Which special (team) weapon would you use for every scheme? Usually I use SS for Elite and cows for Intermediate but if I had no choice I would go for Pigeons, I think that's a pretty safe choice for any default scheme.

SS - High damage, mobility, and you can explode it as you wish.

Cows of course :) highly unpredictable in Elite which makes it even more useful

Flame Thrower - up close and personal
Mole Bomb - Movement and mobility
Old Woman - Pile Destroyer
Homing Pigeons - More Homing Weapons for long range
Sheep Launcher - best of both worlds, sheep for long distance
Mad Cows - tunnels and high damage
Holy Hand Grenade - meme, semi-unlimited timer
Super Sheep - long range, can be used almost everywhere

Hhg by far, love seeing HHG play in intermediate games.

Not having impact detonation like Mad Cow, Old Woman would be great if it had a bit longer fuse.
My pick is HHG. You can throw it like a grenade, but the bounces stop it from being perfectly accurate like SS.
