Mega`Adnan:
Bungee Shopper!

FoxHound:
When I arrive home I'll make a list of schemes I think that have potential to people enjoy playing. I'm sick and at the hospital now, but what I have to say is:

In my opinion I would prefer to see RubberWorm schemes being selected, since we are in version 3.8 now (it was implemented in-game) and the only scheme I see people playing is Kaos and sometimes Black Hole BnG.  I mean, there are several schemes around worms community that have a lot of potential with new features for many people, but people don't know.

Some people suggested schemes that were largely played competitively and also were hosted a lot in AG, so I think this is not the place for them. For example: Fly Shopper and Surf Shopper. Surf Shopper has also generations of gameplay style with different maps. The first maps for Surf Shopper were very interesting but at the same time riskier. They forced people to surf the entire way and not just skim only once.

There are also schemes like Bungee Shopper that received Worm Olympics tournaments, but not so often. The scheme is interesting, but I don't think they got popular around the community, we can actually host it again, but I don't think it should be a priority.

Intrinsic schemes didn't receive many competitive events and would be nice to see people playing them, but they are still conventional schemes that everybody already took a look at them and never really prefered them over intermediate.I don't think Blast Zone will surprise people.

I would prefer to see schemes that never received any cup or tournament for them yet, because these schemes are not yet known by the competitive players, the others people already know.

I think that schemes that doesn't require rules would be easier to deal, the ones that have rules would be complicated. So the debut one I would suggest to be one that doesn't require rules.

Lupastic:
The community is very divided and we all want to play things in our own ways ::) In my case this is not true though, I'm flexible enough to play unknown schemes and I joined many different leagues before and accepted the rules/schemes that mods wanted, even when I felt like it's f@#!ing dumb. But generally I never experienced the same from others.. :D Only on wormnet.
Maybe this is the reason why an experimental league would hardly work out. We all have different ideas, and people generally doesn't like to give "more space" to others and new ideas, just play what they're always got used to. What if now I would like to get you to play Pool (biliard) or Parachute Shopper with me Foxhound? ;)
Personally I'm not sure about schemes like this black hole bng and goku battle arena, they are even less known schemes than fly or surf shopper.. but still I'd learn how to play it even if it had a total of 4 players playing it :D
The reason I (and Echiko) mentioned schemes like Fly shopper, Blast zone is because they are rare, but not completely unknown. You're right that Fly Shopper has been part of the worm olympics before, and there was also a fly shopper cup on TUS this means it's competitively playable :) And I'm not sure how many players would like to learn how to play a scheme like black hole bng other than me and probably a few more among your friends :D
This is why I didn't even want to mention/suggest schemes like Pool.. it's probably one of the most genius schemes ever existed, you need skillz and brainz there, but the scheme is so f@#!ing forgotten and completely unknown that anyone reading this, they dunno what scheme I'm talking about here :D Yet ~2 months ago I played Pool with SiD and a few other oldschoolers.
Still, I respect and I like these league ideas of yours, Foxhound, I'm open to read what other ideas you and Sibasa have

Yes, it will be an attempt. Better try than nothing.

I played Parachute Shopper one or two times in my life, it is not a scheme of my taste, but it is very creative, and I like the map design for this scheme. I already played Pool with 2 or 3 different people and it is nice. I could play with you, yes (same for Parachute Shopper, but I prefer other schemes).

Well, this is the main purpose of ESL. It is not a place to play Fly Shopper. I play Fly Shopper since 2006 in WWP, it is a very popular and known scheme, if people don't play more is because they got tired of playing it, and normal Shopper is easier to play for newbies. The idea of ESL is to keep trying to promote different schemes, if people do not join a scheme, we try other and even if people play the schemes selected, we don't want to play the same schemes over and over, maybe we could create an apropriate place for the schemes that get apreciated.

FoxHound:
My suggestion of schemes to be played in ESL:

Ideal ones to debut (RubberWorm / ESO)

Plop Gum is a very funny scheme that 100% of people I played with enjoyed and it is not hard to play, it's simple, so even newbies apreciate. It has also a considerable learning curve, since you can perform Mole Jumps that require some training and other complex tactics, like using girders with Sheep Launcher, or parachuting on cliffs to drop grenades fast. Basicaly it is a multishot destructible plop war played on randomly-generated maps.

Goku Battle Arena (GBA) has a very high learning curve, but the idea is simple (few weapons just to help moving in the gravity and plopping worms). Very fun.

Driver, as Lupastic mentioned, is a very interesting Boom Race variant in which you have to push a second worm to the finish. I believe any Boom Race fan would enjoy this scheme.

Neocombat is basically a very well balanced Kaos-like scheme (but different) with antisink. The weapons you find in crates continue for the other rounds, including the starting ammo that is replaced every round. There was a TUS cup of this scheme before that I failed to participate properly.

Sheeper: I believe this is way more fun than Supersheeper. It has no rules and is not mono weapon, so not so repetitive and more tactical.

Black Hole Shopper is a scheme that uses a lot the rope on black hole gravity. It is a fun scheme to play, usualy with more weapons than Black Hole BnG, and more action.

Teleporting is one of many Teleport Shopper schemes. It is the only one I played, the others seem to be nice as well, but this one has beautiful big maps and lots of powerful superweapons. I really enjoy playing this scheme.

Other interesting schemes

Sally Shopper is a Shopper variant very funny, focused on Salvation Army in a Plop War style.

Skinflint Roping is a creative roping/race scheme that tries to imitate the conventional gameplay style of roping. It can really challenge rope schemes fans and also atract ground scheme lovers to play roping schemes. there are pretty hard numbers.

Flat Earth Apocalypse is a scheme based on anti-science lunatics, that believe that the earth is flat, climate change is not happening (also not increasing due to humanity) and vaccines are a conspiracy from governments around the world. It is freaking hard, and challenging, but it is funny. People really need to train first before playing competitively. It is very luck based and limited, though.

Rope Knocking: this scheme has lots of beautiful big maps, and also some variety on types. It really deserves some attention, since it is fully updated to v3.8 and has no rules.

Drown Syndrome: this scheme is amazing and from the ancient RubberWorm times, it has already a finished TUS Cup. I think this scheme should be played with the 33seconds variation, because in my opinion 66 seconds is a lot of time.

Black Hole BnG: this scheme is more simple than regular BnG, because it doesn't require rules necessarily (the rules are optional, I believe). It is very challenging to hit worms with a completely different gravity. Some schemes use more weapons and not only bazooka and grenade (not sure if still BnG lol).

Pool is the wormy version of real life pool. It requires good aiming and notion with the Sheep Launcher and the zero gravity.

Hoops is like playing basketball with worms, but very different than Worms Basketball. It is simple and repetitive, but it is tricky and requires timing. It is simply amazing to throw mines on a basket using dragon ball.

Snooker: despite the name, this scheme is not a wormy adaptation of cue sports like Pool scheme is. This is a zero gravity battle scheme without rules with a high learining curve, since it is very challenging to move: for example, you need to use bungee to go down, parachuite to stop and backflip to go up. Jet Pack is very useful too. The scheme has a problem to be played competitively that with a simple 3.8 update can be solved. I really enjoy playing this scheme.

Jumper is awormy adaptation of the movie Jumper, like the Only Crates or Kaos scheme but with infinite teleport. It is funny and doesn't have rules.

Space Cows: this scheme is funny, it is simply crazy to see many cows flying on the map all the time. Although it has probably some issues in the late gameplay.

Beef Race: is a scheme that explores some ability with rope and mainly concentrating cows on the same spot. It seems a bit hard, but once you get hit by the cows properly is insane.

Worms Chess is a wormy adaptation of real life chess, but for 8 pieces (1 full team of worms). It is exactly like playing a chess variation. It uses zero gravity and 100% damage axe.

Power Prodder is an old RubberWorm scheme with a lower gravity and some weapons that get unlocked to throw worms to the space. I played this scheme very few times in my life and I don't remember it so well if it would be good competitively.

Realistic is a scheme that already received a cup. It has very strong weapon powers and a high gravity. I liked playing this scheme.

Boom for Weapons is a scheme that has 15 maps (boom race, but with weapons on the whole map that you need to use if you touch), but some of them are very difficult. It would be amazing to play this scheme with an enhanced version of wkRealTime, because the maps are mostly very long, so it's a race that can take a lot of time without the module that doesn't support this scheme yet. This is surely one of my favourite schemes, I love playing this scheme, but it has some issues with the glue on the edges that players may get stuck forever, so some rules are necessary to be defined.

Drive for Weapons: this is probably my favourite scheme, it explores "weapons are pushed by explosions" feature and has a lot of amazing combos, also it has a story. It is basically the same as Boom for Weapons but with two worms like Driver.

Take Out The Mine: this scheme is very funny, but it only has one map. It can be a bit frustrating on some tricky parts. The idea is to push a mine to the finish using jet pack and explosions (there are check points).

Fly-Forts: this scheme has a lot of maps, and requires good roping and dropping skills. It uses TestStuff features. It is like doing flies (Fly Shopper), but in forts. I might create an antisink version for this scheme.

Hand to Hand (H2H) is one of the most important schemes from PoC community. It is like an Aerial, but with physical weapons only like punch, dragon ball, battle axe and kamikaze. There's a variation of this scheme called Jet-Kune-Do played on big beautiful maps. Seems to be very fun to play.

Quickdraw received several competitive events already, but I enjoy this scheme so much that I would like to see it being played here. Not so many people played this scheme, unfortunately. It is a conventional gameplay with short time on specific map editor edited maps with tunnels. Health is low and weapons are shitty.

Knock Race schemes: this is a series of roping/racing schemes, each with a different concept. My favourite is "Knock Attack", because it is different from other schemes I played (you have to knock worms to certain holes). The only problem is that each scheme has only 1 map for it.

Counter-Strike is a wormy adaptation of the electronic game Counter-Strike (one is terrorist and the other Counter-Terrorist, the terrorist must explode oil drums with dynamites and the CT must defend them). I like this scheme, I had some fun playing it, because you really have to think. However maybe only the original map should be played, not sure how the others work. Also, not sure if this scheme is completely balanced for competitive gameplay.

Alt-F4 is a scheme that recently received a cup and is only one of several "Specialists schemes", in which worms have to use only the weapon(s) or f-key of their names. I only tried Alt-F4 that I enjoyed a lot and Special War that I played very briefly, but didn't like so much. There are others to try, like the ones by STRGRN and Kradie.

Builder is a DIY Fort interesting variant that I would like to try. It would be very complicated to organize a competition and not sure if it is good for competitive gameplay. I would enjoy trying DIY Fort schemes like Fort Architects Echiko likes so much. Builder has the concept of creating your own fort with girders, but if you put the girders on specific formats you unlock weapons to use. You can also deny enemy weapons destroying the enemy girder formats. Another Forts scheme similar to these ones I'd like to try is Forts after Armageddon, in which you start survinving from Armageddon and then must build your fort.

Rope for Weapons: I'm not a very big fun of this scheme, but it is creative and I'd like to see how people would play on the maps competitively. It is a scheme that received some WO tournaments. Basically, you need to use the rope to be able to use a weapon.

Surf Race: there are several maps for this scheme and it is very funny to play them. Unfortunately there no competitive events for this scheme yet. Basically, you have surf until the finish (using TestStuff features).

Board Game: WA has no limits with this scheme. You can explore every single aspect of the game with this scheme. It is a wormy adaptation of real life race board games. Not sure if it would be easy to organize a competition with this scheme, though.

Speed Mole is a scheme that many people was talking about recently and seems fun. Basically a multishot game with high-powered moles played on randomly generated maps.

Check Point Rope Race is a scheme that received some competition events, but deserve to be played more, because it is very fun to play rope race with check points.

Get Frank: this scheme has complicated rules, but I would like to try it one day. Not sure if good for competitions, but we might give it a chance.

Wormopoly Party: wormy adaptation of real life Monopoly board game, this scheme is very fun, but has complicated rules and not sure if it is balanced enough for competitive play. It is similar to Boom for Weapons and Board Game. It has several weapon sprites around the map and boxes where your worm must do some specific things with the weapons they are on.

Rubber Baseball (replay on this link): this scheme is very hard (it has a high learning curve), but is very creative and amazing to watch. Basically you need to surf, change worms and hit the surfing worm with the baseball bat to score points. I really want to see people playing more this scheme.

Windy Day or Icy Storm: playing conventional gameplay, but with wind affecting weapons and worms is fun. I would like to see competitions of this type of scheme.

Spawn for Weapons: this scheme has some rules, but it is very funny. A battle in which you need to use the weapons the crates are touching, but there are 2 crates only and if you collect one, another will spawn on other weapon sprite.

w1w Anti Sink: many people laughed a lot playing this scheme with me. There's only one map, unfortunately. Basically, you have only one wall to touch, but there is no speed limit, so the worm goes insanely fast and is not so easy to rope. Once the worms hits the wall, it can use anti sink to teleport back to base and attack the leader after getting crates.

Colossal Shopper: I really wanna see people playing Shopper on gigantic maps. Some rules must be difined though.

Hysteria Race: a race scheme with 1 second turn, based on another scheme that had this idea first.

Black Hole Golf: a golf scheme game, but played on a special map for black hole gravity. It is an amazing idea and is funny. Some rules must be defined, though.

Black Hole Fort: a Forts scheme game, but played on a special map for black hole gravity. It is an amazing idea.

RopeShopper: do not confuse this scheme with the ancient Shopper name. This is a RubberWorm Shopper scheme in which it is very important to save ropes (using batty rope) and collect crates with rope ammo. Seems an interesting idea.

Ghost Refuging is scheme that one worm fires weapons on enemy invisible worms trying to pass to reach the finish. Both players have attacker worms and the ones to pass invisible. Not sure if a good scheme for competitions, but worths trying!

Dominator: a scheme with complex rules in which the use of the rope is constant. Seems an interesting idea to try.

Baseball Race: basically it is just like playing golf scheme but with baseball bat and a second worm to throw into the holes. Seems interesting.

Mortal: this scheme wasn't designed for competitive play, but I would like to experiment, because the scheme is fun.

Hide and Seek: Not sure if this scsheme is good for competitive play, but it is a wormy adaptation of real life Hide and Seek childhood games and seems very interesting.

BuildConv: TheMadCharles seems to support a lot this scheme, so we should give this scheme a try.

Knockers: this scheme is like Darts (repetitive), but a bit different. Seems interesting.

Surf Punch: this scheme is a bit repetitive, but interesting enough to experiment a competition and see people playing it seriously.

Anti Sink Boom Race: rubber bounciness multishot boom race scheme with more weapons.

Jet Pack War: this scheme is like an aerial, but with anchor mode, only drop-and-run weapons and 508% Fall Damage. In the late game it has some issues that can be fixed with an update.

Die Pie: this scheme seems silly, but it is nice to play. You have to think on which weapons you will use first and aim on pixels. The idea is basically a race to destroy a map object before the opponent.

Space Race is the first racing scheme that uses zero gravity. Basically you use bazooka only and sometimes the x3 ropes if you get stuck (boom race gameplay style).
