No, he's not, he's never played a2b :) but it's cool that that way of playing is still kept alive

Promotion Project / Re: BnG notching

I recall hosting a WO tournament of BnG where people had to alter their shots after every successful hit. Forced people to come out of cheap spots and made notching harder since you'd have to hit with 2 completely different shots before you could use it again.

Most fun I had in BnG for a long time (or after)

Leagues General / Re: What about draws?

Remember it's ELO system, so you are taking points from your opponent, or losing them to your opponent.

So if you draw, well, technically nothing would happen?

No, that's not how the Éló system works. Basically, it uses a formula to determine from your rating and your opponents rating what your predicted result would be (anything in between 0 and 1). It then deducts that from the score you actually got and multiplies that with a fixed number (different for every league, it's called the K factor). The number you get then if the change in your rating.

Example (let's take a K factor of 30, which is standard in chess - I'm guessing TUS uses a higher number)
If I were to play against a really good player, the expected result would be 0.12 (in 100 games, I'd win 12 and lose the rest, so to speak).

I win: 1-0.12 = +0.88, so the rating change will be 30*0.88 = +26.4
I lose: 0-0.12 = -0.12, so the rating change will be 30*-0.12 = -3.6
I draw: 0.5-0.12 = +0.38, so the rating change will be 30*0.38 = +11.4

The opponent's expected result would be 0.88, so you can do the same calculations to get to that person's rating change:
I win: 30*(0-0.88)= -26.4
I lose: 30*(1-0.88) = +3.6
I draw: 30*(0.5-0.88) = -11.4

The bigger the k factor, the bigger the rating change will be (though considering every calculation uses the same k factor, it doesn't really matter how high it is)

Worst Shot Ever is always about the yearly screwups, so you have till New Year's Day to submit replays (of games that took place in 2016, of course).

On another note, send in your replays while you still can!

And on yet another note, lacoste has decided to step down from WSE. I'd like to thank him for taking such good care of Run's pet project ever since Run stepped down back in 2012.
But fret not, WSE will continue to go on. So far, there are 437(!) submissions, but there's always room for more screwups!
I'm going to be busy around new years, so it might take a bit longer till the results are up, but I'll certainly get around to it in January. KRD has graciously offered to help out with difficult decision making.

bui / Re: b2b who? FOS who?

Again, you guys are the ones claiming to be the champions of free speech. It's all it says in the bui description.
So someone comes over here to express freedom of speech and you edit it.
Then someone else comes to do the same by calling you on your bullshit and you resort to insults.

Champions of free speech indeed. If you're for complete freedom of speech, then learn to handle criticism, because that's part of the deal.

I locked the thread (which was on a PUBLIC forum btw) because it was becoming a pointless e-penis measuring contest and neither side was looking good. It's not irony, not even in the slightest. It certainly would be if I were in bui or FoS, but thankfully, neither of us wants to see that happen. If you don't agree with that, I suggest you google what irony means.

About 4 hours a day max focus is the max.

That can be stretched quite a lot more if you actually have to (and if you get at least one solid break in between), but I'll agree it's not too healthy :o

General discussion / Re: A cheat or a trojan horse?
November 17, 2016, 05:46 PM
Do you really think it's a good idea to trust someone who first cheats and then when he/she/it gets caught, stalks websites that didn't even have anything to do with it?

Afina seems unstable to me, I wouldn't even buy an apple from Afina.
