here), BnG, BattleRaces. I liked shoppers, warmers and propers, but never even got remotely decent at them.

So - if any old W:A addicts are reading - yay! Anyone remember stuff?

welcome back garf, cant remember we played each other. Started my first exp. online around 98/99 with some long nightsessions by playing battleraces with guys like gargoyle and some other yanks. 2002 I started to play league games (gigaliga) but I cant remember you were playing giga as well.

Have fun playing worms again  :)

TheWalrus - yes, I do remember you as well, though not sure about details. It's been a long time!

And thanks for the welcome, everyone.

Oddly enough, I don't find myself mentioned on that old PSU page. I kinda think I might've played even earlier - given how I just saw that the "official" Wormnet leagues ended mid-2000 already-, and my old bookmark for the PSU clan page was psu.hypermart.net (which 404s now). Definitely the same clan, though, I remember lots of the names there.

It's nice to see that the game is still striving and that so many folks from waaaay back are still around!

You have to learn the art of waybacking sites if you want information from sites that are 10+ years old Garf :P

Quote
"Welcome to Cujo, Marley, and Garf - our overseas introductions to PSU. May you wallow in our debauched den of dope smokers, drunkards, vagabonds, ravers,& insane grubbers. Go forth onto wanknet,& fly the PSU flag with pride."

You joined PSU the the 25th of july in 2001.

You can find yourself on the memberlist recorded October 2001: https://web.archive.org/web/20011018124936/http://psu.hypermart.net/members.html

Off-topic, is that the Marley that was in TdC as well? ^^
