It's not about ' getting out ' but more like the leaving the enemy possibility to perform a shot both to left and to right. This is how I see the block. There is nothing wrong in placing ' V ' symbol between the enemies, as long as it doesn't make their worms useless when it comes to shooting during their turn.
Pushing enemy's worm to leave their girders and doing additional stairs for themselves is like being an asshole, because they gotta lose their turn for these damn stairs :d however, there is nothing wrong with cutting off their path/way up, if they can still perform a shot. Because it's indirect block, which only affects movement, not shot range.
