Good luck :)

I think the scheme is flawed though. With so many handguns/bats/crap weaps in it's hardly possible to do any serious harm before SD. And with the low TUS scores on SD weaps.. it's likely you end up with many drawn games.  :-[
I can see this only working with more time on the clock tbh.

That's what I said about Chicken23's scheme

I guess there is a reason for the current crate probabilities. In your scheme probability for powerful non-SD weapons is lower so it's more difficult to kill the opponent with non-SD weapons. That means games will be more often SD weapon battles than before, or?

Wasn't water rise also slower when all weapons had the same probability? You had then more time to kill the opponent with non-SD weapons than in TUS scheme.

I think the greater number of shitty weapons doesn't affect that much after all. But we'll see about that :P

How many early kills do u see with the TUS "boom boom" scheme anyway? A worm gets attacked once by a big bomb and then it's moved to a cover. No TUS game ends before SD and usually u have at least 3 worms left heading to SD.

Sticked to 16 players. Those who were excluded haven't played T17 in tus/trl or had the lowest rating.

I disagree and believe the scheme to be the best edit so far after the global acceptance that old t17 channel and FB schemes (of all equal chances with couple of edits) creates too many sd weapons.

This goes back to original t17 schemes but with some slight changes to the sd weapons. You still get plenty of powerful weapons to make damage to a worm for more than 60+, but you also have to learn to deal with the cr8 of getting the shitty weapons.

tus t17 is the worst t17 scheme in the history of wa.

So in other words, I am not deemed worthy to participate in this cup because I have no official rating?  Because I when I first signed up for this cup I failed to see a minimum requirement to partake. Besides I was way before 16 too.

I'm just a player of this community along with those who got removed, that only wanted to play. Where is the equality in all of this, Senator? Why couldn't the rest play? Because we lacked points and status?

The groups that are paired are obviously paired by clans and it feels very bias.

I wanted 4 players groups (16 players) and we got 19 players so I had to cut off some players. This is "experimental cup" so I wanted players who have a lot of experience of T17 to participate, that's why it was appropriate to choose players based on T17 experience/rating. This is just one cup among others.. you have chance to participate in many upcoming cups :)

If the groups were paired by clans, then Sbaffo, Free and Chelsea should be in the same group, right? Afaik I clicked pair by totally random :-X

So I am not ''experienced'' because I am not ranked on tus? While I don't have my ranks documented here, I am experienced with Team17, and that is why I decided to sign up for this cup.

You say that this is ''Experimental cup'' and only ''experienced'' players may partake, why would a price be involved in an experiment?  Besides, look how you promote your cup ''T17 cup with a new scheme and $30 prize''

You could have left your desired cup details in the cup.  Instead of leading people on.
Or have it closed and then browse for players with ''Experience'' and invite them.

Senator, you could just have set the cup to auto-close at 16... It is not fair to pick and choose who plays in a public cup.

@Kradie

I had no idea how experienced u are. Tus stats are pretty much the only source out there and u hadn't any stats. That indicates u haven't played the tus scheme version much.

A prize is involved because obviously not many would be interested in pure scheme testing. At the same time I wanted a high level competition, which wouldn't be possible without a prize.

I thought about closed signups and at first I had "players will be chosen based on T17 ratings" written in the cup details. But then I realized we might not get enough players that way :-[

@spleen17

Imo it's totally fine to have signups open for some days and then choose players based on objective measures (rating/played games). It would be stupid to just give the spots to those who surf on TUS sites several times per day. This arrangement indeed was fair because it gave everyone a chance, not just for the most active members. I could have selected players by random instead but obviously I didn't want to exclude the best t17 players.

You didn;t have to exclude anyone, you could have just waited for 1 more and started with 20. You would still have got the feedback you wanted on the scheme.

It just seems like elitism. You are one of those who is always moaning about the drop in activity... how do you expect new players to start playing if they just get discarded from cups and such? It's a shame to see imo.

With 4 players groups the cup runs more smoothly (u need to arrange games only with 3 players instead of 4). I even asked HHC's opinion on this before I decided to stick to the original plan of 16 players.

Senator: [October 10, 2015, 11:31 AM]
hhc, 16 or 20 players for t17 cup ??
Senator: [October 10, 2015, 11:31 AM]
5 players groups too big?

Those players got discarded only because we had extra players and I was worried that we would have problems finishing the cup with 5 players groups.

There are 15 other cups atm besides all the leagues. That's a lot from which to choose.

So it's just better to exclude people who haven't got a rating on tus and who might not have played that particular version of the same? This is something that you should have mentioned, You could have taken the liberty to send a private message to those who are in the danger zone and ask about their commitment instead of striking them out.

Listen to what you said here
QuoteThis is "experimental cup" so I wanted players who have a lot of experience of T17 to participate, that's why it was appropriate to choose players based on T17 experience/rating.
and now this
QuoteA prize is involved because obviously not many would be interested in pure scheme testing. At the same time I wanted a high level competition, which wouldn't be possible without a prize.

First this was an experimental cup, then later on in this thread you revealed it's a high level competition, which again you failed to leave in the cup details.

Senator, we had plenty of players, we were close to 20, we only lacked 1 more player. Instead you favored the aristocracy aka the elitists. You rather deal with what you know instead of the unknown with no tittles.

This whole cup is unfair and Senator swings back and fort of what he wants and what he doesn't. Because of this, no one was really given a chance. I find this situation distasteful.
Title: Re: Cup #800, Team17 Experimental Cup
Post by: Senator on October 12, 2015, 12:01 PM
Hmm? I don't see how my expectations for this cup are in conflict in any way. As mentioned, I wanted

1. get feedback on this scheme version compared to TUS scheme
2. have a high level t17 cup

In both cases experienced t17 players are desired, and in both cases a prize is useful.

Not all players in this cup are experienced t17 players. I could reselect 12 players based on ratings, then select the rest 4 randomly out of the remaining 7 players (using RandomBot in WN) and replace players depending on the result. How does that sound to u?
Title: Re: Cup #800, Team17 Experimental Cup
Post by: Kradie on October 12, 2015, 12:25 PM
While I appreciate your approach for solution it wouldn't justify anything. It would only remove players that wanted to partake in an open cup.
Your thuughts & desires came more apparent as the thread expanded, which again wasn't included in the limited requirements to join this specific cup.
You could reconcile and have this cup open again and let those who were wrongly tossed away get a new chance to come back.
IF you really wanted a cup for the high and mighty, you could have arranged it differently.

Berria, what's the problem playin only on the Sundays?

It worked fine last Sunday and would work better if You and WhiteRabbit appear.

TUS forums became a lot of "challenge the person above you" and bullshit so It's hard to find something useful among many trash. Good times when eS clan was spotted in the threads.

I will be able to play 14 GMT. Be there this time.

TUS scheme, with all its problems, it's still much better than this.

Nice try anyway, Tom!

I've lost for WhiteRabbit, so I have no more chances to get a KO place.

Hopefully u and Hussar play the last game because it's decisive between Hussar and Csongi.

"Balanced" stands for equal crate probabilities (except for a few weaps), not for equal weapons for both players :P And this cup scheme is not exactly Tom's scheme but very close to it.

Mind tell why u feel the tus scheme is better? Because both get only good weaps so less luck? This comes to dealing with poor weaps (either use the "poor" weaps better or use girders instead).

You quoted well when said "TUS scheme is better because both good weaps". That's what I felt comparated to your scheme. Imo, there's no problem if scheme gives you and opponent a HHG. Shall win the one who use the HHG "better".

Your scheme gives mortars, mole bomb, bat... in the same probabilty of dyna, granny, etc. Those weapons cant be in the same group of the main weapons. You're adding luck in the game when player A collect flame (120 damage) and player B collect mole (15 damage) and well, that's not the point what you're targetting, isnt it?

TUS scheme offers few ratio (0,6%) for awful weapons and this is correct. Obviouslly the scheme has problems but it seems like the best one so far.

I totally disagree. Your points are the exact problem with TUS scheme. It just becomes blast wars, you may as well play full wormage lol.

This scheme gives equal chances so you learn to play well with bad weapons. Its possible to over 80 damage with a mortor and plop worms with bat. Molebomb is great in sd when it can dig through griders and cause enough damage to finish off a low powered worm once its health has gone down after the nuke.

This schemes bring T17 back to its originals of learning to play aggressive or defensive based on the luck of the cr8s and generates better skilled T17 players as you have to learn all the weapons and not just rely on powerful weapons and lightside aggressive games.

Sometimes i wish Uber was still active to back me up as he was a very well respect t17er who had the same philosophsy as me in this scheme!

I understand your viewpoint but times change and T17 as I have played since 5 years ago is all about having a good usage of weapons you collect, have territorial domain and kill your opponent faster as possible because when SD comes, water gives a new game perspective.

The experimental scheme, for me, is boring and luck-based. Mortar and mole arent good weapons for a battle at all. They should be banned of the scheme, also suicide bomb and the revolver too. That's my viewpoint. Anyway, I'm always open for changes that increase motion and fun for the game :)

Ok time to start KO stage. We had ties in groups 1 and 3 so head to head results decided. Mega'Adnan advanced because he beat doza and Csongi advanced because he beat both Hussar and GreatProfe.

Quarterfinals deadline: Sunday 2015-11-15

But this is not Shopper where u need to attack each turn. If u get some moles while the opponent gets holys, it doesn't decide the game. You just need to play differently. For me those crap weapons add variation and make the game more interesting because u can't play each time the same way. Btw, suicide bomb is a "super weapon" and its crate probability cannot be changed :P

44 wins + 3 draws (did everyone upload draw replays?) + 1 win with wrong scheme

Two of the 3 draws happened because of mistakes (drowned all the worms with nuclear, didn't open in 3vs1 situation when there was plenty of sd remaining and no sd weaps).

One 'real' draw in 47 games is not much :P Smallish sample size tho.
