Title: World Cup '14 - Betting corner
Post by: Csongi on June 10, 2014, 08:22 AM
Hey.I thought it would be cool to have a topic where we can share our thoughts about which team will win which game, what did you bet for today and other stuff. :D

Let's make some money ! xd

P.S.: I'm planning on making a ticket with the following teams qualifying from group stage:Spain,Columbia,France,Belgium and Portugal.
It would give me an odd around 3. What do you think ?

put up some bets and we can compare

so far I've only put 100€ on top scorer from la liga

(on the basis neymar and messi take the penalties for their teams, funny fact, Bwin uses the same criteria, it only has 1.95 at max scorer playing for Barcelona)

I've not decided up on any bets so far.. It's tough to make any money in the world cup ;P I might try some draws & under 2.5 goals in the matches in the group stage, it's quite often a tendency with few goals and close games in the early stages of these championships(world & european). But I assume the bookmakers already knows that.. That's more a gut feeling though, no hard facts from my side. I think I'll rather watch and enjoy the championship without any huge bets. It's tempting to do a longshot and stake Italy @30 in odds, now that both France and Germany been suffering some late injuries on Reus and Ribery. But then again, Spain will probably just win in the end :P

Italy will go out in group stage. We really suck this year and Giuseppe Rossi was injured as well.

I would bet Brazil vs Argentina in Final

Belgium can reach the quarters, but not more. That team is awesome, but no experience.

We doing a toto at work and my guess: 1. Brasil, 2. Argentina, 3. Germany, 4. Mexico. But thats just my thought.

In Switzerland I trust!  8)

btw crazy, where are norwegians? Didnt make the qualify? I forgot it..  ::)

Mexico sucks on this WC, they qualified in the last match of their conference only because USA beat up to Panamá in last minutes. Panamá was leading the game 2-1 and in the discounts they lost 3-2 and Mexico won the tickets to WC... their own press can't believe that they are playing this WC.

Yea but this doesnt matter. Remember denmark at european championship 10 years ago? Nobody noticed that country and they finally won it. How a team goes into wc doesnt matter. the important thing is to get in. Huh Crazy?  :D

Imo mexico has a good offense and a very strong defense. And they know hot temperatures which could be a huge factor.

Could be, actually that happens with Uruguay always, they qualified last on south america for the WC 2010 and then they reached the 4th place. Well, bets are bets!

I bet 20 US dollars that Chile qualify with Spain to 2nd round. Who wanna bet? I can pay by MoneyGram.

Im gonna put 10 quid on an outsider but a strong team with some world class players because the odds in betting shops are really good, like 25 to 1. So im tempted to put a bet on portugal, france or italy. Although im also tempted to bet on Argentina with worse odds but higher chance of winning cus of climate.

It's sad that nobody's betting on Spain, the current Winners' WC holders, and being non other than the current winners of the last two UEFA Eurocups.

Not even me is betting on them this time!

This is good anyway, less pressure, there could be more surprises ^^

I don't see a clear winner this time, so let's bet on the home team

I'm only really up to date with the German team, I think they'll make quarter finals and from there on out I don't know. Reus injured, Özil in poor shape, Klose already 34 years old and the only real #9 on the team.. But then there's Podolski who literally always plays his A-game in big tournaments and some newcomers like Draxler, Durm, Kramer and Schürrle who could make a difference. Not sure how it works out.

As for the other teams, I have high hopes for Brazil and Belgium, as well as Uruguay (Cavani and Suarez are so strong if they can both play).

Spain will go far as well imo, their winner mentality will carry them even though they say they're not favourites (which I agree to).

It's starting tomorrow guys, get hyped! :D

I don't think they can Csongi, Belgium is rathed 5th favourite in the tournament and ahead of teams like France and Italy. I really don't believe in Belgium, first of all the squad lack experience at major tournaments. My biggest concern though about Belgium is their full-backs, or in other words that they don't have any! They brought eight defenders and seven of these are center backs: the defence will most likely be consisting of four centre-backs. It's not good enough on this level. They have no high class full-backs and without top class in every position of the team I don't see how they can reach far. They should progress from their group fairly easy, but I personally think they will be knocked quickly after that.

Ghana, what do you mean HHC? I can't remember that ;P

Chile is interesting!!! I love the way they play tactically, it's brilliant.. High pressure and quick attacking with two unpredictable strikers in Sanchez and Vargas. Chile 'dissapointed' last WC, only scoring three goals in four matches, but they were in a really tough group. Just like this year, poor Chile :D I'm questioning Chile's defence tho.. More specifically their height, Chile can get in real trouble on set-pieces when facing opponents like Netherland. Their defence is in real lack of height ;P So that's why I don't understand why Gonzalez was not included in their squad... Also a big problem for Chile: turning domination into victory. First match against Australia on Saturday will be so important for them, and they are huge favourites. Chile to dominate the game, yet fail to win it? Gl anyway, I will watch all their matches for sure

Amen, you know this shit Crazy, it's just like you said. Gonzalez is lacking on speed since he was inactive for some months just before this WC (he had no team, sad...), but it's the shit that almost everyone here is complaining about our coach, not me. The shit... the actual 1st and 2nd place of the world in our group, well.

I'm with Twy.
Footage has been all over the place for 3 days now. That locker room is worse than hell. They fly kicking each other in training while Van Gaal is back patting De Jong and other veterans. Holland is set up to play some nice guerrilla counter attacking anti-football. And in that moment, somewhere, Cruijff whil drop a tear.

Chile is in a much better position to go through with Spain, all things considered.

In fact, in my mock, Chile comes first, and Spain 2nd facing Brasil and losing  :(

Belgium might not have experience but they're the #1 underdogs. Just try to choose bets that refer to their football and not necessarily their results ;)
Also look at Bosnia for some underdawg money but remember this is football, bad sport for bets, you aren't even safe doing real time O/U

Never kick a man when he's down..

why not? In case random chance proves me wrong?

I didn't bet any 1x2 this week but I would have bet against the Netherlands if yesterday's game happens again, everyday everytime and I have no colors when money is involved.

Game would have been a non story if Spain performed in the first half and Silva wasn't an idiot. But a shoock 2-1, the hesitation and planets alligning and this is the result. Mind you, the subs where objetively bad.

Did you see the game stats?
